I bought this game because I never got into the Darkstalkers franchise and I love it so far. I'm a big fan of Capcom and if you pair this game with an arcade stick it's like heaven. There's a lot of options for the screen filters and a huge catalog of titles to go through.
You also get a code for a few games on Capcom arcade 2.

This Collection is great because the games included are great arcade fighting games and some of them are rare games that would probably be too expensive to buy separately. Definitely a must for any fighting game fan.

Good Fun History Lesson

This is a nice little compilation of some lesser known Capcom fighting games from the 90s. The games in this compilation range from the fairly well known, like Darkstalkers, to the obscure, like Cyberbots, to ones like Red Earth that were simply never released outside Japan.
This disc us a nice history lesson. However, it gets dinged a star because the games here are the arcade versions only. There are no frills, no extra modes to unlock, etc. I have a good chunk of these on the old Sega Saturn(!!), and so those version have a lot more on them than the games here. However, the only Saturn versions of these games released in the US were Darkstalkers 2 and Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo. The others, except for Hyper Street Fighter which would not be released until the PS2, and Red Earth/Warzard which was never released in ANY home versions, were Japan-only releases for the Saturn and require the 4MB RAM expansion and a translator card to enable Japanese games to be played on a US system. Also, expect to fork over a good chunk of change for ALL of them, even the US releases. This whole disc goes for less than what ONE of the Saturn releases goes for on the current secondhand market. The less said about the original PSX releases of Darkstalkers 1 and 3, the better.
As such, this is a good history lesson and a solid game collection. All the games have solid precision control, though I would recommend a fight stick controller for all save Puzzle Fighter. It will save your sanity, believe me. They all play smoothly with no load times, and the animation and sound are both smooth.
The same goes for the Switch version, which I also have. Either version is a good use of 40 bucks and will give you hours of solid entertainment.

Glad they finally ported this game. There are no massive changes or compromises only improvements. The odd buggy parts of the game that make it great are still included. A lot of fun!

No battle passes or microtransanctions, just the games. The ports are spot on, and you get to play multiple versions of specific fighting games.

I'm new to fighting games, but I've been having a blast with this collection. Darkstalkers 3 has a lot of crazy characters, and it's been fun figuring out what they can do. Online play feels great thanks to rollback netcode, and the training modes added to each game are very helpful.

Vampire Savior fans(aka Darkstalkers) are going to enjoy this collection. Because of the great quality of the ports for all of the games featured. It lacks a tutorial but most of these games have tons of guides on them except for a few titles:
Red Earth(aka Warzard)
Cyberbots
Super Gem Fighter
As you can tell the big draw is Darkstalkers and Red Earth but the other games in this collection are just as rich. I find this collection and it’s gallery mode to be well done but could have used commentaries or character profiles like the Samurai Shodown Collection.
A flaw is that online has a small pool of players mostly concentrated around Street Fighter 2 and Darkstalkers games. And the lack of ingame tutorials(albeit the games have intuitive controls that are easy to figure out) and beyond arcade mode there is no other way to play in the titles.
If a Survival mode or adaptation of the trials mode could be added to this game, it could greatly help other players that get this collection.

This collection is full of nostalgia and contains many great arcade fighters from the 90s with upgraded accessibility features, such as quick save, easy secret character access, training modes, and a dedicated special button for easy specials and supers with just one directional button. I find this era of fighting games more fun, relaxing, and aesthetically pleasing than modern fighters, and this collection contains some of Capcom's best.

Capcom Fighting Collection contains a fair amount of Capcom's influential fighting games of the 1990's, but it must be noted that several titles in this collection are just variations of Darkstalkers. Still, pretty much every title on here is pure gold (even if some are a bit rough around the edges by today's standards). Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, while not technically a fighting game, is a welcome bonus for fans. This is a great collection when you consider how many options are available for each game, and the sizable art and music galleries are the icing on the cake.

Overall, this is a nice collection of games it has to offer. Games to run on current gen consoles is a nice breath of fresh air that fighting game fans will enjoy. Playing classic titles online is great, training on the side is perfect if you want to perfect yourself in them.
