This is my first camera surveillance setup I've owned so I have little to compare to. Setup is potentially easy depending on your house and wiring. You might want to do research first if you plan on using this hardwired (which is the method I went with so I don't have to recharge the battery every 6 months). If using the battery setup, it's very simple to install. The base it comes with needs to be somewhat close to the doorbell (connected to ethernet or Wifi). I have mine in the basement about 50 feet away and seems to work 99% of the time without losing connection. Video is pretty clear but even with 2K there is a lot of compression going on and it's hard to make out fine details. If you hardwire the doorbell you can use your original doorbell sound, or you can just use the built in doorbell sounds (there are a bunch to choose from including special seasonal ones.) Doorbell sounds come from both the base and from the outside camera. Sound levels can be independently adjusted. The base only comes with 16GB of storage, which at time of writing is not upgradeable. I'm not sure how much footage that will hold but seeing how much compression they put on the videos I'm thinking it can hold hours. Keep in mind this isn't a surveillance system that records 24/7. It's a doorbell that can be set up to record motion of people delivering a package or someone trespassing on your property (a minute or so) In the software you can adjust a lot of features such as how much motion you want it to detect or just turn off motion detection altogether. At any point you can access the camera if you want to watch a live feed outside, for example you hear a noise outside and want to investigate without opening your door. It even has a very nice night vision mode that kicks in making evening viewing/listening easy. When someone presses the doorbell button you can also communicate back to the person while watching the live feed. You can either talk, or send a pre-recorded message. Both can be handy if you are on vacation and maybe want to give the impression someone is home in your house. All functionality is done through an app which works on just about any device. I use it on my iPhone, Apple Watch, and iPad. You can download videos to your devices to back them up through the app. Here are some negatives so far: hardwiring for my setup was tricky because of a brick wall blocking the camera view. I had to extend the mount with a block of wood which I had to borrow tools to setup. The screws they provide both on the doorbell for the wires and for the mount plate strip VERY easily so be extremely careful. I recommend making pilot holes before you screw them in. Once the doorbell is wired up you can't remove it easily. So it's more of a permanent solution. It came with no manual really on how to install or setup anything. Also no manual online on how the app works or how to install the doorbell with different setups. Fortunately I found reviews on youtube from others who did the hard work. That was surprising to not find any documentation for it even from the company. The Eufy app software is a little too basic and lacks features. Finally, I am noticing motion recording accuracy seems to do with how the sun is positioned in the sky. Certain glare will either block from seeing motion or set it off unintentionally. Not as consistent as I would like to see. Overall I am pleased with the camera so far (only 2 weeks of use.) The issues I've run into like missing a motion recording or disconnecting from the base happened very rarely. Eufy is an Anker company who makes a huge amount of good products with excellent customer support. I'm not sure how it'll hold up through a cold Northeast Winter or 100+ degree summer, so we'll see. Right now no regrets.

This is the first product from Eufy I have used and if it represents what can be expected from its other security products, I don’t think you can go wrong. Definitely recommend but do have a couple of quibbles. Positives; Nicely packaged and comes with everything you need to install/setup. Was very easy to un-pack and setup following nicely detailed instructions and base also “talks” you thru it. Had no issues connecting base to internet or doorbell to base. Yes, base uses ethernet cable (included) instead of Wi-Fi but I had 2 open connections on router so no issues - but be aware. If you don’t have opening on your router - you can pick up an unmanaged 8 connection hub pretty cheap if need be. Doorbell is thoughtfully designed and seems sturdily built – has good heft due to internal batteries. You can connect using existing doorbell or mount somewhere else using battery (supposed to last 6 months to a year per charge). I used existing wiring and it worked fine but FYI you have to use app to turn on option to use your existing chime otherwise - crickets. Once all setup was done and all working a few hours later I encountered a weird issue. The doorbell sounded (using house chime). Went out and no one was there, nothing was recorded and the internal chime was making a “grinding” sound. So, I popped off the doorbell, checked wiring and reinserted in the wall mount. It rang fine but would not record anything. I checked all settings and eventually found option to restart base. Took a couple of minutes for reboot and has worked fine since. I have found, after 40 years of IT experience, that if you run into an issue with computer, printer, phone, etc. and can’t figure what the problem is – try restarting or turning off/on. It works most of the time. While there is an option to purchase cloud storage ($3 monthly or $30 annually both with 30 days overwrite) – you don’t have to as the base comes with 16GB built in memory. But I believe memory is eMCC, so its hard wired into base and not upgradable, which is bummer. Day and Night motion detection seems to be very good with very little lag starting recording – captures pretty much all the action. High def 4:3 aspect ratio 2K (2650 x 1920) videos with 160-degree field of view. I do notice a little fisheye on the left of the feed (see pics). You can setup an area for detection and its very easy to use drag lines to set. Since I have the doorbell set up 90 degrees to my front door, I don’t have many issues with false alerts, etc. But using its AI you can set motion sensitivity and whether to use human or all motions. Having option to use battery or electric power is a nice plus. Doorbell battery can be charged from base using its USB connection and supplied cable. Cannot use USB connection to add additional storage. I charged initially using power strip built in USB connection as was easier to get to than base connection. It worked fine. Since I used existing doorbell power connection I won’t have to worry about charging. The app will tell you battery percentage of charge in case you have no power connection so it is easy to keep track. The Homebase can also serve as the doorbell’s chime - when someone rings the bell. The base and doorbell are connected using their own wireless network using a 256-bit encrypted connection. You can also set whether there is a water mark showing date/time on your recordings. App itself is one of the better ones I have used. It has extensive settings for both base and doorbell. I found it easy to navigate and also has built in access for help. There is an explore option bottom right on main screen and it details Eufys other product offerings. So, while product info is there it is not pushed at you unless you look for it. I did connect to my Google Home and was able to have google stream live feed to my TV using Chromecast. You can use the base with other Eufy cameras – but doing so may eat up the 16GB of provided storage. 1 year warranty. Negatives; Can’t add/upgrade memory on base. It would be pretty much perfect if you could upgrade. If I manually record or take a picture while using app on my phone it saves it to my internal storage creating an EufyPicDir folder. I have 2 issues with this -1 – why is it storing the data on my phone at all? Remotely I have access to any stored event on the base and can watch live – so why isn’t it storing this there? 2 – If it has to store it on my phone why is it using my internal storage and not my 256GB micro-sd card? Hopefully just a firmware update or could be operator error but I looked and looked and could not find anything in either base or doorbell settings. I suspect it is storing on phone to avoid using up data plan but since I have unlimited it would be nice to have option to use base. I do have a concern about the batteries “life” - as where live I have the doorbell installed it will get the afternoon sun and we have already had days over 100 degrees. I guess I will find out! There is no computer application to work with Windows, etc. So you have to use android or apple to access. Overall, very nice and recommend.

For a doorbell, this is one of the clearest video in comparison to viviant’s doorbell but without monthly fees. Zoom and quality is well. No radius on the corners of the screen like most other videos. Wide view - a bit more than 160 deg. Night vision was pretty good but sensors sometimes focuses unclearly pending distance and debris/delay however still looks better than most competitors. Syncing was pretty simple with Hub. The unit itself is solid and dense. Make sure you have reinforcements if its not installed to a solid wall. It is heavy and can be used as a weapon itself, all jokes aside. App is easy to follow and structured for simple use. Highly recommend WITH THE HUB especially if you are one who’s not a fan of contracts and payments. Best to have it hard wired than wifi for better quality feedback and connectivity but wifi is good if you router locations are strong.

Excellent images even with the sun behind the individual. Very good control as to area of the motion that activates the notice & whether it is a real human. I have had No false activations in the month I have had it. I have the doorbell ring through multiple echo dots I have throughout my home so it is not intrusive, but can be heard everywhere. Great not needing cloud storage! Good price as there are no subscription costs. Easy to set up & responsive customer support for questions. It includes parts needed for multiple types of surfaces to install it on. There is a slight delay which has made it unlikely for me to hold a conversation with a person who rings the doorbell. The only negative.

Very happy with Eufy so far. It is my first video doorbell and I didn’t have any place to hardwire it from a preexisting doorbell so I went with the battery version. We will see over time how the battery actually holds up but so far so good. Video quality is good and I like the easy setup and integration into my smart home ecosystem. The included hub is truly awesome and I love how much you get for your money here. It’s great not having the pay for cloud storage monthly and instead to send video to that hub itself and store it there. Such a great way to do it unlike some other companies...*ahem (Ring, Google, Arlo). Overall very happy with this doorbell and I will most likely be buying another Eufy when this one is finally in need of being replaced.

Camera is nice and clear, night vision works great also. wireless installation was quick and easy. (Did purchase a mounting bracket separately because of siding on house to give it a nicer look.) Setup in app id's quick and easy. App is very nice and easy to use.if your original doorbell is broken and would require new wiring or you don't have an existing doorbell I would highly recommend.no cloud fees for video storage all stored locally. Battery life is good, still accusing to see if I can get more out of it but NOT a deal breaker at all. Purchased more Eufy cameras because of how well the doorbell works.

High build quality. Easy to install and functions well. Very good night sight. During daylight, it can easily identifies face details at 10-15 feet on the recorded video, so I would rate it as a high quality camera. Eufy application is easy to use as well. Alexa integration is bad though, but not a big deal to me. It has no monthly cloud fee compares to Nest, ring, Arlo, everything is stored locally on the home base. In my opinion 16GB is probably enough for regular home use if you less than 3 cameras. You can customize your security solution with additional outside/inside cameras, just add to the home base.

Great doorbell - buy battery version to hardware

Excellent product. I wanted a video doorbell that didn't charge a subscription fee. I don't need cloud storage - local to the house is just fine. This product is great. I have it installed with the 15 degree tilt adapter, which faces slightly towards my driveway and path leading to the front door. The doorbell is able to show the cards in my driveway, most of the front street, and anyone on or coming up to the step. The motion sensitivity is good and 'all motion' is a little too sensitive. I leave it on person detection (which works well) and set an activity zone so it doesn't pick up people walking in the street. But great little extra peace of mind this offers. I get an alert if someone leaves a package on the door or walks up my driveway. For $140 and no monthly fees, can't beat that. It also wires in great to my existing doorbell chime, and the doorbell electric trickle charges the battery. Important to note - i bought the battery version to wire in. The wired version IS NOT the same. The wired version states it does not work with existing door chimes and uses the full power to run the doorbell, while this seems to use the battery and the power trickle charges the battery. The wired version will do continuous recording, but only stores locally on the bell itself (so if someone rips your bell off the door you have no proof). The battery version records to the homebase, so if someone steals your bell, you have the recordings in-home. But for me, the big deal was the existing door chime. I wanted to use my existing chime which is loud and works for us, and i didn't want to have to dismount and periodically charge the battery - so wiring this one in made the most sense. If you are debating, i would just go for it. Unless there is a feature of an Arlo, Ring, or Nest Hello that you really prefer, and you don't mind paying them each month, I would just go with the Eufy. It won't disappoint.

This thing is well worth the money. The price is reasonable, even better when you get it on sale. It does motion detection as well as people (but not facial) detection. So you can set it so it doesn't go off when a car drives by, but will start recording if someone walks up to your door. Storage is a bit limited at only 16GB, but I do like that the storage is all in the home base unit (which also serves as the ringer for the doorbell). Set up is easy, and I haven't even had to charge up the battery once since I initially installed it, and I've had it for about a month and a half. Last time I checked, it was at about 69%, so you definitely get a few months per charge. Night vision on this thing is fantastic. I can see all the way to the street with it in almost total darkness thanks to the IR LEDs on it. The biggest benefit is that there is no cloud subscription required! No having to worry about it being crippled out of the box and only truly unlocks past a paywall. The purchase price is all you need and you're up and running. Super valuable. Another feature, though I don't use it - it can interface with your existing analog doorbell. Meaning if you already have a regular one, you can wire this up to it to use the existing chime. Not many models will let you do that, so definitely another benefit. Eufy is Anker. Same guys that make your favorite power bank. A trusted name in my home. Okay, now for the bads (not many): You have to take it down to charge it. The battery isn't removable. The whole unit plugs in via USB to the home base to charge (or wall charger, if you have one from a cell phone). Speed - it's not always the snappiest when detecting people. Meaning I've had someone come to my door and it didn't detect them until they stood there for about 15 seconds. So maybe a quick thief would be able to get away with stealing something off your doorstep. Thankfully I haven't tested that. Other than those two gripes, I'm really happy with it. I'd only really take 1/2 a star off for them but not a full star (hence 5 not 4 stars) Oh, and I bought some vinyl siding clips to mount it from another store. Worked like a charm and this thing isn't going anywhere unless I want it to.

I had been considering a video doorbell and, after much research, I decided on Eufy. I chose it for a couple of reasons. First, I didn't have an existing doorbell so this battery operated model allowed me to set it up without an electrician. Also, the battery can last up to one year on a charge. In addition, the home base means that the videos are stored locally and not in a cloud. The quality of the product and the picture quality are both outstanding. It's easy to set-up and to integrate with a smart assistant (i.e. Alexa). The app is also easy to use.

The 2K picture quality is great when people come to your door but the motion is a little laggy sometimes if you not connected to existing doorbell you will have this problem. No monthly fees and come with 16 GB of local Storage built into the white hub. You can delete your recordings & motion alerts in the app. if you run out of the 16 GB The camera will record over the old videos so you never running out of storage.

I looked at doorbells that you don't have to pay a monthly fee and found there aren't many out there. Of those, I took a chance on the Eufy 2K due the mostly positive reviews on Amazon. Some pros and cons I found: Pros: Really sharp picture. Excellent night vision. Human detection (vs. motion detection) is nearly perfect. It is very responsive. Eufy support via email is very responsive. They reply within one or two business days. Allows wiring to the existing doorbell circuit. My doorbell transformer is ~ 20 volts (spec'd at 16) and 10 VA. Now I can livestream or set it to record longer video and don't have to care about running the battery down. Can set it to ring the house's existing doorbell when wired up the existing circuit. The homebase also will ring if you want it to. Cons: Battery life. I was losing about 1% a day, which for me would mean it would need a recharge in three months if I only ran it off the battery. There is a problem with the sound cutting out every two seconds or so when livestreaming. Eufy support is looking into that. Eufy's documentation leaves a lot to be desired. You're mostly on your own to figure stuff out. I recommend this to those who can handle setting up things on their phone/tablet by themselves and who don't like paying yet another monthly fee.

I liked to give it 5 stars but there are some flaws that need to be addressed and hopefully can be done with a firmware update. The storage of the home base 2 is limited to the 16gb internal storage without being able to use the usb slot to add more storage with a usb flash drive. The original home base came with a 16gb micro-sd card and port/slot that could be upgraded to 128gb so not sure why they would get rid of that option for additional storage. I heard Anker/Eufy will have it to where you can use the usb slot for additional storage in the comming future. Hopefully that is true and at least be able to add 128gb or more since it should be better then the original model. Also the live feed video is delayed around 10 seconds sometimes more which seems more then its competitors. My blink mini camera has a lot less delay maybe 1 second or 2 tops in live mode. Picture quality is good and i like the look and feel of the doorbell especially compared to its other competitors like ring that look cheaply made. Doorbell notification are almost instant and does a good job. Motion detection is a little slower at detecting. App is easy to use an loaded with features you can set and adjust. As of this current review I've only had it for a week so have still not used all the features. Overall happy with this purchase so far.

Really like this doorbell/camera. I was able to set it up with my existing doorbell so the battery is always charged. (Another doorbell/camera I tried was suppose to work with existing doorbells and wiring, but it turned out my doorbell setup was too old to work with that system). The video quality and sensitivity are great. Initially I wasn’t getting 2 way audio between my iPhone and the doorbell. I called the support line and talked with Jeb and he explained how to activate it. It turned out to be something I didn’t notice in the instructions. It was an easy fix - just tap a button on the screen while in “Liveview” and it worked fine. Jeb was very patient and also helped in checking on the app settings on my iPhone. One of the more positive tech support calls I have had in a long time. He was able to pick up on my call within just a few minutes which was also very much appreciated. Other features I like include not having a monthly subscription and being able to download videos and pictures to my iPhone or send as attachments to my email. This will ensure I can keep critical video and pictures beyond when the local storage on the Homebase might fill up and begin to write over earlier files.

I love the Eufy Video doorbell. With the pandemic, I'm getting many more deliveries dropped off at the front door. So, I can see and communicate with everyone that rings the doorbell or get motion alerts with video recording of deliveries. It was super easy to setup and install. After 2.5 months, I haven't had any problems. I turned up the sensitivity for motion to the max setting. I get lots of alerts throughout the day, but not too many false alerts. And, with more alerts, you won't get 6 months on the rechargeable battery. So what! It only takes a few hours to get a full charge, then it lasts for a few months again. I'd rather get more alerts than less alerts, but you can tune it to your own desire. Lots of features to manage the doorbell camera. This doorbell has the wired and wireless installation option. I had an old wired doorbell, but the location was not good for the camera, so the wireless feature in really nice. The base is the actual doorbell chime and that is located in my office and not loud enough to hear everywhere in the house. So, I purchased a couple of Echo dots and the doorbell can also ring on the Echo devices, so I have a chime on each level. Thank you, Anker for your Eufy product line.

I'm giving this product a 4 only because the mounting screws are made of soft metal and it's easy to strip the philips heads. Other than that, setup is easy except that the installation procedure doesn't do an initial test before mounting the unit outside, but that's easy to overcome. It works as advertised and I'm still learning the features, but it accurately detects a human at the door without ringing the doorbell (think package dropoff). A ring of the doorbell creates a second alert and you can talk to the visitor though the cell phone app. The human detection is enabled in the settings. You can download event videos to your phone. No subscription is required, videos are stored in the home base (hope a burglar doesn't steal that before I download the video), and the system is expandable (you can add cameras and other devices).

Great picture and video. Love that there are no monthly fees and everything is stored locally. Easy to set up. Batteries last about 2 months with someone(my son) ringing the bell several times a day. It has a micro usb to recharge the internal battery, takes about an hour or 2 to recharge

So I looked into all of the video doorbells and the features. Most all of them have monthly costs the would soon exceed the original cost of the unit. After having this video doorbell for ~ 6 months, I am very impressed. Way better video than the ring and it keeps video for months with the memory it comes with. I live on an main street so I get lots of videos of people walking on the sidewalk and I do need to charge the unit every two months, not 6, but it keeps the videos for 3 months. If if need to download the clips, no problem. This is the best value, bang for the buck, you could ever get. Not a paid reviewer, I got nothing for this other than the satisfaction of giving a great review to a great product. Every happy with this product, even bought my girl friend one. If you have a working door bell you can have that system wired into this one and never have to charge the battery!
