I definitely prefer Fire Emblem Three Houses a bit more but Fire Emblem Engage is still a really fun game!

Fun classic Fire Emblem gameplay, with really solid maps. Really generic story, and some balance issues hold it back a bit though. Still a great pick-up for sRPG fans.

A highly polished and fun return to the Fire Emblem series. Story can be a bit lackluster at times, but the combat system of Engage more than makes up for it.

This is all I have been playing since it released. I love the gameplay and all the past heroes of Fire Emblem.

My son says that Fire Emblem Engage is very fun to play.

The gameplay is about the same as Three Houses, but the battles are actually a challenge this time around, and there are some QOL changes that just make the battles run much better. The hub world is an awesome return to classic FE styles, and the homebase you canoptionally return to is great. A nice departure from the oversized school in Three houses. That's where my compliments end. Getting rid of 2d portraits and replacing them with low quality 3d models was a huge mistake. The voice acting is just plain terrible, and most of the characters are even more plain than those seen in Three Houses (which were already pretty bad). Every cutscene has some awful anime trope that makes it impossible to take the characters or story seriously, and the plot is just about the same. It was always really interesting when Fire Emblem games took war seriously instead of just having war be an excuse for a magical and generically evil hooded guy show up. It seems that the devs had decided to cast their old fanbase aside and cater to the crowd of people who don't actually care about quality or characters, and only care anime. At the very least, this game isn't trying to be Persona. It's worth getting if you're itching for some FE gameplay, but if you need the story and characters to carry the game, this isn't the one for you. Just replay an older game.

Fire Emblem Engage goes back to the series' roots with its story meant for its series anniversary. Sadly the classic story of Fire Emblem is pretty weak lol. That said the combat is very fun I would go as far as to say it is one of the harder fire emblem games especially when you fight against the extra enemies. For the combat alone I would say this is a much have if it were to go on sale.

Classic Fire Emblem combat and style! However, it is a different type of game then Three Houses, so be aware if that is what you are looking for!
