    Rushed product

The fitbit has all the markings of a product that was rushed to market in our society's latest gadget craze. It's poorly made (just read their message board) and their software is highly buggy and unstable (also, just read their own message board.) I bought two fitbits over the course of a weekend and took both back for different reasons. The first one wouldn't charge and died, so I took it back. The second one would not sync to my Mac, which they admit they are having issues being totally Mac friendly. But, the Fitbit also didn't sync with my PC laptop. Both machines are fairly new and in good working order. The syncing is weird to say they least. Your information syncs to your profile on their website, so you have to be logged in to their site, the base station plugged in, to sync and... well in my case it just never synced. Their message boards and community pages are littered with syncing problems, and crazy "stand on your head" suggestions to get it to sync, including going into your computer's terminal, restarting multiple times, DLing unstable beta versions of their software. In the end it's not and IF it's a WHEN you won't be able to sync the unit and you're restarting your machine, going into advanced install procedures, and doing a break dance to get the thing to resync- something you'll want to do daily. There is also NO 1800 number for support; all support is done via email, where they give you a formed response to your issue, which you probably could find out in a google search. If you read about the company bio, it's a small start up in silicon valley, of apparently some out of work software engineers who had an idea, and are cashing in on ignorant consumers. I consider myself slightly above average in the tech savyness dept. and do not recommend the Fitbit. Their website does get a solid B+ in my book, and you don't really need their device to do alot of the things on it. However, If you want something like the fitbit I suggest the Body Bug, it's 150$ but you get what you pay for.

    Failed after about 5 weeks

Purchased two, one failed after about 5 weeks. Unit works as advertised, easy to setup, free portion of website provides a decent amount of daily tracking information. BUT, only comes with 90 day warranty. Fitbit technical/warranty support slow to respond (still waiting), no way to call to get support. Forums on website says they are experiencing higher than normal technical support turnaround times. Sigh....

    Disappointed

I bought the fit bit after much consideration and reading of reviews. I should have listened to a couple of things. 1) It is small and easily lost. I NEVER lose things but the clip is very cheap and may fall off clothes easily. I have already found the device once outside my car and once burried in my bed. 2) If you are a sparkpeople user.... stick with sparkpeople. That tool has more information and more foods that you can track. I feel like fit bit is very incomplete. I would not buy this again.

Sync broke within the first 7 days. Proposed solution [after 4 days] was to uninstall, get latest software version and reinstall.

It would be great.....if it actually worked!

I was really looking forward to this. It sounded like such a good thing, and I loved that it would wirelessly sync with my computer to keep track of everything. What I discovered is that it will NOT sync with the computer unless I turn the computer off, then on again (every time) or unplug the base unit and plug it back in again (every time). Not at all convenient, and certainly not what is advertised. The only way to reach Customer Service is via Email, and they take, by their own admission, 1-2 days to respond. The response is a generic response, basically reiterating the false claims made in advertising. Absolutely no help at all. No way to guess if they will respond further, or continue to ignore requests for help. This company will not stand behind their product. Buyer beware. You might end up paying $100 for what a $10 pedometer can do.

It could stand to utilize a little more engineering. There were days of sitting at teh computer it was showing 50 flights of stairs and 19000 steps.

I broke when I unboxed it

I've been watching this product for over a year, and finally got a chance to buy it. I unboxed it as soon as I got back into my car, and after feeling around, the housing came upart exposing the circuit board. I would have exchanged for another but for my experience that teaches to abandon new stuff the sooner it breaks. This was a recond quick break. The housing was lightly glued. this easily become undone when my fingernail lightly touched the seam. How can it survive sweat and rain with seams like this? I honestly wish it had worked out.

    Glorified Step Counter

Spend the money for what you really want: something that makes tracking activity, nutrition and steps more automated - this is nothing more than a glorified step counter - if that's all you want - spend $10 on a step counter and be done with it - I returned this and got a competitors model that was slightly more expensive- MUCH MUCH better - remember: you get what you pay for

    Dont buy this product

When the product has a problem you are on your own. They don't have a live customer service person. You go online and they send you a standard form to work through. Did that a week ago and have not heard back. Complained twice on the forum but they ignore you there also.

    Fitbit failed after one week...

After only one week, during a 5k race, the unit went blank and now refuses to reset, charge or sync data. Since I bought this through the fitbit website, I have to contact them for a replacement, co if Bestbuy offers a protection plan - TAKE IT!!!

Seems like a great idea, but the materials and workmanship is poor. Only after a couple day the unit cracked inside the bend. I have seen on the net others had the same problem,

Very cheaply made plastic design. Had mine less than a week before it broke apart getting out of the car. Should have bought the insurance. Good idea, poor design.
