    I never had the opportunity to play this game as a kid because I did not own a PS2. But I have always heard good things about it. Now as an adult with a PS4, I figured I would give it a play. The visual display and the sound are definitely refined from the PS2/Xbox/Dreamcast/Gamecube era. And the gameplay is nostalgic and brings back memories of the turn-based FF games we've come to know and love. My roommate who has played the game years ago tells me that this is amazingly remastered and he would definitely play the game again in this HD format.

    There are two pretty serious bugs in the PS4 version right now that affect anyone who bought the game. For me and a lot of other players these are game breaking bugs and makes the game unplayable until they are fixed. I'm putting this review up to let people know about them, and you can decide how important the bugs are to you. Again, these only affect the PS4 version. Once these bugs are fixed I will update my rating to be 5 stars because without these bugs this game is awesome, it has a great battle system, sphere grid leveling system, amazing story, unforgettable characters, so many things to do, 200+ hours. Here's the first major bug: The RNG is broken in the PS4 version of this game. This means that if you die against a boss and have to restart the game the boss will do the same exact attacks for the same damage no matter how many times you die, this makes the fights very predictable and therefore easy since you know what is going to come next guaranteed. This same RNG bug also affects random enemy encounters, for normal enemies if you restart the game you will get the same enemies in the same order, and they will do the same attacks, for the same damage, no matter what. Again this makes them very easy and predictable. The RNG bug reportedly also affects drops, but I didn't play enough to find out. Second major bug: The background music will restart from the beginning of the track after every enemy encounter so you are stuck in a constant loop of the first 10 seconds of the song. Very frustrating for a game with such an amazing soundtrack. Like I said in the beginning, this is an amazing game without the bugs, easily on my top 5 games of all time, I'm positive they will eventually patch the game to fix the bugs, but until then it's unplayable to me and I am leaving this 1 star up to let people know so you don't waste your money. I believe in you Square Enix!

    FFX = Amazing, FFX-2 = Good

    FFX is an amazing RPG. It's got an incredible story and a pretty deep battle and leveling system (if you choose the expert sphere). It is a fairly linear game unlike a lot of the other older Final Fantasy games but it's not constraining at all, and all areas are interesting and can be explored. You can tell the graphics are from an older game yet they've been updated to be fairly good. The voice acting could be better but is by no means bad. FFX-2 is good but not as amazing as FFX. It has a better battle system but the story is lacking, which is what drove FFX. You'll still enjoy this game if you haven't played it before and like RPGs. If you have played it before or if you haven't played it before, I suggest you get FFX/X-2 HD Remaster just for FFX alone. It is an all time classic and a wonderful game that will keep you glued to the screen for many hours and entertain you in all kinds of ways.

    The Final Fantasy X/X-2 collection pairs two of Square's venerable JRPG Final Fantasy games back from the PlayStation 2 era, and repackages them into one experience, with a graphical overhaul and trophies (for those who like collecting them). As for the games themselves, you're mostly buying this series for the first game, though both games take place in the same universe. The second game is a little more lighthearted than the first game, and its story generally doesn't measure up to the original. However, for completionists there's plenty of gameplay for your buck here, as you could log anywhere from 75-100 hours on each game. If you've never experienced a Final Fantasy game and are looking for one that still looks relatively modern, you can't go wrong with this package (though the voice acting is hilariously atrocious). For the roughly $20-30 price tag, it's worth experiencing again (or for the first time).

    this review is based mainly on the HD and new features aspect, not really reviewing the story because it 15 years old so of course it has worse dialog and voice acting than today's standards. All nostalgia for me. FFX HD looks amazing I can see all the details in the statues and buildings in the distance. Things are way more round. Only down side is when the camera gets too close to the characters faces when they are talking it looks a little off. FFX-2 HD looks good too but I honestly can barely tell in this game . I can see finer lines in clothes and it it makes them more 3D. like paine's belt is 3D now and sticking out rather than painted on. New features! FFX : - choice of expert and standard sphere girds - choice of remastered music or original -addive pS4 trophies you want to earn but u realize u have a life and can get them all. FFX-2 : - new dress spheres that the NA version didn't have. The festivalist and psychic -creature creator - battle, lvl, as a fiend. - FFX-2 the last mission mini game at the main menu.

    Great Remaster of a Bad Game

    Let me start off by saying that they did a great job remastering this game. I never played this game back when it originally released on PS2. I only just recently bought the PS3 Remaster and then upgraded to the PS4 version, since it's the best version available. I'm not a person that is bent on graphics. I can appreciate any era of video game graphics. This remaster looks fantastic compared to the PS2 version. Onto the most important things, the gameplay, voice acting, systems, story, remaster quality and combat. Voice Acting: I find it to be mostly horrible, except for a few characters. Mainly, I can't stand Tidus one bit. Some characters sound fine, but most are just plain bad. 4/10 Gameplay: Some like it, some hate it. I'm somewhere in between. The animations are good, but it's just not very fun for me. It doesn't have that magic that makes it great and I don't like that my summons have to be controlled and they can die in battle. The game is also very linear and after playing FFVII and FFIX, I just didn't think Final Fantasy should be a linear game with so little freedom. 5/10 Systems: I despise the sphere grid. Give me points and let me build my character in the direction that I want to build them in. Don't force me to take certain paths to and then make me use points to backtrack to get to another skill that I want. It's called a skill tree, or simply learning skills via other methods during gameplay. Sphere Grid is LAME and takes the fun out of building a character. 4/10 Story: I couldn't make myself finish the game, but the story was mostly enjoyable from what I did play. 7/10 Remaster Quality: As I've said, the remaster quality is excellent, top notch, best of the best. For that, 10/10 I would recommend it simply because it's a very popular game and the majority of final fantasy fans like it.

    Better than PS2, and better than PS3

    Final Fantasy X and its sequel are great games that have aged well. They play just as good as they did when they first came out, and maybe even better due to the more stable frame-rate. When the remaster was first brought to PS3, it included updated textures and remodeled characters, as well as a new soundtrack. When it was later remade further for PS4, the textures and character models were given additional work, and both the new and original soundtrack from the PS2 release were included on disc (the PS3 version only had the new, rearranged soundtrack). Of course, it's not all roses. Some NCPs can look a little strange, not being as high-quality as the main characters, but other than a few odd instances here and there the game looks great. Also, the cutscenes and voice overs are starting to show their age, but mostly they hold up well. If you're wondering about which version to buy, this is the one to get. It takes the already amazing PS3 version and makes it even better. There is also a Vita version, which I would only recommend if you wanted to play on the go. Make no mistake, it's better than the original PS2 releases, but not as good as the PS3/4 versions. If you're interested in trying Final Fantasy for the first time (or looking to replay old favorites) this is a good place to start.

    It has been since the days of the PS2 that these games have seen the light of day, and what better way than to play them again, touched up on PS4. I am not really bothered by all of these HD collections if they are done right, and they are reasonably priced. This collection includes both Final Fantasy X and X2, and is my definition of done right. While they are not completely redone, they do warrant a purchase because they are such great games. Just have fun playing these games, because it is Final Fantasy after all, the best two FF games on PS2 remade for PS4.

    Any Final Fantasy fan that has not played this game is missing out on such a great game. The story follows 2 different plots, which both inter-relate with each other and tie together towards the 2nd game's conclusion. Most people nowadays seem to dislike the main character, but during the days of the original classic the MC was adored and cosplayed by many. This is a turn-based RPG, and if that's not to your liking then this game might not be for you. Aside from that though, there's a few mini-games and other features that makes the world inside of Final Fantasy X diverse and unique.

    FFX is a total classic. It has in my opinion the best turn-based battle system of any RPG. It's fast and seamless. The remaster makes a great looking game look even better. Square has even patched the minor glitches the cropped up with the release of the PS4 version.

    There was a time when the Final Fantasy franchise carried some major weight. Nowadays, not so much. This is probably the last "great" traditional Final Fantasy game (referring to FF10) but now with overhauled graphics. Combined with a low price it can't be beat for some old, ahem, oldish RPG goodness. And if you haven't played them, check out even earlier releases in the franchise, especially FFIII (US)!

    FFX is a classic. One of the best in the Final Fantasy Series, though 9 is still my favorite. The main story can be played through fairly quickly, but it will take you many hours to complete all of the side quests/objectives this game has to offer! The Sphere Grid is a nice change of pace from how most RPGs progress their characters - it means that no characters are pigeonholed into one specific role. You want your main character to be the healer? Work his Sphere Grid over to those abilities. The optional bosses are pretty challenging too. I have defeated 3 of the Dark Aeons so far. I am currently working in the Monster Arena to level up my stats to be able to handle some of the more powerful bosses. One thing I do not like about this game is the mini-games required to upgrade a Celestial Weapon. I still have to dodge 200 lightning bolts for Lulu's, and I have not even played Blitzball at all yet for Wakka's (let alone his overdrives.)

    A Blast from the Past

    Final Fantasy X was the first FF game for the PS2, and was a gorgeous game in its day (and holds up well in this remastered version). The plot is absolutely ridiculous, but if you love old-school RPG's with long, unskippable cut-scenes, then give this a shot. If you remember the game foundly (and it's sequel, also included), then it's worth picking up. If you like 40 plus hour-long RPG's, then pick it up. If you like your RPG's to make sense, look elsewhere (basically, a big ball of SIN is coming to destroy the world, and you have to figure out what it is and how to stop it). Still, it can be a fun experience and a nice throughback to RPG's gone-by.

    Great game so far. Great story, never played this one before so had to when came out for ps4. Graphics looks great though some parts could've been upped. Sounds are great but noticed some ambient sounds where off when characters are talking. But great as originally was built on and older play station platform. Would recommend if u haven't played the game before and want to try it out.

    I played this game on my playstation 2 when I was in high school and I loved it. When I got my boyfriend the PS4 for christmas I wanted to have a game that I could play on it. I instantly thought of this game but couldn't find it anywhere. When I walked in the store and saw it I was so excited. The quality is amazing and the game is still just as fun as it was 7 or 8 years ago.

    If you played the original games, this is just a remake that looks and sounds much better. I bought since I haven't played them since the original was released. They did a great job at updating it so it's definitely not just a quick up-res. It's doesn't really add much except for the audio dramas, but that's ok. It was a solid game before so it's nice to see it again. They said if it does well, then they will remake more. FInal Fantasy 12 may already be in the works, and that game pushed the PS2 too far so it really needs the same treatment.
