Customers often highlight the excellent cooling capacity and ease of installation of the 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner. Many appreciate the inclusion of a remote control and find the price reasonable for the performance. However, some customers note that the unit can be noisy, particularly at higher fan speeds. The size is generally considered appropriate for medium-sized rooms.

I purchased this unit after wanting to cool down my living room and kitchen which are about 400 sqft combined. Installation was simple and is better with a helper. The unit fits perfectly and is styleish. It can be loud for those who prefer a quiter unit, but the unit has a strong fan that is much quieter on low but is still able to hurl air far across a room.
I like the economy feature which turns off the unit when the desired temperature is reached. This unit begins to cool as soon as you turn it on. You don't have to wait several minutes to feel cool air. The cooling capacity is superb and the unit cools down a room very quickly.
Since it is very efficient at cooling, the unit produces plenty of condensation which is a sign it is working properly. I ordered a $4 drain kit to connect to a hose so that my unit will not drip down on my neighbors. The unit has an opening underneathe that allows the water to drip out of.
Overall, this unit won't disappoint and cooling is what it is good for.

It's a beast

I picked it up this morning and quickly got it home and installed. Trickiest part of the install was getting the side extenders on, and that wasn't bad at all. This replaced a 5,000 BTU unit, and it's not even fair to compare the two. It started blowing cold air almost immediately after turning it on and quickly cooled down our bedroom. I work nights, and this allowed me to get the best day of sleep I've gotten in months. The only issue I have with it is the rear cooling fins are exposed, so you have to be really careful not to compress them when you are unpacking, moving, and installing the unit. I don't understand why manufacturers pack remotes with these, but it includes one, if that's your bag. Just a small heads up - Best Buy has dual-SKUd this, so the model number you get may not be exactly what's posted (mine was FRA105CV1), but the specs are the same, and I can't tell what the difference is. As others have pointed out, this isn't a quiet unit, but I've never owned a window AC that is.

Not having to screw in the top rail, and side panels is a good thing. Everything slides in securely. Operates a lot quieter than my last AC plus it has many features some ac's this price don't have like air ionizer, clean filter reminder, timer on off..etc.

Great AC for a one bedroom apt. The AC is set up in living room which is between the kitchen and bedroom. The unit is at the window closest to the kitchen and still cools the entire apt including the bedroom!

This is a nice A/C with features that I like: the automatic running, several fan speeds, digital controls, a remote, and additionally this A/C has an ionizer that keeps the air clean.
The downside is that the unit is really LOUD. I've been reading other reviews and it seems other buyers are not finding this problem. I don't know why.
Anyway, I would recommend this EXCEPT for the volume.

We have enjoyed our new ac for about one month. It is used in our living room and seems to keep everyone including my two dogs happy!
