I was hesistant in purchasing a chromebook because of the lack of producitivy found in a windows based machine (office apps/games/work files/etc.) Additionally, I didn't want to spend a whole lot on a "great" laptop--when i finally thought it over--I realized I mainly use a laptop for web surfing, youtube, and netflix. I jumped on the chromebook bandwagon and love it. It boots up quickly, and the flip + touchscreen make this a complete package. I don't know if I could do a chromebook w/o touch-it sometimes easier to just hit the screen as opposed to using the mousepad. In addition, this chromebook is super light!!!

Questions you should ask yourself if considering this purchase.
Do you use Google products? This includes Gmail, Drive, Hangouts, Music, Docs, or the Chrome web browser?
- if so then you know how to use a chromebook. On the surface this machine is ready out of the box to do just about everything you could need to do on the internet. Plus the added convenience of an expansive Play store for browser applications and games.
Are you looking for a second computer, possibly a tablet or remote access device for your powerful desktop/ home theater PC.
- Everything travels with you in the Google Chromeverse. You get 100 GB of Drive cloud storage for 2 years, as an added bonus to your account syncing all of your mail, contacts, bookmarks, themes, add-ons, passwords, applications, even web browser tabs across all of your devices.
Are you looking for something that requires little to no maintenance, updating, no necessary paid software (built in virus protection), will last for many years without having to worry about the software glitching up?
- As stated above, almost everything you do is in the cloud and travels with you. These hold little on the 32GB internal drive, but have access to a micro-SD card reader for convenience. This way the operating system does not have to worry about clutter, and it should continue to run smooth for much longer than anything Windows at the same price.
Is it important that the interface is simple and familiar to navigate?
- It's Google Chrome! If you already use the web browser than you know how to use a chromebook. If not, then I suggest giving it a try along with the Chrome App Launcher.
CHROMEBOOKS ARE AWESOME! very easy to use, and boots up to 100& in SECONDS from off, almost immediately wakes up from sleep.
I really could go on, but that covers some basics. I hope this at least gives you a place to start, and do enjoy!
Highly recommended for uses such as:
-Second computer/ tablet
-Shared secure access device - Including guest access
-Remote access w/touch screen to duplicated screen or extended monitor. Chrome Remote Desktop
-Streaming/ USB Music Player
-Streaming/ USB Video Player
-Casting device, pairs with chromecast!
-Almost anything you can do in your Chrome web browser right now* (*except Flash Player unless your streaming it through a windows PC. Look at that, easy fix!)
If your looking for a google device to attach to your tv or spare monitor with a Chomebook experience, check out the Chromebit.

There are a lot of great things about this Chromebook. I can make it a tablet for reading. It travels like a dream. The battery life is amazing. I've been able to write in spaces I couldn't before because I don't need to worry about finding a place to charge. I find the keyboard to be comfortable and the touchpad to be intuitive but not too touchy.
Cons: Most of the cons I knew before I bought it, but just to list them for those who don't know: the Chromebook runs most things through apps, and even though there are some offline items, you generally need a wi-fi connection. There's no external word processing programs...Google Drive is what you get.
One thing I didn't know was that certain sites do freeze the Chromebook and I have to wait for a few minutes for it to refresh. Facebook is the main site that does this, so I have to limit my time to avoid freezing.
Overall, I love this little gadget and would definitely by a new one.

I am okay that this was a little more expensive than other chromebooks because it is far superior. The touchscreen, speed, battery, and reloability are worth every penny! Asus is such a great company and I own many of their products.

I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Asus Flip 2-in-1 10.1 Touch-Screen Chromebook.
When my beloved ole' MacBook died, I was in a bind: I needed a laptop for work and personal productivity, but couldn't afford an exact replacement.
Behold, the Chromebook. I researched this concept and grew comfortable with it. A wonderful Best Buy employee helped me narrow my search.
I immediately fell in love with my new computer. It turns on and off instantly. Its software automatically updates, with no wait. Its screen offers a crisp, beautiful image. Its innards make NO noise! It does not heat up. It is not loaded with excessive software that you will never use~ only very functional basics. By downloading Chromebook apps, you customize your already-streamlined experience.
I absolutely recommend this Chromebook. To everyone. For every reason!!

I am very pleased with the features and performance of this ASUS chromebook. It is the first time I purchase from ASUS, and so far, the performance has been very satisfactory. Loading is fast, and picture is very clear. I love the fact that I don't have to waste time waiting for updates on the various programs. Used this basically to watch some You Tube videos and check email in a rush. Also love the keyboard if I need to compose email.

I needed a laptop for my daughter who is homeschooled. Her curriculum is delivered through a website where she studies and does her school work. The problem has been that sometimes she will go to other websites and get distracted from her studies with popular songs or funny YouTube videos. It was way too much work to try to set up the PC or Mac to keep her on her school website and keep her from going far afield. But a Chromebook was easy to set up and hold her accountable. This Chromebook allowed us to give her freedom of having the whole web at her disposal and yet keep her accountable for where she goes during studies. Excellent Google. And the Asus is a great Chromebook. For a great price we get something that is almost as good as an iPad in quality. So from Asus we have a great price and great hardware. From Google we have great software. And our daughter is getting a great education. In fact this has been such a great computer for us that we have ordered a second for our younger son.

I have been an avid Chromebook user since they were first released. Each generation has improved on the last. With the introduction of this ASUS 2 in 1 Chromebook with touch screen technology, my work life has been a breeze. As an inventory control person who must maintain accurate inventories in a warehouse without scanners or QRI access, I have come to rely on this device. I have to create meaningful inventory statements and cost analyses for the Administrative team and this device allows me to complete all these tasks.
I inventory in ten different storage locations, some with wireless access and some without. This device allows me to work offline and then either upload through the limited wireless in the Admin area, or through my ethernet line. Although the Chromebook is not compatible with our server technology, so I cannot access my server files through the device, since I use Google's online suite for real-time inventory updates and control, this is not a problem.
Way to go ASUS.

This is my first Chromebook. When I found out that I can run Android apps on it as well as ChromeOS tabs I decided to get this to replace my aging Kindle Fire HD tablet. I had been looking for an Android tablet to replace the fire, but I had a hard time finding the "sweet spot". It seemed like everything was either expensive or underpowered (sometimes both). Many of the tablets run outdated OS versions and will never be updated by the manufacturer. Google constantly updates ChromeOS so my Flip always be current. The screen, RAM, storeage, and CPU are at least comparable and sometimes better than tablets in this price range.
The screen is somewhat of a low resolution, but it is more than adequate for a unit this size. I am happy with the picture quality and the wide viewing angles. I like the light weight and the slim profile. I can easily carry it around and take it with me places I would never bring my 15 inch laptop. The Flip does 90%+ of what I ever use a laptop for at least adequately and sometimes very well. Starts and shuts down quickly. The keyboard is slightly cramped but it surprisingly comfortable to use for a device of this size. The keys feel good. I would have liked a keyboard backlight but don't expect that on a device at this price. The trackpad and touchscreen both work as well as any I have ever used. I don't understand why the power cord has a mini USB instead of a micro USB connector, but that isn't a bid deal. The battery lasts all day and then some, so I don't need to be able to plug it in to charge everywhere - only at home over night.
I would recommend The ASUS Chromebook Flip to anyone that was interested in a small, light, portable 2 in 1 device.

Purchased as an Open Box Item for under $150. It is defiantly serving its purpose as my husbands last laptop broke when our son dropped it off of his bed. Couldn't be happier with the easy and functionality of this product. It is super light weight, was easy to set up, the touch screen makes it easy to access one page from another. The best feature is that the product has the option to become a tablet for our youngest child who has taken over our Samsung Note 10.1 Tablet.

Happy with puchase overall.
Pros: Great battery life, responsive touch screen, not alot of bloatware.
Cons: not a huge deal but screen could be brighter, resolution alittle better. Also when using with keyboard flipped / tablet mode your fingers keep pressing the keys, yes the keyboard is disabled in tablet mode but still feels weird.
If screen reso was tad better & they figured out a way to not touch keys in tablet mode this would be 5 stars. Still glad i picked one up.

This chromebook is very light and easy to use. Feels good in your hands and doesn't feel delicate. For anyone new to Chromebook, remember you cannot download Microsoft Office but you can still use the online versions. Easy to set up shortcuts on the Chromebook. Speakers could be a little louder but still great for its size. It does slow down a lot when about 5 or so tabs are open.

My kids school requires she bring her own device to middle school and they use chrome books at school. This one is even a little more exciting in that it is a touch screen and that is folds all the way around so that the keyboard becomes the stand to stand it up and use it as a tablet. You should note that this is not a tablet and you cannot download apps/games to it. But for everything kids do today at school with google docs, etc. and to access the internet it works perfectly! Also, longer battery life than a tablet and tablets don't have keyboards. For us it's a perfect 1st computer!

We got this chrome book for our middle schooler to do homework on and for "bring your own device" school days. He loves that he can use either the keyboard or the touchscreen, as well as fold it flat like a tablet. It is very light and easy to slip in a backpack. It's smaller size is a bit of a trade-off, but one we were willing to make.

I was surprised that when I was looking at this computer at Best Buy, the sales staff in the store really would not tell me anything about it. There was an end-cap that had a nice sign that said “Chrome OS” or something like that. I talked to 3 different people about it and they told me that it was basically a big Android cell phone that couldn't make cell calls. I found this to be odd for the staff at Best Buy to say such a thing and they kept telling me that I would not be happy with this purchase. I told them that they didn't even know what they were talking about it and that it was not an Android tablet. I purchased one of these, a case, and an external hard drive. I did an “un-boxing” of it, tested it out and I am rather happy with it. I am familiar with Linux Operating Systems and I did know that this was a Linux based OS so I was OK with it. The Chrome OS works great, I have not had any crashes to think of. The ASUS flip is a great 2 in 1 machine. My daughter liked it so much that she went and got one as well. The ASUS flip is well made, light weight, and easy to use. Do not compare this to a Mac or a Windows computer, they are totally different. This machine uses the cloud for most things but there is a lot of things that can be done “off line”. I call it my Internet computer, it is quick and fast. Since I guess it is actually a Netbook, it is smaller and there is not a Caps Lock or a Delete Key. I have always used short cut keys but I had to learn a lot these. I would recommend this to anyone for the price.

I came in planning to buy a laptop, but after seeing the Chomebook, I felt it was more in line with my needs. I have not been disappointed. It was simple to learn to use. I have not wanted to do anything that this product could not do. I also love the touch screen. In addition, it cost me half of what the laptop I was looking at would have cost me.
