Just started the game and only played a few missions, but it reminds me of Final Fantasy games of the past. Great combat system and beautiful storyline and graphics.

I am a long time fan of the FF series, and was not disappointed with this entry. Although long awaited, the finished product demonstrates it was well worth the wait.

This was my first Final Fantasy game since Final Fantasy 8. I sort of grew out of love with JRPGs due to overly complex plots and too over the top characters. Well, this game has both of those, but I'll start with the pros first. This game is gorgeous. The world is vibrant and alive. Also the battle mechanics are great. Battle is like a tactical brawler. Its fast paced, but slows down at the right points (e.g. when you're trying to select a special skill or item). Squad teamwork abilities are really well implemented too. It feels like a natural evolution of the old style Final Fantasy fights. Now for the cons. As I mentioned the story is very hard to follow. You have to have watched all the animated shorts on youtube and the Kingsglaive movie to understand what's going on at all. I did watch that material (not that great), and some of the story points still don't make sense. The story brings in characters and plot points that come out of left field and are never really explained (maybe in the DLC?). There are some really great broad concepts in the plot, and its a shame that they weren't executed better. The camaraderie between the different characters is, however, well done. Some game play mechanics are also frustrating. I wish the fast travel system was better. I understand that the game wants you to see the open world, but I spent a lot of time having to travel to and from my car to get to the fast travel menu, then travel again. It would have been nice if I could have avoided that one step. The travel system also makes the side quests frustrating. The side quests were not well done. Most do not have any story, and are simply fetch style quests. This may be OK if travel was quick and easy, but it isn't. I ended up skipping most of the sidequests, except for the few "important" (in terms of rewards) ones that folks have listed online. The music was good, though I still miss the Nobuo Uematsu scores from the old Final Fantasy games. The voice acting was fine (I played with the English voices), but they are done in that anime over the top dubbed voice style which I don't care too much for. Other reviewers have also criticized that the open world closes about 2/3 of the way through the game. This didn't bother me too much. All in all 3/5 stars. Beautiful world, fun battle mechanics, but story is confusing, side quests are boring, and some general game mechanics, such as fast travel, are frustrating. Despite all the flaws, I still ended up playing through the whole game and in general, enjoyed the experience. I don't think its for everyone though, and would not recommend to a general gamer unless they did their research first.

I've been a long-time fan of Final Fantasy and I have to say, it's been a rough few years. MMO's aside, the last Final Fantasy game I've enjoyed was 2001's Final Fantasy X on PS2. Final Fantasy XV brings back the thing the series has been missing for so long: fun. It's just a fun game to play, with its engaging characters, massive open world, and all-new battle system - which is a great fusion of the old sensibilities of turn-based battles, and updates it with a great real-time system. If you're a fan of the series, make sure you get it. Final Fantasy XV is well worth it.

As a longtime Final Fantasy player I went into FFXV with an unsure mind. The more action oriented gameplay I saw in advance I was unsure about compared to the games I grew up with. The demo didn't do much for me, but playing this game has made me love how this gameplay is. It's new and for newcomers to the series it will be much easier to get accustomed to than the turned based games I grew up on. World is fantastic, vibrant, and filled with things to do. The characters are all personable and leave a lasting impression unlike FFXIII. Great game, be sure to pick it up.

FFXV is a great game. A great story, beautiful environments, music, etc. And really fun gameplay. My game of the year for 2016 (and I played A LOT of games).

You don't need to be a seasoned FF player to enjoy playing this one! Awesome graphics...game play is smooth. It's also an Open World which is not typical of the FF series. Highly recommended!

I am in chapter 12 of 15 of the main story and so far it's pretty good. I spent most of my time playing so far, doing random side quests and hunts. If you only do the story missions, this is an extremely short game. If you don't like slower paced games, you will not like this game. You spend a lot of time driving around in the car, and the loading times really stink compared to how fast games load nowadays. The combat is where the game really shines. It's fast-paced and engaging. It's a lot of fun to warp around the field slaying enemies. All in all minus 1 star for an okay story and very bad load times, plus 4 stars for a fun battle system, great graphics, and plenty to do in the final fantasy's world.

Who would have thought that these two games would come out in our lifetimes but they're here. FFXV can be clunky at times and doesn't have the clearest story (even with watching the Brotherhood show and Kingsglaive movie) but it is fun and exciting and geniunely creative. For one, the four members of the boy band have a relationship that really come to life. The open world portions make this feel like such a realized world. I hope the patches and DLC planned for Noctic' journey fix some of the odd gameplay and story choices and make this a real masterpiece.

FF XV combines the best elements of Final Fantasy storytelling with Kingdom Hearts inspired combat. The game has a ton of content, especially when you add the fun multiplayer Comrades expansion. Best Final Fantasy in a long time.

Final Fantasy XV takes a step away from the traditional turn based combat and gives players a new action based combat system where you must act quickly to changing conditions and can actively attack and block. The controls take a bit to get used to but perform well. The story is slow to develop, but interesting. Im not a fan of the more modern setting offered with modern phones and cars instead of more traditional fantasy setting. The open world is huge, which can make some quests time consuming as you must travel long distances to find objectives. Overall a good game that could have been great with a faster developing story and faster way to travel.

It has been a long time since a final fantasy game has come along and got me hooked to a point were I have to set a timer to let me know when to break. I started losing interest around the time when the 12th installment came around. Then when I realized the approach they were going to take with the different battle system I almost didn't even want to give it the time of day. This had to be quite the surprise Christmas gift once I popped it in the system and had at it. Beautiful graphics great game play and wonderful cinematic.

I can't believe this game has finally released, I've been waiting for 10 years to be able to play this game. Sad to see the many changes its gone through and it's led to a not bad but different experience than anticipated. The combat is fast and fun, love being able to create different types of spells and unlocking new abilities. The story has been engaging so far. I love getting lost for hours doing side quests, hunts, and fishing. This game also makes me excited as a preview of the combat expected for kingdom Hearts 3.

This game was incredible and occupied over 100 hours of my time. I always thought things like fishing and cooking in games were silly and took away from the story immersion and combat, but I ended up spending hours catching fish, cooking meals for the party, and exploring just to take pictures of the incredibly environment. The game is now even more enhanced by modern consoles and HD textures. Being able to choose how the combat flows is great. I really cannot recommend this game enough!

I purchased this for Christmas for my 18 yr old grandson so I have not seen him play it yet. But he has been asking for this game so I know he will love it. Best Buy has fair prices for PS4 games and I like that they have price match if I do find a game for a lower price.

A GREAT addition to the Final Fantasy series! My favorite was Final Fantasy 9 but this has got it beat in my eyes. Though the story is short, it is amazing!! And there's so much to do outside of the story! Lots of side quests, hunts, new game plus, etc....just so much fun to be had! The characters are really cool especially the buddies you travel with. It really feels like your friends are actually there with you! Just absolutely phenomenal! A definite must have for hardcore fans and new fans to the series!

So far the game has been playing well. Good Story, Battle system is polished, and the new open world concept works. I think the most important thing to point out is the new mechanics of the battle system. FF is known for it's older turn based style, but now SE has evolved that system. This is the best version of that compared to FF12-FF13. It plays more smooth and gives you better control of your own character. ALSO, as far as the story goes, if you feel you want a little more detail in it- They want you to watch the FF Kingsglaive movie before you play. This will fill in what happened to events leading into the game.
