Customers are saying

Customers admire the SoloCam L40's excellent camera quality, long battery life, and ease of use. Many appreciate the bright spotlight and effective night vision capabilities, along with the convenient built-in storage and wireless functionality. However, some users find the motion detection could be improved, and a few note that the camera's size is somewhat substantial. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the concerns raised by a small number of users.

Setup was easy. Wifi connection was good. 2K videos are very cleared during the day but at night quality seem to downgrade to 1080p. Motion detection is good. Video playback is very slow compared to eufycam 2 pro at the same location. Spotlight provide plenty of light but only work in complete darkness. I have a small garage light outside only provide some lighting and the spotlight wouldn't turn on with motion detection (one of the two reasons I bought this camera for the front yard to provide more lighting on motion detection). Usb-c connection instead of micro usb, thus, haven't found a good solar panel with c-port to provide constant power. No anti-thef detection. Can't speak on battery life yet since I only have for few days.?To keep or return?

Easy to install and a little confusing to set it up on the phone, purchase three of them, one of them the life of the battery is declining very rapidly I will return it or exchange for another one, it is worth $100 for the deal of the day and the video quality is good at daylight and nigthtime

Getting spot light to connect was a breeze, down loading app was too. Lots of features on app, modes are home, disarmed, and away. Can turn spot light on over app, or alarm, yes it has an alarm too, and its loud. Picture quality is good, sends notifications to phone very fast.

The video is amazing cams, very clean and clear video, you can programmed to catch just people movement or every movement, the only downside is the battery charge won't last too long, you need to go up where you install it the cams and charge it, that's a very inconvenient

Pretty great. We have it facing outward from our front door and the recognition of humans is great at over 35 feet. Spotlight goes on at dark if someone gets within range and will certainly scare anyone off. Even can notice car traffic.

I love these cameras. There is no monthly fee. I can real time talk to who is on camera. I can set off a alarm to scare away an intruder. It's wireless with a superlong battery life. You can change the sensitivity. And its super easy to set up and mount.

Nice upgrade from my 1080P Eufy

I have an Eufy 2k video doorbell, Eufy 2k solar security camera and a 1080P spotlight security camera (all of which work very well). So, I was excited to try this 2k upgrade replacing my current Eufy 1080P security spotlight camera (which requires a base to store videos). I was not dis-appointed as it was easy to setup and takes great quality video. If you are new to security cameras and/or want a compact all-in-one unit not requiring a base – I would recommend this camera. An added plus was I had purchased a solar panel for the 1080P Eufy and I found it works with this new camera, which was a nice surprise – although I had to get a mini-usb to usb-c adapter. Also, it used the same base attachment as the 1080P so didn’t have to redo that either. Nicely packaged and comes with; Security Camera (relatively small) with adjustable 600 Lumens spotlight. Onboard 8GB AES128 secured storage. Meets IP67 standard -indicating how watertight, heat resistant, etc. a unit is. 90dB siren (which I did not test). 3-foot 6-inch USB-C charging cable No AC brick/adapter to plug charging cable into. This seems the case with many manufacturers now, I guess they assume everyone has several lying around. Which is certainly the case with me – they are everywhere in my house. Small cone shaped camera mount including screws and wall inserts to secure screws. Quick Start Guide 24/7 Monitoring Security Warning stickers Was very easy to un-pack but before I did anything though I charged the unit which took several hours. Setup is pretty similar to all of my Eufy devices; Install Eufy app – since I already had it installed I just chose the add a device option, selected the SoloCam from the list of products provided and it walked me through synching and installation (uses your phone to scan camera). It uses 2.4 Ghz band to connect to wi-fi so I made sure my phone was using that band before adding unit. Once added app will walk you thru installation options as well as do’s and don’ts. Also once connected you can access the camera through app regardless of wi-fi or cellular connection and can be done remotely from anywhere. Once added there are multiple settings, etc. you have access to. Since I have other devices, I was able to re-order the way they showed up in the app home screen. You can also choose whether there is a water mark, date/time or both or none on your recordings as well as rename the camera. Set-up how you receive alerts, set whether spotlight comes on and how bright, night vision, motion detection sensitivity, power manger, video quality, storage, wi-fi connection, there is a mounting guide, and option to restart or remove device. Since I had added the Solar Panel I checked Power manager to ensure that it was working and getting enough sun to charge. Camera is about 20 feet and 3 walls away from nearest mesh unit so wi-fi signal is good and I have no problem streaming/viewing 2K video. Day and Night motion and sound detection are extremely good with very little lag time starting recording. You can set the detection level as well as recording all movement or only humans – it uses its built in AI to decide. I have it set to all. Having option to view live is nice but eats into the battery. It provides accurate and fast recording with 2K resolution being very good with nice color. Doesn’t get nearly as grainy when zooming in as my 1080P did. Field of view is great and records in color at night when you have the flood light option on. But I use infrared only so have spotlight turned off – I only used once for this review. 2-way audio is available also - you can also speak through the camera speaker which again I only tried once and its reasonably clear It is very easy to download an event onto your phone if you want to save it. Can be used with Alexa or Google but I didn’t try either. 1-year limited warranty. Negatives; Can’t add/upgrade memory. It would be pretty much perfect if you could upgrade but having access to memory/battery probably would compromise the weather sealing/rating? Since I already had the base, it would be nice to have option to use its storage. If camera is stolen, you won’t have any record as memory will be gone with the camera. To help avoid this I installed camera so that a ladder is needed to access it. I guess an argument could be made that base could be taken if home broken into. There is no computer application to work with Windows, etc. So, you must use android or apple to access. Must recharge battery at some point unless you can keep it plugged in or spring for optional solar panel. Overall, very nice and recommend. Just make sure you go through all the options in the app so you can fine tune to your liking.

The Eufy Solocam L40 offers affordable and reliable 2k or 1080p wireless video recording solutions. Since I already have Eufy products, I just add another device using the app as you would have done in the past. Download Eufy Security, make a login, add the device to your app, and you are ready to go. Everything you need to mount this is provided in the box. Long screws and also a set of wall anchors with screws to match are provided in this kit. If you are in the market for smart security, Eufy is where to start looking first. After installation, reviewing the footage will make you happy with its resolution and clarity. License plates and faces are clearly visible with resolution enough to punch in and extract detail. The app and setup process is extremely easy to use. There are moments with buffering but usually, they work themselves out after a few seconds. I like the fact there are NO FEES, local video storage, and it integrates well with Alexa and Google. With my Alexa ecosystem, all my Alexa speakers are also chimes to let me know someone is at the door while I am anywhere in my house. Everything I could ask for in a home surveillance system. The inclusion of AI reduces false alarms and does a great job of filtering people from the rest of the alerts. Below are a few thoughts I'd like to share regarding my likes and dislikes with the system. +Easy setup using the app and scanning QR Code after connecting the Solo Spot Cam 2K to WiFi. +Strong solid connection and the camera uses AI onboard to detect people in just 200 milliseconds to minimize false alerts and keep your phone quiet. +Built-in storage 8GB claiming 2 months of storage encrypted under AES128 military-grade encryption to protect your privacy. +600 lumens of focused light with color temperature control! +Alerts are almost instant! +No monthly fees! +Water resistant IP67 +90dB siren built-in with flashing light and 2-way communication all in a self-contained easy to use and install solution. +Battery is rated at 120 days on a single charge but of course, this will vary based on the amount of traffic and triggers that cause it to record. This in theory should mean you only charge it 3 times per year! -Big and heavy but good thing you don't have to hold it. It's a lot larger than other solutions out there, this makes it stand out more and make it less discrete. -Must enter "Power Manager" for an exact battery percentage -Planned obsolescence - Batteries not removable or replaceable. When it dies you must buy new hardware. On-board storage is not removable or upgradeable either - two pretty important points of failure on wireless security cameras. As you can see, there are a few things that make me scratch my head but there are WAAAAAAAAAAY more positives in my opinion. This system is excellent and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to pay monthly fees or pay for overprices cameras out there. Eufy has created a sweet spot in the market where you don't have to get less when you pay less in this market!
