After 10 year I needed to replace my Nest Protect Smoke Alarms with a newer version from First Alert. It was quite easy. Like the look and ability to work in conjunction with the google home app. The only downside is that the new alarm does not have the nightlight feature that was in the Nest Protect!

Easy to install & the app seems fine. But I'm pretty salty about this being the official replacement for the Nest smoke / CO2 alarm, yet the motion activated pathway light function has been taken away. Because of this, I'm not sure I will use this for all 7 of my alarms.. But I 100% would have if it had the same light function as the Nest.

Nice that it is compatible with existing nest smoke detectors. Like the interconnected aspect. Didnt realize hoe many features nest originally had i.e. night light, interconnected without red wire. These dont check every box, but most.

It is a great replacement for a regular smoke detector, easy to setup and works with Google smart home devices.

I really did appreciate the motion sensor aspects from the old nest protect unlike some others have mentioned. Also wasn't thrilled that it is 7 year life span versus 10 years like the Nest protect. Haven't seen the sensitivity as others have mentioned yet and hoping it doesn't pop up.

East to replace the Nest Detector with this model. Only issue is that it tends to drop off my WIFI from time to time, and it’s near the access point. Other than that, seems to work great.

Yes it's not nest, and yes it doesn't have a night light. That being said, easy set up. Aside from having to download the First App, it was the exact steps as having to install a new smoke detector. And less work than replacing with a different model.

We wanted a Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector that was compatible with our Google Nest devices. The First Alert device was quickly delivered by Best Buy and was easy to install

I hate giving negative reviews but I just want to let people know not to order this. I bought ours in Oct of 2025 since our nest expired and is no longer available. Last week on Wednesday the thing showed smoke detected I was at work and so was my husband. I sent my neighbor to check and there was no smoke, it went off again. I rushed home to find no smoke, I eventfully figured out it was the one in our loft. Took that down and removed the battery, it couldn’t be silenced or anything. My poor dogs were in agony. We left the living room one in since the ceilings are substantially higher. Last night at 3am that unit had a false alarm. We have to grab ladder to take it down and remove the battery because it wouldn’t go off or be silenced. This product is awful and should be removed since there are others stating the same issue.

I bought this to replace a Nest Protect that expired. All the features — Lower price — Easy setup

[Employee of bestbuy] Apparently when my house was built, the wiring for the smoke detector was placed in the hallway next to the bathroom. Nearly every time somebody goes in there to take a shower the steam from the bathroom sets off the smoke detector. I wish that I had a way to move the wiring without having to hire an electrician! They really need to set an option in the app to turn down the sensitivity.

Very easy to install as a replacement for Nest Protect

So far so good, we did get a false positive early on but it has been good so far. The false positive is why I am giving it only 4 stars as I had to drive 80 miles back to the house.

Nest never gave false alarms. Nest has pathway light. First Alert gave false alarms on the 4th of of July during the day and then again in the middle of the night and would not let us silence them. No way to silence them when there was no smoke.

My home remodel allows me to have the smoke alarms hardwired now. I no longer have to worry about battery runs out and hearing the non-stop chirp.
