Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with Fallout 76's gameplay, open world, and action-packed features, citing the beautiful scenery and many areas to explore. However, some players have reported issues with bugs, server stability, and occasional lag. The lack of a compelling storyline was also a common criticism. While many found the price reasonable, the game's technical issues remain a point of concern for some.

This game isnt as bad as its launch was. A few bugs here and there that bethesda is still ignoring. But if you're looking for something fun while waiting for another game to come out it is decent to play.

I’m a big fan of the fallout series. While this is not a traditional fallout game it is still a fun experience to me. You still get the open world adventure. If you wish you can play with friends too. It is quite different playing a fallout game with no npcs. There are still bugs like in any other Bethesda game. While they have provided some inconvenience they have not ruined my experience. I would expect that future updates will fix the major issues. If you are a fan of exploring the map and the base building mechanics from fallout 4 then this game would likely appeal to you.

No real story, no NPC’s, server crashing almost every time you play, quest breaking bugs that force you to restart the game to complete, poor framerates. Definitely not a good investment of 60 dollars. go buy red dead 2 instead

I'll start off by saying yes, this game is very flawed. You will get kicked from servers every now and then, and the game is filled with tons of glitches and bugs. With that said, I have over a hundred hours into the game, and am really enjoying it. Go into it expecting a Multiplayer Fallout sandbox game, with heavy emphasis on survival and exploration, and you won't be disappointed. The negative reviews definitely have fair criticism, however most make it out to be a bad game. When the game works, which for me has been more often than not, it is a load of fun. Played with buddies, or alone, the game is hours upon hours of fun!

I actually enjoy this game. I get to explore more of a world that I enjoy but with friends (or strangers) there are some bugs and glitches but hopefully it will get new patches

Overallit is a good game. Still some bugs that need to be fixed within the game. Lack of human NPCs is kind of annoying. Good RPG, but not as good as the previous Fallouts.

The team at Bethesda have developed an experience that within a few short hours of early gameplay is worthy of the bargain bin. MMO tropes that by todays standards are instantly outdated. Running on an outdated engine that while continuing to cough out black smoke has created the most colourful Fallout setting to date. The lack of non player characters creates the impression of a dull world, devoid of life and personality. The main quest line tasks the player with the same mission structure on an agonising repetitive loop. Go here, retrieve this, return, a point which is broken up with gunfights with foes both old and new. Renditions of Fallout favorites such as Ghouls and foes conjured from folk law of West Virginia itself are welcome. However one can struggle with Bethesdas' continuing lack of combat development, with times firing a rifle feels like a BB gun. One such gameplay addition carried over from previous titles is the V.A.T.S system, pausing instances of gameplay and allows the player to target individual body parts, compensating for Fallouts abysmal aiming mechanics. The new iteration of the V.A.T.S system however, built for multiplayer is a pointless inclusion, clunky, unresponsive and seems to have only been included because "Its a Fallout game". So called independent servers are laughable and continue to plague various players experiences with connection problems. Glitches have from launch disconnected players from the game, freezing gameplay and in more extreme instances erased game data. Nauseating frame-rate, connection issues and under developed gameplay mechanics solidify why this title deserves nothing short than the full force of the atom.

I never played a fallout game before and I have always heard great things about the Fallout franchise. So with all the hype and marketing, I pre-ordered Fallout 76 and got the Steelbook for free. Seemed like a no brainer to me. After playing it for a while, the game is just okay. That said, given the popularity of the franchise and all the hype and talk about this release, I can see why so many people are disappointed with this game. I can get past the flaws and glitches and I'm sure they will get patched. The biggest problem is the game is just overall boring and I don't think any patch will ever fix that. Spending lots of time just wandering around and hardly being able to interact with anyone or even anything is definitely not ideal to what gamers want. I'm sure Bethesda put a lot of work into this and had a lot of good intentions when making this game. But it's just not a winning formula.

This game was a mess of bugs and glitches at launch. It took Bethesda a while to fix them. They have released some more content and is a better game now. The open world is beautiful and has endless things to do.

The game is fun but will get boring quickly if you don't play with others. Story and exploration is kinda meh compared to other Fallout games. There are tons of bugs that make the game unplayable at times.

Played this game in the summer when it was free on the psn. It was on sale at Christmas time and bought one. It’s fun for 20$. You get to build a bunch of stuff and explore a bunch of areas and kill a bunch of weird creatures. It’s fun to build the items in the game. I only wish there is a way to drive to the areas it takes a long time to walk to places even with fast travel. Also the spawning is bad. You could have walked up to a building and nothing is there and then a bunch of stuff spawns in around you. But knowing that work fast and carry the strongest gun around the place your in. The spawning is the biggest problem with the game.

to be fair, i bought it, played for a short time and quit. After 6 months passed, I started playing again with a new character. It could be the stay-at-home orders and boredom or it could be that enough has changed since i last played that it is enjoyable. Either way, the wastelanders DLC (free) came out and it is a pretty good game. Painfully slow on load screens (e.g. enter/exit building) and buggy at times.

This title started out very rocky because it's a large multiplayer game a lot of people took advantage of its flaws and made it almost unbearable to play! Now with all the patching actually this is a great game! But maybe a little bit too late since it's an old title now and got a bad rap! I would recommend it

There are things to like and dislike about the game. Like many others have said, It does feel very empty, which coincides with the story the game is trying to tell. The mmo option is there but you don’t necessarily have to partake in the experience which is good and bad. I feel that if they wanted to make a mmo style game they should’ve focused solely on that, likewise if they wanted another fallout experience type of solo player game they should’ve focused on that as well. What we get is a game that sort of lies in between. Decent game but trying to incorporate both genres makes it not good at any single one.

I've never played any fallout games other than this one and I think my lack of expectations made the game a lot better. I ended up getting the PC version on sale as well, so keep in mind that this might be a bit different than that. Yeah, you're gonna need patches, and they're probably gonna come out pretty frequently, and yes, it's a LOT buggy right now, but I wouldn't call it any more unplayable than Skyrim at launch. I personally enjoy the game, but not at a 60 dollar price tag. Fallout veterans beware, people who have played the other Fallout games probably won't appreciate this one as much.
