Customers love the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB XC3 ULTRA GAMING graphics card for its exceptional performance, great price, and high frame rates in games. Many appreciate its size and quiet operation, along with the excellent warranty. However, some users noted that the card can run a bit warm and that the power consumption is relatively high. A few customers also mentioned concerns about the LHR version.

Great GPU that fits in a SFF PC

Upgraded to this from my 2070 Super FE, and it performs much better. I’m able to run recent games at 60 FPS in 4K, and most games barely tax this GPU. I used to top out at 60 FPS at 1440p for most games. It also comfortably fits in my small form factor PC.

Great 2 slot 285mm graphics card! It's hard to get a graphics card let a lone a 3080 that is 2 slots and 285mm besides this and the Founder Edition. It runs great so far, a little on the pricey side but it is what it is.

Only buy this if you're okay with undervolting

This is difficult to review and recommend because whether it is a good or bad choice depends on the individual.
If you have read reviews about thermals and are wondering "83C is no big deal. Why are people complaining?", the answer is "thermal throttling". And if you wonder how that will affect you and how lowering the voltage and clock speed can increase performance, I'll try to answer that for you.
You may start a game or a benchmark with the GPU clock running at its advertised speed of about 1965Mhz, but you will see it drop almost immediately as temperatures rise, and it happens much sooner than you'd think. Approaching 70C, it's already begun. By the time it reaches the max temp in the low-to-mid 80's, your clock speed will be down into the 1700's. This is where undervolting helps.
By lowering the voltage, you'll effectively lock the GPU clock while simultaneously achieving lower temps. For reference, I've set up 2 different profiles in MSI Afterburner: 1860Mhz at .850mV, and 1920Mhz at .875mV.
Yes, these are both lower than the advertised clock speed of this GPU. However, those speeds are not going down as my temperatures rise. So, during heavy load (gaming, benchmarking etc..), my average performance with these profiles is considerably better than if I'd left the GPU at stock settings, where the high temperatures would cause the GPU clock to plummet. Not only that, but the power draw is potentially lower and the temperatures are lower as well.
Speaking of temperature control, the default fan curve for this card is terribly ineffective. How you should adjust yours really depends on your tolerance for noise. I've adjusted my fan curve to be fairly aggressive, as my case is not close to me and I game with a headset on and won't hear it.
If you've never undervolted and are intimidated by it, don't be. You can't hurt anything. Just watch some videos and do some reading to get a sense of how to do it and where to start with your GPU. You'll quickly get the hang of it and may even enjoy it when you begin seeing positive results. I used others' results as a place to start, and if I found that it was unstable for me (stress tests and benchmarks crashed or froze), I understood that I needed to bump the voltage up a bit and try again.
For testing, I start with Superposition, which is free, then I run a benchmark in Heaven, which is free, then I finish up with benchmarks in Hitman 3. I've had instances where I thought my profiles were stable until I ran the Hitman 3 benchmark and couldn't get through it. So it's important that you test thorougly before assuming everything is good to go.
With my profiles and my custom fan curve, the 1080p/high benchmarks in Superposition show a max temp in the low-to-mid 60's. At 4k it was 69-70 and at 8k I maxed at 74C.
At stock settings, I'd be in the 80's during the 1080p benchmark and would have a much lower score due to the thermal throttling.
Of course, your mileage may vary depending on your particular GPU and the airflow of your case.
Ultmatately, if you have options, I simply wouldn't recommend this GPU. If you can find one that has better cooling at a similar price point, then get that instead. If you're desperate to have something now and this is all you can find, and if you want to undervolt, repaste or water cool it, then this may be a good value for you.
At the end of the day, a 3080 is a 3080 and this is going to perform well for you.

Great performance and warranty. Capable of smooth and crisp gameplay on any game on the market today. Much better value than 3080Ti/3090. Compared to a 3080 Ti I only get 20 fps less when on max settings, 2K resolution on Cold War

Good card for a good price. The card gets a little hot but that’s most 3080s. The only other card that will beat this in price is the founders edition.

After over a year of page refreshing, and items in my cart disappearing, I was finally able to get a 3080 at a reasonable price. I got this card to replace an EVGA 1080 SC Gaming. If it wasn't for VR and Microsoft Flightsim 2020, I would not have needed an upgrade. I decided to stick with Nvidia over AMD with the hope that DLSS will make it in to my favorite VR flight sims. I have had 3 prior cards from EVGA, and their customer support and warranty is top notch. This card is a 10G-P5-3885-KL with a BB specific model # so you can't do a price match.
As for this particular card, out of the box it had coil whine and fans were running too often. Physically, this is one of the smaller 3080 cards, and I had no issues mounting it in my existing case. It only has 2 8-pin connectors and is power limited compared to some higher end cards.
It requires some tweaking for each person's uses. I went with an undervolt and slight underclock using AfterBurner. I have the card at [email protected] . The card runs nice and quiet and stays under 65 deg while playing msfs in vr. The coil whine is reduced with these settings and the power draw maxes out around 250w.
Anybody that plays MSFS in vr knows that it can be a challenge to get good frame rates with high visual settings. After a lot of tweaking (Oculus debug tool, OpenXR Toolkit, Nvidia Control Panel, and in game) I have come to a balance of settings that give great visual quality, consistent frame rates, and minimal stutters with this card. My hope is that when DLSS is released for MSFS the experience will only improve.
As for non-vr gaming, I can't really add much feedback since my monitor is 2560x1080 and this card is overkill for most games.
To wrap up... this card is "only" 10gb which might cost you a few percent performance to a 12gb 3080. Undervolting is the way to go with these cards, so honestly I don't see the need for a crazy cooling solution or 3 8-pin connectors, unless you really plan on overclocking. Five stars for the price to performance ratio, and good ability to undervolt.
