After I tried the demo, I knew I had to preorder. This game is pretty good. I'm having a blast with the magic and zipping around the landscape. I am finding a few things rather annoying, thus the star deduction. They are as follows.
1) Took way too long to open up. Or maybe it felt that way because I don't particularly care for Frey's personality, but I understand why she's that way.
2) I do not like that they won't allow you to move at all when having certain dialogue with vambrace
3) The cut scene transitions and scene skips seem a bit odd. It takes too long for the transition from scene to gameplay or it cuts really fast and looks odd
4) The detours aren't that interesting, but I've been know to do even the most mundane of quests in any open world before, so this isn't a huge deal.
Otherwise, I'm having fun using the different spells and discovering the many things this huge map has for explorers, like myself. I love that you can scan the area for goodies because nothing hurts more than scouring an area in hopes to be rewarded with loot and you find nothing. With this scanning ability, my mind and heart can be at peace knowing no loot was left behind.

Underrated Game, Wait for Sale

Seriously underrated game with a compelling story and a wonderful magic based system of combat.
Only gripe is the Whedon-esque dialogue that gets old, and the inability to switch off certain HUD elements to tailor the game to your enjoyment. The open world although impressively expansive, can sometimes be overwhelming if you are a completionist.

This game has been very popular to hate on but it isn't bad at all. Sure the lighting was pretty bad on release, but that has been fixed through a patch. Granted this game does not look as good as the reveal trailer but it still looks fine to me. I'm more of a person that values gameplay over graphics and story. That being said if you are the opposite then you might not have a good time with this one.
A lot of people criticize the main character as annoying, but I find her relatable. Can't realistically expect a person to have a "bubbly" personality if they've been struggling most of their life. Frey is a broken protagonist and it shows. Frankly I find her character refreshing compared to the typical bend over backwards for anyone hero.
The combat is fun and so is traversal. You get access to tons of spells throughout this game and they all get more interesting as the story progresses.

Pros
Good action/story mix game moves along quickly
Hard difficulty offers challenges for dedicated players. Exploring is always rewarded. mostly with trinkets although as a whole the motivation to find every trinket is minimal as they have little impact on gameplay. Level progression is multi facited
Cons
Easy dodge fail and occasinaly sloppy feeling controls make dieing easy and navigation difficult at times. The trade off is the freedom granted by the environment to fight most battles on your terms. Some seriously op bullet spong enemies make for 20minuet battles that end in you getting 1 hit killed while the enemy has 10% health left.
Most spells apear impresive visually but do little damage leaving you wanting more from you magic.
Overall i recomend the game as a fun adventure with a entertaing story and plenty of enviroment to explore.

Do Not Believe The Reviews The Game Is INCREDIBLE

Do not believe the reviews, so many people are sheep and never even played the game. They watch reviews and have people think for them. The game is incredible, and I mean breathtaking. It does have some flaws like every other game but It has better traversal than Spiderman, the most power fantasy epic combat I have ever seen, jaw dropping graphics ( except cutscenes lol). Goofy funny and over the top acting and it is a modern day fairy tale. Buy this game, it takes a little while to get going but when it does.....nothing compares.

After the demo I was not really grasping the controls. But the game is a much slower start with a good story and introduction that I mastered the controls and the combat is out of this world. Has a great twists and turns to the story as well.

Before you tear this review down for liking the game, just hear me out. The game is a pretty decent open world, has some cool enemies and has visually stunning attacks. That alone is enough for the average gamer. Yes, the conversation between the protagonist and Cuff can sometimes be way too much, but that and a somewhat lacking story aside, its a very fun game. Word of advice, dont go past hard difficulty if its your first time playing, the attacks do almost no damage and boss battles can take upwards of 20 real time minutes at that damage output.

10/10, great game, large open world and graphics look crisp and clean. Finished game about 45 hours in, working on platinum trophy now and waiting for upcoming DLC. Story of the game was good, kept me interested the whole way through.

In my opinion this game was great. I didnt have any expectations going in but was pleasantly surprised. The world is beautiful and the combat visually amazing. Parkour is fun and trying to sort certain puzzels using them felt satisfying. The story at its core is great in my opinion. Now sadly its not for everyone, there are down sides as well to what i mentioned. Definitely recommend playing the demo on playstation to see if its your style.

This game goes hard! The people that gave the game low scores must not like action rpgs or not willing to take in a new experience. I know people talked down on the cuff and Frey banter. It’s not the greatest but not the worst. As an entry point to the Franchise it should get Major Kudos! The upgrade system is great along with the combat. People should do the side quest because there are parts of the story that is purposefully put in these quests. The story is great and touching as well. I give the game 9/10 also there is quite a bit left to do after you beat the game cause the map is Huuuuuge!

Great AAA game. If you are expecting God of War Ragnorok or Horizon Forbidden West you will be disappointed. However, This is a new IP and with that you get some good and some bad in this attempt. The reviews do not do it justice. This game is an easy 7.5-8.5 out of 10. The developers made some “rookie mistakes” but once you get past that you have a solid title that brings a lot of fun hours of game play. The best I can say is play it yourself! Most reviewers did not play the entire game in some cases did not play it at all. Traversing the environment and the combat system is excellent. Story has some issues and character development could improve but expected based on new developer. I think I’m put will make their next attempt extraordinary. If you have doubts just wait until there is a sale prior to purchasing this game.

after playing forspoken for almost 40 hours, frey's powers are the powers i would want if i were a superhero. this game makes you feel like you could conquer the world in record time. the speed and ease with which you can traverse the enormous world is satisfying on its own, and when you add the combat to that the game becomes a complete joy. the only downside is that you start out with very few powers and spells, so it takes about 2-3 hours before you really unlock your true potential. if you can make it through the opening act you'll be glad you did. i love the feel of the haptic feedback as i run and jump like some kind of overpowered sonic the hedgehog and face huge hordes of enemies like superman on steroids. this game doesn't deserve the flack its gotten in critical reviews.

I actually like this game. I appreciated that they put a demo out to play before release date. Anyone that didn’t like this game should have already known what they would get. I like the freedom of movement and her acrobatic moves simply look dope. Unfortunately, this game has terrible writing just like a plethora of great successful games. The writing leaves a lot to be desired. I forgive the game for some of the cheese one liners etc. if you’re in the web at all, you’ve already seen the worst of the worst takes. I say give this game a closer look. Some might actually enjoy the gameplay enough that the funny stuff just gets better with age like the film “The Room” lol. Seriously, I bought this day one and I love my steelbook. This girl is cool. She has a problem and it’s that she treats everyone with disrespect and I mean eveyone! That’s all folks. But it on sale. Don’t be one of those people who troll things they’ve never even played.

Granted the $70 price feels excessive and unless you want this now, wait for a sale.
That said, I rather enjoyed it.
Gameplay and Traversal was a lot fun.
Frey as a character given her background and struggles made sense to me and I liked her honestly.
Like I said, if you want to hold off until its more reasonably priced, please do.
But I encourage you to give this game a try when you can.

First of all the game itself is a ton of fun, combat is a lot of fun, traversal is great…if you are a fan of open world action rpgs then this is a must play. But its not without some minor drawbacks..there are frame rate drops in graphically intense scenes throughout the game, not many but they are there. The frame drops are the only draw back hence the 4 out of 5

I don't get the hate people have for this game. The gameplay is really fun, the story is decent, and I like the characters. It also feels like one of the few true PS5 titles. Load times are almost non existent and it runs beautifully in 120 hz mode on my monitor. It's like a solid 7.5/10

Despite what has been said about this game, it's not awful. The story and characters are interesting, and the gameplay is very fun.
The only real downside is that the world itself isn't as interesting. Side quests are mostly fetch quests, but the rewards for exploring the world are cosmetics that have different stats. Another big disappointment are the dungeons. Or what I like to call, giant hallways with a boss at the end.
Overall this game is a fun, but flawed experience that can be fixed in a sequel.
