I have owned many fitbit products including the fitbit one and the recalled force. After using force it was pretty difficult using other products and I was waiting for surge to be avaialble. Pros - The surge is a bit large if you like minimalist bands. However I have found surge to be adequate and not too large. It does track sleep and steps accurately. I have yet to use it for running. The heart rate monitor is fairly accurate during walks and workouts. Cons - The silent alarm buzzes for two seconds and not continuously and I have found it to be useless. The iphone alerts work only for messages and not third party apps. The price tag of $250 is kinda high as well.

I read all reviews on almost every website and I bought this surge and loved it. Definitely helped with keeping track on steps and calories burnt during workout. My other favorite feature of this surge was the sleep tracker, now I can see why I'm always so tired. The only thing I would recommend is the size. Definitely go for the large, I have a small wrist but felt like I was going to rip the band while weight lifting so I exchanged it for a larger size

If you are serious about fitness and attempting to track your progress and general activity, you will be hard pressed to find a better alternative at this price and application. The guidance for nutrition tracking is useful, but you need to keep abreast of the submission with regularity to have it produce any real value. Again, if you are looking for a resource to focus on one thing-physical activity and overall fitness, this is a very solid option. The sync with your smart phone is especially helpful and useful and getting texts reflected on the watch clues you in as to whether you need to interrupt your activity or continue until you are done. The charging element is the only drawback, because it does require charging after a few days of use, which interrupts your tracking-but considering that you likely weren't tracking all this activity before your purchase, it's something you can live with until they figure out a different alternative.

This watch works great. Easy set up. I like how phone call notifications occur while I use. The only cons I have is that it need to be charged several time a week. Never was able to go five days as stated. Also it is a little bulky on my wrist.

I love that my FitBit tracks it all. It was important that I know the amount of floors I climb since I hike a lot, and knowing that I am working harder, and that my HR is increasing is important for my calorie tracking. There are a few cons so far: The tracker battery dies after 4 days, the manual says it will last 7. Also, there is no way to turn the pedometer off in the event that you go horseback riding, which results in a lot of steps you didn't actually take. Finally, they recommend that you not submerge it in water, so no swimming or diving with it.

Great daily activity tracker and no chest strap to worry about! I had a polar hr but would forget the chest strap or foot pod. This you don't have to worry about it!

You get everything that you would expect it to come with. All of the exercise features work very well, and they're cool to play with. Even when you aren't exercising, the basic features (e.g. step counter, heart rate monitor, distance traveled, etc..) are nice to have. The sleep tracker is neat, but it isn't perfect, so you have to occasionally edit your sleep times. The only downside is that the battery doesn't last very long. With moderate use, I typically have to recharge it every day or so. However, it charges very fast - usually back up to full by the time I finish showering in the morning, so it's not a very big inconvenience. Overall I would recommend this if you're willing to spend the money for it.

I'm pleased with the Fitbit Surge! For the price, it gives me just the right amount of smart watch features without being too over the top. It's nice to know I got a text or call but I don't need a fancy colorful screen & lots of apps. This device pairs nicely with my phone and the Fitbit App. Easy to use. Display has option for LARGE digital clock face, which I can see, so I really dig that. Very pleased with this for the heart rate & GPS feature to track workouts. Loyal Fitbit users should also enjoy this device, a big step up from a One or Flex.

I purchased my surge and a surge for my husband for Christmas. I got the black band just to be neutral. The HR monitor is pretty accurate, not so sure about how accurate the steps monitors though, seems like way more tank what I really take. Like the other people have said it does have to fit snugly and that is taking some getting use to. Have only wore it to bed a couple of times, kept my sleeping time pretty close. The Fitbit dashboard is pretty neat, my husband and I are competing with our steps. He is currently in the lead, but I hope to close that gap!! Overall I like the Surge Fitbit and look forward to wearing when I bike!!

The Surge was Fitbits first step up to superwatch. It tracks your every step, even steps climbed. It’s built in gps is accurate. It monitors your heart rate, hours in rem sleep and receives brief texts from your phone. It isn’t waterproof , the band cannot be replaced, and it needs to be charged daily. Though now, a bit dated, it is still a good fitness tracker.

Prior to this had Nike GPS and had a terrible time with it finding GPS signal. I don't think I've had to wait for more than a minute for the Surge to pick up signal. I think the heart rate is fairly accurate for running maybe off a little on the elliptical, but better than what I had before which was nothing. The daily step goal keeps me motivated and occasionally I use the app to keep track of my intake. My only complaint I have with the Surge is when I'm running outside it proudly shows my elapsed time and I have to squint to see the stats I'm truly looking for which are my pace and distance. There is not an option to show pace or distance as the primary stat when I quickly check my wrist. Overall I love the Surge, a quick firmware change and it would be perfect for me.

I don't really know where to begin, but this watch has been amazing. I wanted an Apple Watch, however, I thought who needs a watch like that? I mean yes its awesome, however, I don't need all these fancy apps. I wanted a fitness watch that did exactly that track my fitness. It also tracks your heart rate, and sleep. WHICH I LOVE. I love that if I don't have a good nights sleep, I can look at the watch's app on my phone, and it will confirm I had a terrible nights sleep. It works for more personalized workouts, not just track one type of workout. This has been a great watch. Fitbit's site stated I needed a Large, however, I felt that was a big over kill. So I went into the store and they let me try a small on and it fit perfect. Also since I've owned this for a while now, the band will break in and will give a little, So I am able to go up a notch now. Great watch, won't be disappointed. I still get text and call notification so it works for me!

This wearable tech does exactly what it says it does. It's great to see my heart rate throughtout the day and compare to different activities. Sometimes the step count is a little off because it will say that I've taken about 100 steps and all I was doing was sitting in my car. That is one of the reasons that I have given it only 4 stars. The other reason being the sizing. The large is too loose and uncomfortable and the small I have to have on one of the last two latches because it would otherwise be constricting my wrist. Overall, I love that I can adjust my music, get text and call notifications, and heart rate and activity updates while I work out. I have worn my Surge in the shower and in the pool. It has stood up to the test, but as they warn you if you leave it wet for a decent amount of time you can expect your skin to break out as you would with most other materials that hug your skin.

This is my 2nd Fitbit Surge. It's my favorite fitness accessory so far. It tracks, my steps, my heart rate, my calories burned, and my pace when I run. It is super easy to use and quickly syncs with the app on my phone. I love the challenges because they help me keep moving even when I don't feel like it. My only criticisms are the big, bulky appearance and lack of water proofing. Sometimes, it messes up just from my sweat, but also if I get caught in the rain. A splash from a beach wave destroyed my first one.

There is no denying that Fitbit is a front runner in fitness tracking products. The Surge is Fitbit's top of the line product. Billed as the fitness Super Watch. If your looking for colorful background graphics stick with Samsung, or color coordinating wrist bands look at the Fitbit Flex. Surge Pros: Tracks Step, Stairs, Distance, Sleep Quality, Calories Burned & Heart Rate also up to 7 programmable exercise trackers, 2 Alarns, Caller Id and text message display, Robust App and syncs with many other Apps as well as leading Insurance and Medical Provider Sites Cons: Bulky and Mannish looking, poor back light, water resistant but not water proof

I love all of the details and options the screen has. Did find it a little confusing to set a few things up and did have to ask someone who already had one how to set up a few things. DId end up returning it because the small band was on the last hole and the large band wrapped way to much. Do wish it was waterproof, would have loved to use it to count laps in the pool.

I purchased the Fitbit for my fiancé on her birthday and she absolutely loves it. She's a very active person, always on the go, so to be able to track all of her steps, receive texts, listen to music, and monitor her heart rate has kept her in stride since she placed it on her arm. I know what I'll be adding to my list for Christmas.

I'm always looking for new ways to inspire myself to stay active, and so I decided to get a FitBit. I did some research on the various models, and I decided to get the Surge. It is, of course, the most expensive, but I find that if I don't buy the best I can afford then later I wish I would have because I decide I want all of the extra features. I like the Surge because it tracks everything. I am using Lose It! for tracking my food and that syncs with the Surge. The Surge also syncs with my Android smart phone. All of that was easy to set up. I was careful to make sure that everything was linked to everything else. The only problem I've had was that the band caused a rash on my arm. I had seen that complaint in some of the reviews, but I didn't expect it to happen to me because my skin isn't very sensitive and I seldom get rashes from anything. However, I had read a review that said they used moleskin between their skin and the band, and that works for me as well. I put the moleskin sticky side towards the band. I'm not sure how often I will have to replace the moleskin, but it is working for me. The only other complaint I have seen in other reviews is that the band breaks fairly quickly. So far (a couple of weeks) the band seems to be holding up fine. I did buy the two-year extended warranty (I usually don't buy those) just in case the band goes bad, because I don't see a workaround for it. I like tracking my sleep with the Surge (sleeping with it is probably what caused my rash - wearing it 24 hours a day except to shower). It is making me more aware of the times I go to bed and get up, which is good for me. Overall I would definitely buy it again.

While a competent step and heart rate monitor, the GPS feature is really good for tracking distance (as opposed to generalizing distance by step count) and elevation. The app even provides a map of hike, etc. I wish it was a bit smaller. I find it uncomfortable to sleep in. Would I buy it again? I'm unsure....but I really like the GPS feature.
