Good for what it does
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the fitbit ultra. I purchased it to get an idea of my sleep habits and it turns out that it works pretty well. You don't get super in depth information, just how many times you have "woken up". Because this is based on movement, if you move a lot while sleeping, it will record you as awake at that time. Fitbit says that it uses complex algorithms to determine when you are actually awake and not, and I think that they work pretty well for myself. The number of times I am reported awake feels about right, maybe only a little high. As for the rest of it, it is basically a pedometer. The flight of stairs climbed feature is nice, but easily fooled. If you walk in place while taking an elevator up, it will record you as walking up stairs. Not the greatest, but if you are taking elevators and feel the need to trick fitbit into thinking that you are taking stairs, this probably isn't for you anyway. The user interface is nice, but the food tracking isn't the greatest, I prefer Lose It! which can conveniently export its data to the fitbit dashboard. I really appreciate the clock that is there, now I no longer need to bring a watch with me on my runs. The battery life is excellent! The only electronic device I have where the battery life meets or exceeds what is advertised! As a side note, it doesn't really slip when running or playing sports, however it does tend shift when I am sitting at work. All in all, I really like the fitbit and I am totally satisfied. A note for new users, it will tell you how many calories you burn each day, even if you don't wear it/use it. These calories are your base metabolism and are calculated based on your height, weight, and age.

Excellent at monitoring info
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've now had my Fitbit for two months, and have lost 9 pounds. I credit the Fitibit with motivating me to walk (gotta get minimum 10,000 steps a day in), and I use the website to track my calorie intake. It gives me a great visual in my calorie intake versus my calories burned. I would highly recommend this product if you are a person who has trouble sticking with your diet or sticking with your work-out plan. Although it still takes motivation, at least you have something that helps keep you on track. If I want to take a day off, I know I have to make it up the other days to make my 70,000 steps in a week. As for the unit itself, I've never had any problems with it syncing. The battery life is awesome. I'm amazed at the accuracy it monitors my sleep (although I don't have a lot of use for that, but others may). Best $100 I've spent!!

FitBit Personal Trainer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This particular gadget may cause you to start competing with yourself, trying to improve your numbers and stats. Well, at least it has for me. And as far as I’m concerned, any little tool or gadget that will motivate me to make good health choices (and compete with myself to improve each day), is worth every penny. The FitBit is like a personal trainer (without the gym membership) that collects data about your daily activities, such as exercise intensity levels, calories burned, sleep quality, steps and distance. The collected data is automatically uploaded to your personal Fitbit website where you can track your progress towards personal goals. This little guy is small and sleek, no bigger than a blue tooth. You can place your FitBit in your pocket on your waistband, your shirt collar, etc. But I guess the most popular place for women, is right on their bra. And that’s where I put mine…..because sometimes I don’t have pockets and I don’t want it poking out on my waistband. However, if you want to clip it to your waistband, they send along a little holder that that you slide it into, which allows for thicker waistbands that may include a belt. The FitBit uses motion sensor technology (just like the Nintendo Wii remote) and measures your motion all day long. The Fitbit accurately tracks your physical activity, steps taken, distance traveled, and calories burned. It also measures your sleep quality. What? Yeah. You just slide your little FitBit onto this wrist band (which is soft and non-buggy at all) and hop in bed. Then simply hold the button down for 3 seconds, which will put the device in sleep mode. The Fitbit will track your total sleep time as well as how much movement you had while sleeping and how many times you woke up. Then it will analyze your information and give you a report of your overall sleep quality for that night. Pretty. Darn. Cool. To charge your FitBit, just place it right into the docking station (that’s connected to your computer through a USB cable) and one charge will last 10 days … and only takes 90 minutes to charge. And any time you’re within 15 feet of the docking station, your FitBit will automatically transfer your information right over to your online account. What do you do with all of this information? Well, you can track your progress, set goals for yourself, try and beat your best scores, etc. You can also see what your slow days are like, figure out why you were so sedentary that day…..and then make some changes. Okay, and you can also do a whole lot more. There’s everything you can think of on your online account, keeping you right on track. You can even access your information on your iphone or droid phones and always keep tracking. The overall goal of the Fitbit is to make you more aware of your daily activity and promote you to live a more active lifestyle. And that results in a healthier you. Pretty neat little gadget, if you ask me.

It's Worth It!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for something that was easy to use, compact, durable, and accurate. I must say this unit is all those things and more. Fitbit tracks steps, sleep patterns, calories burned, and even calories comsumed with their free online website. If you are worried about accuracy you can even manually enter in your stride length for more accurate results. I used this on the elliptical machine and it was accurate as far as distance. However, if you are doing any kind of intense exercises it is probably best to manually enter it in to be sure it recorded the correct amount of calories burned. You can manually enter in many activities such as weight lifting or cooking. The unit updates wirelessly to the base every 15 minutes and the battery lasts about 10 days on one charge. I reccomend this to anyone who wants some sort of way to track what they do day to day.

Just what I was looking for!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to find something discrete. I wanted to be able to track calories and steps and know what calories were burned. I am a stay at home mom with barely any time to work out but this way I can make sure I hit a certain amount in my daily activity. Unlike other units you can get a read out on the device. I have had a pedometer and I find this to be more accurate and…discrete. I clip it to my bra strap, it is secure and out of the way. Only thing…I don’t think anything can really track ones sleep patterns well. However that was not what I was looking for.

i'm in love with my Fitbit. Seriously.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, I normally don't fill out reviews on products, but I have to give my feedback on this amazing little tracker. After a year and a half of using a bulky pedometer daily and also tracking my food intake using Sparkpeople, I was ready for something better. Something that combined the step tracking, weight tracking, and food intake all in one place. I found it (and more..it also tracks the hours you sleep each night) in the Fitbit device/website. Things I love about the Fitbit: - easy to wear (works great on my bra) - beyond the steps and sleep tracking, the website also allows you to track your weight, bp readings, glucose, heart rate and even customizable tracking (like how often I eat chocolate for example) - the food intake portion is user friendly and allows you to add food if it is not already in the database. The favorite foods and meal section makes it super easy to click and add to your daily caloric intake - i love that you can compare yourself ( based on either age, gender, BMI or all 3) to others to see how you rank in steps and acitivity - the historical data tab on the home page is a great way to see your progress in graphs over time...awesome! I have recommended this tracker to several friends and co-workers... what a great system to help you stay healthy and on target. In this day and age (of fast food, drive everywhere mentality, huge portions, tv/computers etc.) we can all use a tool to help us succeed. Hats off to Fitbit for providing a tool to do just that. Yes!!

Reveals you only thought you knew what you knew!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a month of using this, I realize my busy work days involved only half to two-thirds of the walking I thought I was doing. Other activities (shoveling, skiing) were either more or less active than anticipated. The unit is small, easy to wear (or lose), accurate with my elliptical machine, and offers insight into daily activity. After realizing I am sleeping at a 98% efficiency, I will no longer wear it at night. Just understanding my daily activity motivates me to become more active on my slow days. The battery has a significant capacity - over a week. I did have to plug into my computer (via USB) to synch. The website allows you to be completely involved with tracking activity, dietary intake and sleep, as well as weight, BMI, body fat %, etc. I'm not interested in that but, even as a pedometer, this will occasionally come in handy.

your best fitness friend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this little thing! First, you set it up on your computer with your height, weight, age, etc. Then, you clip it on to the middle of your bra, or your belt and GO. FitBit tracks: Calories you burn throughout the day, flights of stairs you climb, the time, how many steps you take each day~I always aim for over 10,000. (You get special badges online if you make it over 5,000 or 10,000 steps) , how many miles you logged for that day. This has been so helpful when I’m running outside and not really sure of the distance. And the little flower is my favorite~the more active you are, the more it grows. You dock it on the little stand via USB and it will send all your info to your computer where you can compare days, weeks, months, and most importantly PROGRESS. You can make goals for yourself, log food eaten, how long you exercised, etc. so it can help you track even better. It also can track your sleep! You clip it onto this little cuff at night on your non-dominant hand, press and hold the button, and it will start tracking your sleep. It also has a stopwatch feature if you want to see how long a particular workout is. He’s also kind of sassy and sends you little boosts of inspiration like "burn it" "run" "bonjour" etc. Can you tell I’m completely hooked? This little thing goes everywhere with me...and motivates me like no other!

This had made fitness FUN!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot say enough good things about my FitBit. I love it! I joined MyFitnessPal several weeks ago to track my food and saw that FitBit interacts with MyFitnessPal. I think what sold me on FitBit was the sleep tracker. It is a mystery to me at times why my sleep quality varies. Now I can see exactly how many times I wake up and can look for trends with stress levels, food or exercise. And it is as easy as pushing the button. I also love, love the fact that I don't have to constantly remove it to sync or charge. So far the charge is lasting longer than a week and it syncs to my home computer dock just by walking around the house. It has really helped movitate me to walk more steps and challenge myself to beat my highest number. It is also so great to see my calorie burn for the day and when I work over my goal the extra moves over to MyFitnessPal as negative calories for the day. I have told so many people to pick one up at Best Buy. I wish I got a kickback. :)

I love this gadget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the fitbit it met every expectation I had. I have heard comments that it's a fancy pedometer but if you use it for all the items it can track it is far more. It will track your sleep, weight, activities, steps, calories, glucose, BP, body measurements. It will give you reports weekly and you earn badges when you meet goals to help motivate you. If that is not enough to motivate you, you have an option to join a social network experience which is an extra $50. I have not joined so I do not know if it is worth it. This item comes with the fitbit, wristband so you can wear it comfortably at night,, and a base unit to plug into your computer. It will automatically sync with your computer you do not have to put it on the base except to recharge it. It's simple very user intuitive. I recommended this to two friends and they both love it . I have definitely obtained a better outlook of my activities and eating habits. It also has a mobile app that you can have with you on your phone when away from your computer to enter activity, food log, weight, etc., it does sync with the online website to update your entries. I have been wearing it for two months and I'm glad I spent the money for it. Good luck and good health. : )

Same route & it gives me different mileage & time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I take the same routes and it has continually given me different data. No 2 days are the same. No consistency in data tracking. I tried it for 30 days & it was always wildly different . I am returning it!

Love it! Accurate-easy to use-comfortable-discrete
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recommend for any one who wants to establish & track fitness goals. Devise displays data for viewing during day (restsets @ midnight). Data is maintained in devise for days & can be reviewed after sync. Extremely accurate & includes steps taken, flights of stairs, miles walked, calories burned & SLEEP. Sleep data allows you to see a bar chart of activity & nightly score for sleep quality! All on-line data is available in numbers & charts. The on-line site allows for the tracking of other health data like blood pressure, food intake, blood sugar, etc. The design is very small (about size of a USB flash drive) and allows for discrete & comfortable clipping to center of bra, shirt pocket, waist band, to a lanyard or just put into your pocket. It also tells the time!!

Functional
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Fitbit features are what I was looking for. The sleep tracker is great and informative. The unit itself is very small and discrete. It comes with a little holster that I advise you to use to lessen the stress of widening the gap when clipping it to clothing. The cover of the LCD, button and some plastic piece flew off spontaneously, like a little explosion. Everything was snapped back together and within a month of purchase. The base wirelessly transfers the data onto your profile. The LCD is faint and can be difficult to read when in direct sunlight. Battery life is also pretty long. It could also be used by the dog!

My new favorite fitness gadget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love my new fitbit. It has completely inspired me to be more active and eat better. The device is a great value (other similar items I priced were double the cost), and it is very easy to setup and use. The fitbit allows you to track your calories burned, steps taken, miles walked, even your sleeping patterns. And the fitbit has a companion website where you can journal your food, your mood, your exercise activities... you can journal all or none of these things and create an online profile to monitor and inspire yourself. You can even share parts of your account with another friend who has a fitbit. I love this device! I highty recommend it... it really motivates me!

If you need motivation - try this out!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only had fit-bit ultra for about 2 months but ever since I purchased it, the fit-bit has become a constant companion. It makes me want to keep challenging myself to keep up with daily walking and exercise, which is especially important coming from a job where the desk becomes almost a second home. Living in a small town - it only takes 5 minutes to walk anywhere so it is tough to keep motivation up when scenery never changes, but the fit-bit is a great, but silent coach. I make sure that I have it with me from the time I get up until I go to bed. (have not worked on the sleep function yet). Always have fit-bit with me because I never want to cheat myself out of any steps that I have taken or floors that I have climbed. Since I have had the fit-bit, I walk so much that my dogs run and hide because they just cannot handle another walk that day. I would give it a 5-star rating but I have not had it long enough to commit to that yet - but all signs point to that being the case in a short while. "Get walking or get out of the way" - something like that anyway. Well, gotta go - time to look for the dogs!

This does a lot for my motivation!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 3 other pedometers sitting in my drawer. When I purchased the FitBit in early February it went on my pants and has hardly been off since! It is so much fun to watch all of the numbers go up! Everyday I am finding new places to walk!! I love that it can also keep track of my sleep patterns. It does add extra floors when I am walking on a really windy day, but I assume that has something to do with the barometric pressure. All in all it is a wonderful tool to keep you going on your walking goal!!

Excellent pedometer and program
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wear this on my belt each day and it is small enough that people don't even realize I have it on. I have linked my MY FITNESS PAL account to my FITBIT account so I can ealsily track calories in versus caories burned. Battery seems to last several days and is easy to recharge. It has helped to inspire me to walk more and has even helped me understand my sleeping habits. Keeps track of how long I sleep, how long it takes to get to sleep, ad a good idea as to how many times I wake up durig the night. (Burn 9 calories at 1:45AM, etc.) I have already recommended this to several of my colleagues in the office.

Well worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I picked up a pair of these to help us gather data to assist us in our weight loss. After having them for about a week I can say boy do they provide data! From my testing, I'd say they estimate on the high end of the scale for steps and mileage. I did 2 miles on our treadmill and it showed I did over 2 1/4. So I imagine the steps are a bit high too. However, because it so far seems consistent it gives us the data we were looking for. If I take 13,000 steps one day, and only 8,000 the next I know that I didn't do as much. If I burn 3500 calories one day, and only 2800 the next... again I know I'm slacking. So it helps me target exactly how much effort I need to put into my workout. The sleep patterns are again a bit off. Mine normally says I fall a sleep in less than 10 min's every night. However I know I am a way a lot longer than that (normally takes me 20 - 30 min's to fall a sleep). But it does tell me how much I was moving around at night, and therefor likely not getting good sleep. So while it's again not exact, it gives me consistent data that I can use. I can't rate the durability over the long run yet from personal experience, but someone I work with has had it for several months and has not experienced any issues. The batter life is awesome, it's been going 5 days now with out being recharged. I wish my cell phone would have as good of battery life. Bottom line - If your looking to either loose weight, or just trying to get in better shape, you need real data to be able to judge where you are and what your doing. This little device gives you that.

I love my fitbit.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my fitbit about a month ago. I love it. I am trying to lose just 10 pounds. I was keeping track of my calories by using my fitness pal which is an app I downloaded on my iphone. My fitbit works with the my fitness pal app. My fitbit also trends how I am sleeping which great for me since I work a rotating shift. The battery last roughtly five days without charging and it syncs with my computer without having to put it on the cradle. It was also cheaper than similar products such as the nike band, which doesn't trend sleep.

Very Motivational
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant about purchasing this but I am now so glad that I did. It has motivated me to do my best every day. It makes me want to get up and do more. I started losing weight immediately. It's discreet. I wear it clipped to my bra and nobody knows I am wearing it. I can check it through out the day to see what my stats are, I had considered the body bugg but was turned off by the bulk and by the fact that everyone can see it. Body bug requires that you purchase your display separatey as well as a membership to their website. With FITBIT these are both free features. The battery life has been great.
