Customers are saying

Customers admire Final Fantasy XVI's impressive gameplay, captivating story reminiscent of Game of Thrones, and amazing music. The steelbook is also a highlight for many collectors. While some found the side quests and open world aspects less engaging, and noted some performance issues, the overall reception is overwhelmingly positive.

The game is great. Fun action and great visuals/story. The added metal case and cloth map are nice. Nothing too great.

Game and Whole Package Worth the $$

The game is fantastic, as the rest of the web will tell you, much less RPG than the franchise has been previously, but the story and gameplay is tight. The PACKAGE that is this deluxe edition, is absolutely gorgeous, with the satin and glossy sections of the art being a nice touch reminiscent of some other limited editions I've seen. The pack-in map and steelbook are quality whether you're in it for the collecting value or love of the game itself. Worth the money.

The Deluxe Edition has some great items for FF fans. Enjoy the steelbook, DLC item and packaging. Overall, having a great time with the game. Thanks to the help of the Kingdom Hearts team and DMC producer, gameplay and action feel great and rewarding the more you progress. It may not be for every Final Fantasy fan, but it is definitely enjoyable to jump into. Really enjoy the score, and find the story to be just as good

Love everything about this game. The story, the music score, the visuals, and the gameplay are all top-notch. Yeah it’s a more action-focused Final Fantasy, but it lends itself well to the story beats and overall Final Fantasy themes and iconography. Give it a chance and you’ll have one of the best gaming experiences of the year. For the deluxe edition, I really dig the quality of the map that’s included with the steel book.

Combat feels a lot different than most other FF games I've played but is still very fun and satifying. Significant boss fights have some of the most intense over the top visuals I've ever experience in a game.

I've been a final fantasy fan for a very long time now. While turn based is my bread and butter, this game has not disappointed. I was a bit unsure before diving in but I was hooked almost right away. It may not be up your alley, however it is a solid title and it's clear a lot of love and hard work was poured into making it.

Excellent story, beautiful graphics, gorgeous score, fun gameplay and an array of compelling characters. The only downsides to the game for me personally are firstly, while the zones are fairly large there's nothing really in them to explore or discover. Sure you can find the odd one off chest, but its more like to hold 12gil or basic crafting (which you hardly ever use) materials than an actually useful weapon/gear piece. I think the game could've used some discoverable "ruins" or "dungeons" you could crawl through to breakup some of the more sidequest heavy story beats and not just rely on the Hunts to get a bit of harder fighting/action in. And secondly, the RPG elements felt sorely lacking and underwhelming to the point of near nonexistence. It didn't feel RPGy at all. Which is a shame because it feels like they could've really done some cool things with it. Some might say the sidequests are also lacking and a downside, but I think they are actually refreshing. The majority of them are centered on either one or a combination of world, character or relationship building and a majority of them are called back to and built upon as the story progresses. The sidequests are very much story focused and very, very rarely action/fighting focused. No go to X location to kill Y for super rare drop for NPC that has no relevance to anything else in the story. So while I can see while people that just want "Action! Action! Action!", might not like them, I appreciate them for what they are and were trying to do, even if some miss the mark and drag out a bit towards endgame. The strongest point of the game is definitely the characters and the relationship they have with each other. They're extremely well written and fleshed out, especially among main cast and relevant NPCs which seem like actual individuals within the world and not just there for the sake of being there. Which does actually bring me to my third and final downside ironically enough. The game does such a good job with world building and making the world seem "alive" with the quests, whether main or side, but the stock NPCs kind of ruin all that hard work. They literally have one line they will repeat ad nauseam every single time you go by them. Every. Single. Time. Please Square, at least give them 3-4 lines to cycle through. This one line will change to reflect world changes as the main story progresses, but still it's forever one line.

this game surprised me. The story is strong and is more mature than expected and the combat system is good enough to make it fun without getting boring. It also looks so good, you can see the difference of a current gen committed game unlike others being held back by ps4 porting. The deluxe version is pretty much a steelbook and a stronger starting sword if you care about those things.

This is an amazing and great game. Hours and hours of fun with a compelling story. Square Enix really brought the franchise back with this one. In particular I appreciate that they are finally getting into the accessibility realm with the extra Rings of Accessibility which help with various combat actions. This is unbelievably helpful for people with disabilities who still want to play the game. No one should be locked out of playing a game or enjoying the story because a game was designed without them in mind.

While it’s not turn-based, I think this is (other than maybe XIV) is the best Final Fantasy experience in years. The only environments, plot, story, music, characters and dialog speak to a design team that had a clear vision for what they wanted to create. It’s basically turning a corner from the Kitase/Nomura era and that’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned.

This is one of the best Final Fantasy games I have ever played. The story is great the gameplay is awesome and the voice actors really nailed it. I usually find myself preferring turn based rpgs, but I found myself really enjoying this one. This on my opinion is probably one of the best games of the year. Don’t miss out on this, you’ll regret it.

I've played Final Fantasy games since the first one on the NES when i was nine years old. I LOVED this game! It stands toe to toe with the best in the series. I preordered the Deluxe Edition as soon as it was announced. I picked it up in store on release day with zero issues. Very quick and easy experience and an even more amazing game!

This game was an absolute masterpiece! The story, pacing, setting and visuals are all perfectly balanced to create what felt like a 3 season binge of a great series. The mechanics are simple and satisfying, while never feeling tedious or boring. I highly recommend that any fan of fantasy settings purchase and play this game!

Amazing game, combat is downright awesome and great to play. Story is straightforward but still really good. Characters are highlights and boss battles are crazy good feeling like a movie with giving you lots of control. Amazing worldbuilding and art direction, really good direction and Final Fantasy should keep going this direction.

Been playing Final Fantasy since FFIX and love this one, FFXVI is a big change in that its an action rpg more like Devil May Cry then other FF games, but I found the gameplay to be very fun. Story is great, there is some fps drops when your in a big area with lots of npcs but from what I could tell its 60 fps when in combat.

This was one of the better Final Fantasy entries in some time. The story was more entertaining and the characters were generally fun. The giant boss fights were a blast.
