We loved this camera.... no required plans... good notifications. Some issues with connecting quickly enough to be able to communicate with whoever is at the door, however was always good enough for our needs. The problem? 2 years, 2 months in and the storage is full... can't format it.. followed instructions.. contacted support.. NOTHING. We've got ourselves a bricked camera and it's the earlier model without an SD card slot. We are completely out of luck... It would be OK if it just meant we couldn't keep footage but no no... with the memory completely full there is no way to get notifications of anything now. It's now a prop for people to see when they come by. Really sad.

INSTALLATION This doorbell requires AC voltage to operate properly. It does not have a battery backup like other Eufy products. Fortunately, if you already have an existing doorbell, it will most likely operate at the required 24V AC that this unit requires. However, you should check voltage with an appropriate meter prior to installation to verify. Once, I removed my old doorbell, installation took just a matter of minutes. Eufy includes several pigtails to make installation into your existing system frustration free. Anker’s instructions are easy to follow and they cover everything from how to install the doorbell, to how to modify and/or test your existing chime (a wireless chime is also included in the kit and works flawlessly), if you have any issues. All said and done, this hassle-free installation took about 10 minutes total. EUFY APP This is where Anker has spent a great deal of time making this an outstanding product. The installation and configuration of the doorbell couldn’t get much easier. Was it 100% issue free? No. But it was 99.9% issue free and a very well thought out and pleasant experience. Other manufacturers should do themselves a favor and sample the well-designed Eufy app. The one and only issue I encountered was a firmware update that wouldn’t install. For some reason, the app notified me that the doorbell needed an update, but wouldn’t push it to the device. The doorbell checks for updates every single night and updates itself automatically. The first night after installation, the doorbell downloaded its update installed it without issue. Weird. The app seamlessly walks you through the entire installation and configuration process. The app seems to touch on everything. I can’t really think of any issues left uncovered during installation. Anker did an outstanding job. The app covers everything from checking for the proper voltages, to setting activity zones, to programming what the doorbell looks at every day, etc. A user doesn’t need to read and interpret technical jargon. The app goes through step by step on how to properly configure your doorbell to get the most accurate notifications with minimal false alarms. Everything is represented by a series of pictures and examples. I hate to use this term, but it is literally fool-proof. PERFORMANCE This is my second Eufy doorbell. My previous Eufy doorbell has worked flawlessly since installation. This is now my second Eufy doorbell and I now have one on each of my entrances. I had owned Eufy’s competitor’s product for quiet some time before switching. I was hesitant at first, but am glad I did. I really do prefer Anker’s product over their main competitor. The images are clearer and have a higher resolution (2560 x 1920) vs (1920 x 1080). It is not just a higher resolution picture or image that makes the difference. The images are more detailed and less washed out in bright light or the dark of night. The Eufy uses WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) video processing and captures far more details in bright and dark scenes than my previous Pro model from their competitor. The notifications are slick too. Anker uses an AI chip in the doorbell that can distinguish what kind of activity the doorbell is capturing. When it sends you a text, it will tell you if it is an automobile or a human. If it is a human, the doorbell will analyze the image and give you an up close image of the person’s face, or if it can’t get it, will give you an image of the person in the text. It works nearly perfectly. One thing I do appreciate is the lack of redundant notifications. The competitor’s product would send me tons of notifications repeatedly. For example, if I was playing catch with my son, Eufy’s competitor would send me an alert every single time we would pass within viewing distance of the door. Same thing when I would mow. Every strip I cut, generated notification after notification. I don’t get that with the Eufy. I get one notification when it first senses an event and then similar events get ignored without my intervention. Not sure how Anker does it, but it works, and works great! ISSUES There are only 2 issues with this doorbell that I can think of: The first, and most significant issue is the lack of compatibility with the Eufy Homebase 2. Anker has promised compatibility is coming, but so far has not delivered. Why is this important? The Homebase 2 is a storage device that resides inside your house. It has 32GB of memory and records events from Eufy products. My older, battery powered doorbell uses this for its storage. This doorbell has 32GB of memory too, but it is built into the doorbell. So, if someone were slick enough, they could run up to your doorbell and snap it off with a large screwdriver. There goes your evidence. The second complaint is that the doorbell seems a tad slow to respond at times. If someone runs quick enough to your door, the doorbell will occasionally miss an image or fail to record the event. I may be able to solve this with a tweak to the doorbell’s sensitivity, but aside from this issue, the doorbell works just the way I want it with minimal false alarms, so I hate to tweak the settings too much. CONCLUSIONS This is an excellent product. In my opinion, Anker has a real winner on their hands. They have designed a product that performs nearly flawlessly with an app and user experience that is second to none. The Eufy app is one of the few apps that work as well on Android as it does on iOS. Great job Anker!! Even better, is that Anker doesn’t require you to pay a monthly fee for video storage. With an excellent, well detailed image, great 2 way communications, and an outstanding installation experience, Anker’s Eufy doorbell is an excellent product!!! I won’t be going back to their competitor. Well done Anker!

I did a lot of research before buying and installing this. It was easy to install and camera quality is excellent. It has also held up well through it’s first AZ summer, facing East directly into the sun for a large part of the day. However, the app seriously sucks. Each time I click the doorbell notifications it takes me to the app screen (live view) and just buffers. It will not display live view (from notifications) until you refresh or go back to the home screen and then click live view again. I sincerely wish Eufy would fix this bug because I have been considering finding a replacement. The ONLY reason I haven’t replaced it yet is because out of all the on-prem storage devices, this is the top for camera quality and I really don’t want to use a cloud based device.

Things I like: Great picture quality Continous recording Nice app Things I don't like: Motion detection is absolutely awful. There is no setting that works at my house or my parents. It seems to catch stuff when it feels like it. Tons of false alerts, yet can't catch me walking at a slight angle to the door. Does not work with homebase. Spoke with a representative at corporate who said there are "no plans at this time to add that functionality" Disappointing to say the least. I dont want cloud recording but when storage is only on the doorbell it kind of needs it but it is the only eufy device that doesn't have it. Those drawbacks are huge and unlikely to be resolved. I'd suggest looking elsewhere for a doorbell at this time.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It's unusual for this product to be acting like this, and we'd love to get you what you need!

Now the local storage is located in the video doorbell. But our product team is developing a feature to make the doorbell support backing up data to another device such as eufyCam's HomeBase. You can keep an eye on our latest news.

The field of view is 160° diagonal. Regarding the issue of alert, if possible, please try the following steps to see if the issue persists:
1.Set the “Motion defection” to be “Human only”. This is the most accurate detection and will reduce most false positives.
      2. Set up the activity zones to monitor the area you want to detect. Steps: side menu>my devices>motion detection>activity zone.
      3. A picture to show the surrounding environment and the view of the doorbell.
      4. A video clip showing the triggering problem.

If it doesn’t help, please reach out to us via [email protected] or call us at +1 (800) 988 7973. We are more than happy to assist you further.

I was new to the Eufy ecosystem. My house did not have any wiring for a doorbell and rather than use a battery operated one, I opted to run a new 18ga 2-wire cable for the doorbell. I bought a simple transformer from a big box store (you don't even need to install the chime part) as this comes with a portable chime box you can just plug in to any electrical outlet! The app and picture quality are pretty good and I like that I don't need to pay a monthly fee to have video saves!

The Best Video Doorbell by Far

This doorbell is the best video doorbell on the market in my opinion for these reasons: 1. It has very sharp, clear 2K videos. Nearly all other video doorbells are HD (1080 P). The video from this doorbell is far better than competitors. 2. Its "AI" human recognition is superb. If set up correctly, you will have almost no false alarms. This feature is second to none and it is a very important feature. 3. You can set up motion zones for alerts, which help prevent false alarms. 4. It comes with 16GB of memory which allow you to record 30 days of video (in 1080 HD resolution) if you feel the need to. 5. It recognizes a person a good 12' - 16' away from your door (depending on your activity zone setup) and records them coming. Remember, you do have to set up the doorbell correctly to get this working well. 6. It captures a separate still picture of the face of the person coming to the door besides recording video. The resolution isn't perfect but the photo is usuable. 7. There are no subscription fees to enable the advanced features, unlike Arlo, Ring and Nest doorbells. This is a BIG deal because you will be paying at least $10.00 a month for subcriptions with competitors and you won't have better performance. 8. The Eufy Doorbell works with 16V - 24V wiring from existing doorbells. 9. The Eufy doorbell is very attractive. The blue ring lights up for visitors to see at night. It looks really sharp and svelte. 10. The night vision on the Eufy doorbell is excellent. If there is no light at all, it will use infared light to get clear images. 11. If you set your porchlight to come when the doorbell is pushed (with a smart switch), then it will record color videos of visitors at night. 12. Eufy's customer service is excellent. They support their product well. 13. The doorbell works with both Alexa or Google Assistant. 14. It works with both Android and Apple phones. 15. The Eufy app brings up live video from the in 1-3 seconds. It is very quick. 16. You can speak to visitors through the doorbell and they can understand you. 17. The Eufy app is excellent. It notifies you in real-time if someone is at your door. 18. The doorbell is fairly easy to install. Mounting it flat on your house is the biggest challenge. The instructions are very clear. 19. Eufy provides and angled bracket to focus the doorbell camera in front of the door. 20. The camera is something like 16:10 in its framing. This allows you to see the ground right up to about 2'. 21. The camera has a feature that you can turn on to get rid of the "fish-eye" affect of the small lense and it works spectacularly. The video from this doorbell is just fantastic!

I like this video doorbell. It provides a great motion activated screenshot of faces walking towards my front door. I really like that I don't have to pay for cloud service and I can download the video clips and keep as long as I want. The zone motion setting was great also to ensure you're not receiving unwanted motion notifications. I did have to have my doorbell transformer changed to 16 to 24 volts in order for it to work.

Has great pictures and I like local storage. Our railing has a 3 inch round finial and it says there is a human several dozen times a night when a spider drops a web from the eave and the porch light flashes off it. Motion plus round knob of wood equals a person to it.

Its a good video doorbell, my main issue is that you have to use their chime for the wired one, and more then likely you will need to replace the transformer that the doorbell uses. Not having the fee for the recording is nice. The main issue is that the customer support is terrible, I got the doorbel set up, I connected to the alexa and google home, but for some reason they only let the google hub be the one that notifies you someone is at the front door. Alexa does that and its connected in the app but nothing happenes, I talked to eufy but they want me to record a video of me doing it on my phone that I use, I asked how I was supposed to do it they told use another phone. It's been installed for 3 weeks and I like the video quality, app and speaker, but I'm really disappointed with the range and blind spot. I expected it to detect activity approaching my house from the road and cover my front yard but it only activates within 12' on sensitivity 4 of 5 with no activity zone restrictions enabled. It also doesn't activate approaching my porch from an angle (from landscaping and along house) even though it's clearly within the camera's field of view. My neighbors competitors doorbell picks up movement throughout their front yards and the road with ease. The purpose of my purchase was for situational awareness, but that requires a further activity range to provide timely notifications.
