Customers are saying

Customers admire Final Fantasy XVI's impressive gameplay, captivating story reminiscent of Game of Thrones, and amazing music. The steelbook is also a highlight for many collectors. While some found the side quests and open world aspects less engaging, and noted some performance issues, the overall reception is overwhelmingly positive.

The game is great from the demo i played buy it somewhere else. My issue is i pre-ordered and didn't get the steelbook yet there are stores other than mine that have in stock? Got the run around when i called and through chat. This was obviously fumbled by best buy but they wont help anyone. Plan on returning it on my days off. Also canceling my remaining preorders to save the headaches.

A New Direction For A New Generation

Final Fantasy XVl is unlike any of its predecessors. With a more edgy dialogue throughout the main story you'll soon notice that this is a more mature entry into the Final Fantasy series. Not only that, but the gameplay has been made along the lines of some of the most well-known action games. Although, do not let that deter you if you were a fan of the classic turn-base system. Combat is easy to learn and pick up. The story is definitely fulfilling throughout the entire length of the main game. Throughout all the twists and turns the game story will bring, you will find yourself with a sense of fulfillment multiple times before you reach the end. Pros: -Fast, Exciting, Gameplay -Intriguing story -Plenty of hour of entertainment -Lots of options to customize combat. -Accessibility Cons: -Some parts of side quests can drag and feel redundant at times.

This is not a traditional Final Fantasy. If you want to see your stat numbers grow and have more meaning, this is not that game. Same goes for gear. The game's gear and story are linear, and you will go corridor crawling. Though the story is linear, you can deviate from your path in large, explorable areas and take on side quests and tackle challenging hunt targets. For me, the game loses a star because it lacks meaningful gear progression and side quests don't offer much world building until later in the game. Additionally, you lose out on some important lore bits if you don't do the late game side quests. That said, I enjoyed the game very much. The story was compelling and pretty to look at. Combat was enjoyable and the hunt targets were fun to track down and battle. The music is one the best parts of this game. If you're familiar with FFXIV and Masayoshi Soken, you that you're in for an epic soundtrack. I clocked in about 50 hours on the main story, all side quests, and hunts, and plan to play through "Final Fantasy Mode."

Stunning masterpiece! This gane was qorth the wait! From the the epic Eikon battles to the fast paced action style combat, everything about this game is amazing. Only drawback is the performance mode needs some optimization. The steelbook case and cloth map that come with this edition are great. The steelbook is a work of art.

Final Fantasy 16 is an absolute triumph that not only lives up to its iconic predecessors but elevates the series to new heights. As a lifelong fan of the franchise, I can confidently say that this game is a true masterpiece of fantasy gaming. From the captivating story to the breathtaking visuals and engaging gameplay, Final Fantasy 16 is a journey that will stay with me forever. The narrative of Final Fantasy 16 is an emotional rollercoaster that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The intricate plot weaves together a rich tapestry of political intrigue, personal struggles, and epic battles. The characters are brilliantly developed, each with their own unique arcs and motivations, making them relatable and endearing. The writing is top-notch, and the voice acting is simply outstanding, immersing players even further into the game's world. Visually, Final Fantasy 16 is a stunning masterpiece. The attention to detail in every environment, character design, and spell effects is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the development team. From the bustling cities to the sprawling landscapes, the game is a feast for the eyes, and I found myself frequently pausing just to take in the beauty of it all. The gameplay is where Final Fantasy 16 truly shines. The combat system is a perfect blend of classic Final Fantasy elements and innovative mechanics. It strikes a balance between accessibility for newcomers and depth for seasoned players. The ability to switch between party members and employ various strategies adds a layer of tactical depth that keeps the battles fresh and exciting throughout the entire adventure. Another aspect that deserves praise is the soundtrack. The music in Final Fantasy 16 is nothing short of extraordinary. From epic orchestral pieces during climactic moments to hauntingly beautiful melodies during emotional scenes, the score complements the game's atmosphere perfectly, tugging at your heartstrings and enhancing the overall experience. The world-building in Final Fantasy 16 is nothing short of phenomenal. Each region feels alive, with its own culture, history, and challenges. Exploring the vast and diverse landscapes was a joy, and the side quests and hidden secrets added an extra layer of enjoyment to the already content-rich game. In conclusion, Final Fantasy 16 is a must-play for any fan of the RPG genre or the Final Fantasy series. With its gripping narrative, stunning visuals, engaging gameplay, and remarkable soundtrack, it stands as a testament to the power of video games as a storytelling medium. This game is a true gem that deserves all five stars and will undoubtedly go down as one of the best entries in the beloved Final Fantasy franchise.

Final Fantasy XVI: A Triumph with Tarnished Edges

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Final Fantasy XVI is a masterpiece in the making, boasting world-class gameplay, awe-inspiring graphics, and an impeccable presentation. Its immersive world and captivating story will leave you spellbound. However, there's one crucial factor that can make or break your experience: your connection with the main character. The gameplay mechanics are solid, but the absence of traditional party members may leave fans yearning for more. While Clive and his loyal dog Torgal make for a compelling duo, the inability to select and command other party members, a staple of previous Final Fantasy titles, is a missed opportunity. This limitation hampers the sense of strategic depth and variety that fans have come to cherish. Moreover, the side quests, while not without their shining moments, often lean towards the mundane and lackluster. They fall into the realm of MMO-style quests, which can feel repetitive and unremarkable. It's unfortunate that these quests don't consistently match the brilliance found in the game's overall design. Despite these flaws, Final Fantasy XVI boldly explores new directions and showcases a refreshing artistic style. It's a testament to the franchise's evolution and willingness to take risks. With some tweaks and improvements, addressing the party system and injecting more life into side quests, this game has the potential to become an undeniable masterpiece. In conclusion, Final Fantasy XVI shines with its exceptional gameplay, stunning visuals, and captivating presentation. However, its success ultimately hinges on your connection with the main character. The game's drawbacks lie in the limited party system and the hit-or-miss nature of side quests. With an 8/10 rating, Final Fantasy XVI's brilliance is undeniable, but there's room for refinement to truly achieve perfection.

I'm not the biggest final fantasy fan, but this game is one of the best I've ever played. The switch to pure action combat is an amazing move and leads to some of most jaw dropping sequences in gaming. The story makes you feel every emotion a story can and features some great characters. Despite some performance issues and some mediocre side quests, this game is a complete package that doesn't disappoint.

Reviews are on point. I recently finished, completing all side quests and hunts. Incredible story, awesome characters and development(especially Clive), a stellar soundtrack and the combat and customizatiin are stellar! Just wish the side quests were better in the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the game, and some characters got their models updated graphically better. All in all incredible!

As a fan of Final Fantasy XIII and XV I had no doubts that I would love this game. It is true that the modern Final Fantasy games have changed genres a lot to appeal to modern gamers and that has turned a lot of people off. But some forget that the series has done this kind of thing before and each entry is its own seperate experience, excluding X-2, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns of course. The one flaw the game has is it’s too easy once you get a hang of the combat flow in random skirmishes. I found most of the boss encounters however to be challenging and very rewarding to conquer. The story is wonderfully crafted and generally well-paced. The ending surprised me in a good way. The music is undoubtedly some of the best in the series and among the greatest in this current console generation. Overall much better than I expected and not deserving of the hefty criticism it has been getting from longtime fans, who are understandably miffed at the lack of traditional JRPG bits to sink their teeth into. But for fans of character action games, a genre that has been flirting with Final Fantasy for some time now, this game is a real treat and a must-play. Mark my words, this game will be a cult classic.

I really don’t understand all the hate for this game. As a lifelong Final Fantasy fan, this is now one of my favorites in the series! Turn based FF has been long gone, there should be no surprise there about the combat system, which I personally am enjoying a lot. You can get really creative with abilities/combos that makes for a very satisfying experience. The characters are relatable and lovable, the story is written extremely well, with deep knowledge into the world and lore of FF16. The Eikon battles and soundtrack are epic! Visually gorgeous and stunning. I have not come to a part where it feels dull or boring. This game just keeps reeling me in wanting more. Complaints about the side quests are a bit silly in my opinion too. They are of course optional but some provide background, and a more human aspect to the game. While others provide QoL items. This is an overall very enjoyable game to me, and I encourage others to try it out for themselves!

Took a risk with preordering from BB...I am glad I was not burned. The game, while it does have some minor graphics issues, has been nothing short of fantastic. It is action focused and they really nailed the combat. It is fast, fluid, and engaging. It does feel too easy at times on standard, but otherwise, the need to over-level is gone. Side quests, while short, do have some meaningful impacts on the story and provide more depth for some of the NPC cast. While the story has some cliche points, it works well and creates more depth to the world. Do not go in thinking this is your old-school FF. Play the Demo first to make sure you like the systems. 9.5/10 Story 10/10 Gameplay 8/10 Visuals (can be a bit blurry in performance mode) 7/10 Deluxe Edition Value - up to you if it is worth 30 bucks for a cloth map and additional Steelbook

This is the best overall Final Fantasy title in recent years. If you are a fan of action RPGs , along the vein of Platinum Games then you will love this game. It has a gripping story, full of intrigue, with characters who have their own motives, both on a grand political scale and deeply emotional ones as well. The protagonist is well written, and how he interacts with the the vast world serves as the crux of the game. If you are a fan of long term storytelling combined with a fluid, and fun combat system then you may enjoy this game. The music, graphics, and presentation are also top notch. The voice acting is perfectly cast, and draws you into the story. So if you’re looking for a rpg to invest many hours into, Final Fantasy 16 is well worth the time.

I'm not a fan of Medieval Era games or movies, but I was captivated by the story after finishing the demo. The demo covers the first 2-3 hours of the game and is worth trying out if you're unsure about purchasing the full game. The game has a nice blend of gameplay and cinematic cutscenes. Some people don't like this, but I personally think it's nice that story games can feel like movies too. The story is amazing. Sidequests provide information that supports the main story, and without knowing it, the main story can feel slightly hollow. They're also rewarding, and completing them will be worth it in the end! Graphics/music/combat: 10/10 It's a shame that not many people can experience this game due to its temporary exclusivity.

Let's start off with the only negative experience so far, the performance. Playing in "FPS mode" hasn't been that smooth, the game looks too blurry when moving the camera around (likely due to upscaling + motion blur) and the FPS drop quite a bit in the open world, this makes me wish the game was available on PC and I will certainly buy it again when it is. (Oled 4k 120) UPDATE - the devs listened to feedback and added a motion blur settings (and new controller layouts) I can confirm that lowering motion blur to 2 or less massively improves the experience. As for EVERYTHING ELSE, the game is almost perfect!!! Gameplay: The combat feels incredibly smooth, so many different abilities and combos to try which allow for different styles of gameplay. From more passive, ranged, defensive and aggressive. The game starts slow but as you get more Eikons, you unlock many more abilities. Mixing magic with eikonic abilities, doing some air combat and rushing towards enemies feels great! Story (no spoilers): It's an incredible adventure and the experiences will make you feel very attached to the characters. The world and lore are great to explore, you will visit so many different areas. It will be quite the rollercoaster of emotions. There are a lot of friendly features to remind you during cutscenes about the lore of the topics discussed or even the characters, you hold the touchpad and it will show you different cards about everything to keep you always informed especially if you are somewhat forgetful. Some side quests are little more tedious but most of them tell you a story about characters you meet through the main quest and they do a lot of world building so I highly recommend doing them all. Some of them can even be very emotional. Music, graphics and art style: This game has some of the most epic battles I have seen. Fighting Eikons feels like you are truly doing something incredible, like fighting a god. The combination of what you are doing, cinematics, music and sound effects make for some truly epic moments and gives you quite the adrenaline rush. The music is beautiful and emotional and helps you get more immersed. Graphically, the game is beautiful, especially in areas with a lot of vegetation. And as for the effects, I know some may not like them as much but I love the many effects on each encounter - although they can sometimes be a little distracting. I love how they incorporated the PS5 controller vibration feature into transmitting the feeling of what's occurring in game. I only bought a PS5 for this so it was my first time experiencing it but I must say it was truly worth every penny only for this game alone. This game is a MUST for every true Final Fantasy fan. Truly a masterpiece. I know some are disappointed with the lack of features such as gear, managing your party and crafting like old FF games; however, don't let that discourage you, while they are certainly nice features to have, the game feels amazing and complete as it is currently. Honestly Hugh departure from Jrpg but this is definitely the best action game in years by far. Something to note especially for recent games, this game does not feel buggy at all! Currently on second play through.

Don't believe the hate this game gets! I was skeptical about the combat at first but it is fun throughout the length of the game. More importantly the story, characters, and music are fantastic. These are the true elements of a Final Fantasy game. Everything about this game feels polished and original. Calling the story a Game of Thrones copy, like many reviews have, simply shows the reviewer didn't understand the story of either. If you're a Final Fantasy fan, a fan of dark fantasy, an action game fan, or simply a video game fan you should play this game.

Final Fantasy 16 on the PlayStation 5! Never would have thought 16 would happen in 1992 playing the FF release on the Nintendo. The graphics look great on the PS5. I played it for a fair amount of time and I personally like the graphics, the speed, the soundtrack, the characters, the story. There will always be people saying something isn’t this or that but this game is good. If you like FF then buy it. If you have never played a FF game you might as well start right here.
