I am a believer in clean water consumption. I used to work for a company that manufactured bottled water. I dislike the single plastic use, but I am an advocate of the benefits of clean healthy water. Thus me liking this purifying system a lot. I have long wanted to have a purifying system at home, but I was hesitant to call a plumber or someone to have some thing set up under my sink. Instead of driving to the water station to refill our 5 gallon jugs, I actually installed one of these. Guess what, IT TOOK ME 25 MINUTES. Well, okay, I read the instructions and watched a ten mnute youtube video just to be sure because I do not hang out with Mario Bros. Still, 10 minute video +25 minute installation=35 minutes. The fittings were standard. The tubes were push and go. The parts are easy to understand. Now I do not have to regularly go all the way to a water station to fill up our 5 gallon jugs. I have purified water coming from under the sink that I INSTALLED, and the water from the Filtrete tastes just the same if not better. I just saved me bi-weekly trips to the store. Why did I not think of this long ago. Oh, and did I mention that I installed it in minutes?

Got the Filtrete because I own an older house built in the 1950s and steel pipes for water delivery. My refrigerate has an ice maker and I'm always using ice so filtration is a MUST! Up until now, I used the standard screw in filters from the home hardware stores so changing out the filters is a 1 hour ordeal with plenty of towels. With the 3M Filtrete is you're getting the following: Filter Head assembly Filter Tubing Various hardware installation was easy, but for anyone that didn't already have a prior filter system installed you may need to get a T-Fitting or new 2 port valve. The filter head only required 2 screws and used parflex tubing for quick installs. Overall happy since next time I need to replace the filters, only requires 1/4 turn of the filter from the filter head and put on the new one. The ice i'm getting from the ice machine with the filter taste like nothing, which how it should be. No mineral or off putting taste from the old pipes.

Simple solution to a common problem

Over the years we've tried a number of the water filtering products on the market. The add-on to the top of the faucet - cumbersome and just plain ugly. The water pitcher - something else on top of a crowded counter, & need to refill. Installation was simple enough, although my setup was such that I did need a trip to Home Depot for an extra fitting - most won't need that, I just had a bit of an odd connection. I was initially concerned that routing through the filter would reduce the outflow when doing other tasks like rinsing pots & pans, but I couldn't observe any discernible difference in pressure. We'll see how it goes as the filter ages. I would heartily recommend this to anyone looking to improve their water quality, especially if you have a refrigerator without filtered water.

This was a very easy install. You need a wrench, drill, 3/16 bit, #2 Phillips head, pencil and safety glasses, thats it!! The directions are easy to follow and everything hooks right up with ease. I used a PPM meter before the filter (Parts Per Million) total dissolved solids and they were over 200PPM, after the filter they were 22 PPM. Bottled water is usually around 80ppm. If you have a well that tastes like minerals, or high chlorine water, this is a great filter. It also changes with ease. You just screw it off and screw on the fresh one. How long they last would probably depend on how much filtering your water needs. My water if fairly clean by clean water standards, but you can never have enough filtration..The price is fair, install is easy, what are you waiting for?

I was a bit nervous that it might not install as easily as they say but it did. It was easy to install. Mounting the bracket wasn't as complicated as I expected. Instructions are clear. The reminder to be sure and follow instructions especially with the pushing in the blue tubing part for 1st stop. That was so helpful because if you don't, it won't be water tight. Haven't had any leaks. We can notice a good difference in the water when we taste tested it with and without filter. Haven't noticed a difference in the water flow, which is great. I know there was a chance the flow might be slower. I'll have to watch and see if the filter really works well for 5 or 6 months.

The install of this 3M Under Sink water filter took less than 30 minutes. I'm a moderately handy guy, the sort who works on my own car when I have time and I install my own appliances and do my own electrical work. I was still dreading putting this in until I saw how easy the kit was to work with. After the install the water from our faucet tastes better than the water from our fridge's filtered water dispenser. Super happy with the product, and it's a great deal too.

This product was pretty straight forward. I used it for my ice maker. Perfect for when you don’t want the white ice. Clear ice is where it’s at. The taste of the water was improved. I used a TDS meter to see if it took sediment out, there was about a 40-50% improvement of total dissolved solids. For the price, what it does, and ease of use, this is a good buy.

This filtsr system comes with most everything you need to do an installation. But take a look at whatbpipe you have and major sure you have the correct line fittings to make the attachment. The instructions are really laid out well. Plan your installation and give this at least 1.5 hours time. Measure a bunch and dont work with the water on and completely drained. Also ensure you leave enough room to put something under the filter even though ita a 1/4 turn. Water will come out when you remove it.

This was harder to install than the video leads on. It took a trip to the store for a new valve to stop it from leaking. This may have been due to my older plumbing. Once it is in, it is easy to replace the filter. It takes the odd flavors out of the water.

Yeah. No. This Filtrete Quick Change Standard Under Sink Water Filtration System isn’t gonna work for me. That said, for what this is, just a basic water filter, it’s priced fairly decent. But there are several ‘downsides’ that have left a “bitter taste in my mouth” - figuratively speaking. Right off the bat, upon reading over the Use & Care Guide, which also includes the installation instructions, I was immediately turned off from even wanting to use this filter. Plus, the rubber tubing is not that big around, and seemed to smell a bit ‘funny.’ Beyond that, I wasn’t at all confident about how good the water flow would be, or how well the tubing connection would hold up and not leak. Now, the instructions are quite detailed, which is good, even showing drawn diagrams of what to do. However, one of my main issues is that I’m required to drill holes into the ‘wall’ of my cabinet in order to mount the unit underneath my kitchen sink. This I didn’t know ahead of time. (Definitely read over these instructions before you begin.) The installation instructions caution you about avoiding any pipes or electric cords, which is common sense, but that only leaves me one side of the cabinet I am able to mount it on. Being clever and inventive, I did manage to secure the unit and test it out. But I will not be continuing to use this Filtrete Filtration System. Yes, I do notice a slight difference in how the water coming from my kitchen tap tasted, and I’ve no doubt that it does filter out impurities. Though the water flow did prove to be somewhat less than before. Changing out the actual filter, when the time comes, should be a simple procedure. Overall, I wasn’t impressed, and know that there are other options out there which would better suit my needs.

I was under the impression the install process was much simpler. Install requires connecting to side by screws. The water seems fine to drink. Water pressure seems adequate as well. I would like to see an improved presentation of the product before ordering as ultimately I would choose to continue using bottled gallon water.

    Poor install instructions, performance

The installation of this Filtrete is lacking User Acceptance Testing. 1) If you drill a 3/16" pilot hole, the SCREWS DON'T FIT. The hole is as big as the threads, meaning they get *no* grip. And off you go to drill more holes. Additionally, they don't hold in drywall *at all* - the back wall under my sink is drywall and it ripped right out; I had to drill into the side cabinetry instead. 2) If you take the filter off without first shutting off water supply *and draining cold water from faucet* you get baptized. Sprays everywhere. With a new filter, this means that black stuff also sprays everywhere. 3) Says after proper install there will be no gap between filter and mount - no matter how hard I tried I had about a 1/8" gap; and it doesn't leak. 4) Collet release is near impossible without 3 hands and a tool to grip it. I had to use my mouth to pull on the blue tubing while I pushed down on the collet with an adjustable wrench with both hands. As far as performance, we currently use a filter system that provides us with a Total Dissolvable Solids (TDS) meter. This meter reads 000 after going through our current filter system. Hot water out of the faucet - bypasses the Filtrete - reads 31 TDS which is fairly good (some areas of the country see >300). Yet cold water - which goes through the Filtrete now - is still 31. I don't know what this Filtrete is doing, but it's not removing anything from the water. It may be true that this removes chlorine smells/tastes, but it must be doing so by adding other things to the water which gets rid of these; as it's not a net loss of particles.
