If you tolerate Russell Brand, it's worth it. If not, watch something else without Russell Brand.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the story of Peter Bretter, a TV show music composer who gets dumped by Sarah Marshall, the star of the show he works for, after a five year relationship. Heartbroken he goes to Hawaii to hopefully get away from his misery for a little while. Unfortunately for him, he ends up at the same hotel in which Sarah is staying with her new boyfriend, the rocker Aldous Snow. Peter manages to get through the awkwardness of being stuck in this situation by befriending some of the various people around the resort, and he eventually falls in love with Rachel, a kind hotel clerk who is symapthetic to his predicament.
It's a very funny film. Its take on break-ups and celebrity are both frank and at times brutal. The writing is extremely memorable, along the same lines as such now-classics as Superbad and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. If you liked the style of humor of those films, then this one is for you.
The film's great strength is its characters. There are some great minor roles filled by Jonah Hill and Paul Rudd(who along with Russell Brand, who plays Snow, is the show-stopper here), and even the "bad" characters like Sarah and Snow are in fact not bad at all and are shown as very human characters. It's a very unique comedy, and I urge you not to pass it up.

Everyone is used to seeing movies that focus on the woman in a breakup but Forgetting Sarah Marshall decides to focus on the man. As a man that has been dumped a lot, I connected with this movie. Some of the things he was doing were exactly what i was doing. Of course though this movie is a comedy and is hilarious. This is a situation comedy where the broken hearted man goes to Hawaii to get away from his problems only to find his ex is there with her new lover. The blu ray disc offers two version of the film and a load of special features. For anyone who loves seeing the behind the scenes workings of a movie set this disc has some great features for you. The BD Live capability brings even more special features only available on BD Live, such as audition tapes.
If you are tired of seeing the same sappy movies with your girlfriend, pick this one up for a funny look at the male side of the break up.

After watching this movie the first time, I was kinda disappointed. It wasn't as funny as everyone made it out to be, but I did watch the unrated extended version, and I must say that seeing Jason Segel's lower region 3 or 4 times in the first 15 minutes is kind of, well, kind of unsettling.
Since the movie starts out slow (and continues to be a little slow) it's tough to get into. I watched the extended version with all of the deleted scenes, so it may have been a bit slower than usual. I'm hoping that the second viewing without those 200 extra scenes will be a bit better. It was funny, but hopefully it will be more funny without the endless babbling of the extended version. That's why I gave it a 4 and not a 5.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to see this film; so many movies masquerade as comedies in the trailer, only to turn, once they've lured you in, into vile, sentimental, boring, and ultimately depressing stories about loss and what it means to be defeated (like, as a lifestyle). This movie, on the other hand, is what it advertises: a comedy. And though there are some heartfelt moments, the film never feels like it's going down and bent on taking you with it. Mila Kunis is great and extremely appealing, as is Russell Brand, the story is interesting and in many ways original, and the supporting cast does a fantastic job of bringing depth and a substantial feel to the scenes. Well worth the time and money.

I do love this movie, which is why i bought it on DVD and then replaced the DVD with a Blu-Ray. It was disappointing though. The quality of the DVD was as good as the Blu-Ray. I double checked with my friends to make sure and they did agree. I ended up selling the Blu-Ray on eBay and kept the DVD. The movie is really great though, RomCom at its best. If you must get the Blu-Ray I can't stop you, but Image quality is DVD-like you can't see much detail in their faces, the Hawaiian scenery or anything else really.

This movie portrays an inevitable part of life that we all go through at one time or another; heartbreak. Though the central theme of the movie is that of a heartbroken man that is trying to forget the girl he thought was to forever be "the one", it offers a good two hours of comedy.
+
After discovering that his long time girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), the hottest actress on TV, has decided to leave him for someone else, Peter (Jason Segal) decides to take a small quest to find himself and forget about her.
+
He speaks with a doctor, becomes a short time womanizer, then ultimately decides that he just needs to take a lengthy vacation. Upon arriving at Hawaii, a place that Sarah always talked about visiting, he finds that she just so happens to be there with her new rock-star boyfriend, Aldrous (Russell Brand).
+
Peter ends up meeting a gorgeous customer service rep., Rachel (Mila Kunis), from the resort and soon finds that forgetting Sarah Marshall isn't the hardest thing in the world.
+
The movie takes multiple twists and turns and ends up with the good ol' fashioned "everyone's happy" ending. Good movie, worth watching, but I will say, the nudity kind of catches you off guard! A very okward, uncomfortable scene!!!

Great movie. Except in the beginning when you get a full frontal of Jason Segel. But other then that this movie was hysterical. Different story, not your typical comedy. There are some characters in this movie that just will crack you up. Definitely not for kids. I haven't watched the unrated version yet, so I don't know how much worse it can get. But if you like comedies with some what of a love story this is one of the best ones out there.

YAY, finally they made a movie about the mans side of a break up. The subtle humor in the movie is great. "Table for 1, No take the other place setting away." Of course the falling in love with the beautiful front desk clerk is kind of nice. And the woman getting hers in the end made the movie great.
The full frontal male nudity is definately not for the kids to watch, but all in all the movie is great.

if you havent seen it, then do it. great comedy. i havent seen a movie written by either seth or evan that hasnt been funny. just watched pineapple express (also a gem) and cannot wait till this release on dvd. some of the best movements are between Jonah and the rocker dude, but even the later chemistry between the the main character and mila kunis really seems to work.

Great movie and one of my favorite comedies. The cast is amazing and hilarious, and everyone has great chemistry as well. Jason Segel and Mila Kunis are extremely lovable, and this movie is hilarious from start to finish. The Dracula musical scene is one of the best, and you definitely will not regret watching this movie. A must watch movie!

very funny for jason segal's first leading role..they could have use better leading women than kristen bell and mila kunis because the chemistry isnt that great between the couples but the comedy in begining starts of strong and still some in the end with the exception of some funny full frontal shots.a great movie to add to the collection!
