    Great Card, Loud Fan

This card was a big upgrade from my GTX 560Ti. I was more concerned with Elder Scrolls Online, which turns out to be a CPU hog rather than a GPU hog. So after installing this card on a build with a 1st Gen Intel i7, I was somewhat disappointed with the improvements. I didn't run a benchmark, but my averaging frames per second in ESO only increased about 10-15. In other games however, I was very pleased with the upgrade in performance. I bought the card in store, so I did not get the Witcher - 3 free download. I did however, get a nice sized poster, two stickers, and an emblem to stick on my PC. Overall it's well worth the asking price. A good choice if you're looking for a great card that won't burn a hole in your wallet.

    Great card, no noise

I haven't been able to test this with many games yet but I played it with Thief with max settings at 1080p and it stayed at 60 fps most of the time, the times it dropped below that was probably because of my aging mid-range PC that I built in 2012. I will be testing it on a new game that came with the card, The Witcher 3, very soon and I'll probably update my results with that game as well. Also, this card is very quite, there isn't any whine that some people complain that some of the GTX 970 cards seem to have.

I upgraded from the GTX 960ME, which was a great card, and case candy with it's led light and dragon backplate. Games looked good with that card, but now they look friggen real! Only downside is that it had no backplate or led lights. Kinda ugly, but man it kicks booty! Price Vs performance though, this GPU is the SWEET SPOT!

I've owned countless video cards over the years and I have to say this is one of those rare cards that just work well out of the box. Very fast card, replacing my SLI 480's. This single card stomps them both with little fuss and absolutely no drama. Drivers are fluid, no heat or noise issues, no weird compatibility problems. Just works. Stock clocks are excellent with no need to overclock. If you are looking for a great card and don't want to wait for next gen, this is the card to get.

    Excellent Videocard For The Price

If you're looking for an amazing mid-range vidoecard this is a great choice. I can play most games in 1080p on High/Ultra settings even with an Intel 2600k and 16gb of memory. I came from a GTX 570 which lasted me 5 years. This year I will need to upgrade my CPU though as that was installed the same time as the GTX 570. Especially after seeing the minimum system requirements for Quantum Break.

I upgraded from the GeForce GT 630. This was my first upgrade to a desktop I've had for about 4 years now. With the upgraded power supply and graphics card, the desktop runs quieter and can actually play games like Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Grand Theft Auto V, and Cities Skylines without having to have everything set to minimum and watch the FPS still be around 10. I've maxed all the settings out on The Division which I got for free, and the game looks beautiful. The other games I've got, I've maxed everything (except GTAV, haven't played it yet) and what a difference the games look like. I wanted to spend $200 on a GTX 960 but decided to bump to the 970, and I'm glad I did.

I went from a Sapphire R9 270X Toxic Edition to one of these EVGA SSC 970s a couple months ago. It gave a noticeable increase to my framerates. The only issue I had with the first card was every time the fan kicked on it made a knocking sound. At first I thought it was some kind of coil whine. I pulled the card out of my PC and noticed that the power supply wire for one of the two fans was being struck by a fan blade. After re-routing the wire slightly I have had no more issues with noise. After about 3 months of having the 1st card my birthday rolled around and I decided to pick up a second card. SLI is working great and I can run all my games with maxed out video settings. As of now I am only using 1920x1080 resolution but Christmas is right around the corner and it might be time to go to a 2k or 4k display. I have read the reviews and see the memory limits for 4k gaming but if I am already at 4k resolution I would have no issues turning down, or OFF!, anti-aliasing to free up memory and give a little FPS boost. Anyway, great card. I don't care if it doesn't have dual bios. Both cards run silently most of the time and when the fans do kick on they are quiet. I have watched both 970s clock speeds with GPUz and I have never seen either card throttle due to temp. Max fan speed on the hotter card has been just below 50% (The top card in my machine does run 5-10°C hotter than the bottom one due to air flow restrictions. I'm going to add another case fan to help move air but the 2 cards are very close together by design when run in SLI).

Best video card I've ever owned

Bought this to replace an EVGA GTX 660. This thing is blazing fast. My old Phenom II is holding it back for certain, but I can still tell it's a monster card. In addition to looking nice, it has the ACX 2.0 active cooler. My idle temps sit around 22-25 degrees at 20% fan speed. Amazing for air cooling. It's also whisper quiet up to about 60% fan speed. I haven't noticed any coil whine either. I've been an EVGA man since my first GTX 275. The performance and reliability of that card sold me on EVGA and NVIDIA. Before then I had been using AMD cards almost exclusively, even back to the Radeon 9700 days. I'll keep buying EVGA as long as they keep impressing me.

Great Card for gaming in 1080P Resolution

I just built a gaming machine for the first time in years and was amazed at all the different options available. The first lesson I learned is that you can't rely strictly on specifications after buying the MSI Radeon R7 370 GAMING 4GB GDDR5 card, which has comparable specifications to the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 card with which it was replaced. The R7 is not a bad card for the price ($179.99), however it doesn't compete with the GTX 970. I wanted a system that would allow me to play games at the highest settings and the R7 370 fell short on some games. All the reviews I read suggested that the GTX 970 was a better card and I totally agree after having purchased it. It appears the best way to compare cards is through benchmarks. I ran a benchmarking program with both cards and the GTX 970 was the clear winner by a significant margin. I know this is a review for the EVGA GTX 970 Card, but think it will still be useful to someone considering this card since it uses the same GPU.

The three stars is not really accurate because I can't actually review the card itself so I'm going to review other things. I have a 3 year old HP Pavillion with an AMD PCI express card in it. I figured plugging this guy in would fix a blue screening issue I am having with the currently installed video card.. So the first issue I encountered was that my power supply wasn't sufficient for this card. I spent $127.00 on an awesome 650 watt power supply to get this card fired up. This card requires a 500 watt power supply. I hooked up the power supply and away we went (so I thought). As it turns out, my HP's BIOS won't handle this card even after flashing with the latest version of the BIOS. So now do I build a new computer and apply this card or do I return the card and purchase something less? I really don't have the time to build a PC, it's easier for me to simply order a new one. In the meantime, I'm stuck with a new very expensive power supply that I probably won't use and can't return! I called the company (EVGA) and they answered the phone within a minute on a late Sunday afternoon and they sounded local (if you know what I mean). So I give the company a lot of credit for that! They weren't very helpful only because it wasn't their product giving the hard time. They actually suggested that it's my BIOS and I have no reason to not believe them. I give 5 stars for customer service. I just wish I could have enjoyed this card.

I never thought I would spend close to $400 on a video card. A friend convinced me to at least try it. I did and I'm glad. The setup was super easy. I plugged in the card, started Windows 10, and before I could even go to the website to update the drive, it had already found the proper resolution. I decided to try Alien since it ran so slow on my old card. Full resolution and no loss of frame rate! Are you kidding me? Every game I have played so far looks awesome. Can't wiat to fire up Doom!

Fantastic Graphics Card For Present and Future

I've been a console gamer all of my life until recently when I built my own PC. I was given a fairly old graphics card that made performance in my games even better. I always knew it could be even better, but I never had the money set aside for a rather large purchase like this. I purchased this card on June 3rd, 2016 for $309.00. The one I wanted was not in stock and I really didn't feel like waiting another week for it to be back in stock. No regrets here. The card was fairly simple to install besides a bit of confusion regarding the connectors to the power supply (in order to use this card it MUST have power from your power supply, so I would recommend a minimum 500W or better. I have 600W and it's plenty.) because in the manual it tells you to use the two connectors that came with the card however if you locate the two plugs from the power supply and plug them into the back of the card you'll be fine. Other than that, installation was a complete breeze and I was up and running in about 20 minutes. The difference is literally night and day. I get about 5 times the frames per second than before, and things move much smoother. One example is the Valve title "Left 4 Dead 2." Before this card I was averaging about 80 FPS, which is decent. Installing this took it to the maximum frames that the game allows which is 300 with barely any dips. I recommend this card to anyone looking to enhance their machines in the middle range. I would never spend more than this on a graphics card simply because this card handles every single thing I throw at it with ease. I know for some it may be worth it to invest in a more expensive card, but this is all I need. Not one bit of disappointment will come from this card, trust me. Some may say this fan isn't completely silent, and believe me it isn't but it isn't so loud is grating. It runs when it needs to in order to cool it down, and it states that in the manual.

I bought two of these for an SLI configuration. These cards are simply fantastic. They are not the top of the line but they perform higher than most. Reviews that I saw online spoke about the performance of these cards being better than even the 980gtx cards and for the cost ration doesn't even come close to this card. Added note, make sure that you have a power supply that is high enough wattage to power the card or multiple cards. My 1000w power supply was more than enough but it started to fail about two weeks ago and no longer supplied enough power to run both cards. I replaced the power supply with an EVGA 1050w (80 Plus Gold) Supernova power supply and the entire system runs like its brand new again.

Great GPU! Great value for the the performance the card provides. This card is likely the best price to performance and power usage ratio with the option to use SLI for additional performance boost.

Just bought my gtx970 and saw that I get a free game with it and was too excited while walking out. Here I am home after walking out of the store and I didn't get a code and I even gave my member info. Only reason for 4 stars. Should I be getting the free game after buying in store? I didn't see anything about it being an online only.

If you are looking to upgrade like I was than this card will serve you well. I was looking at getting either the 970 or 390. The vram issue with the 970 was holding me back but after doing research and finding out that the 390 would have a hard time using the full 8gb because of limitations mabe my decision a bit easier. I have no regrets getting the 970, no vram issues even with slightly heavy modded games, and overlclocks to 980 reference speeds with ease. My only complaint is that I never received my code for mgs v and not sure what to do.
