    I'm not disappointed at all

I bought one 12,000 BTU during the heat wave for our sitting room which opens into the kitchen and main entrance. Altogether they measure about 700 sq.ft. I installed it myself and within minutes the rooms were chilled. I was so impressed that I went out the following day to buy 8,000 BTU to replace another brand of the same size in our bedroom. Again it was superb in its cooling effect. It's not as noisy as others' reviews mentioned, which nearly put me off. It has a little humming sound but not that bad. It's energy saver works very well as the AC cuts off when the set temperature is reached. What I don't like about it is the ugly looking standard remote. The design of the remote is not 'cool' at all. Otherwise it's a perfect window AC and has an excellent value for price.

    Great low-cost, high-BTU unit

This is a solid 12,000BTU unit. It cools my entire studio apartment, bathroom and kitchen, even in harsh high-temp weather. The unit's build quality is quite good, as are the timer and sleep functions. I wish it had daytime/nightime setpoints instead. The fan is the only major issue I take with this unit. I wish that the low setting on the fan was actually lower and consequently a quieter setting. The compressor is whisper-quiet (hard to tell when it's running). If only that fan was quiet too.... The rotating louvers may look cute, but you cannot for the life of you aim the airflow straight up. Very annoying. Overall, for the price, a very good product.

Just got this unit to replace the Monster 10000BTU unit I've had for years. Only used it 3 times so far this season but so far the performance has been great. I'm very happy with that this unit it is compact and much easier to move into a window than the behemoth I used to have. Cooling 1st floor approx 800sq' effectively and its relatively quite.

    Good but loud

This unit cools effectively, but it does have some flaws. First there is no sleeve to slide into. This means you will be holding the 60 lb unit from falling out the window until you get the window closed. Important for anyone that feels uneasy about your windows. Get a window bracket. The store I went to did not have any. Second, the vents don't direct the air as well as I hoped. I'd say there is maybe a 45 degree (total) left to right and 20 degree (total) up and down movement. There are 2 separate vents to adjust though. Third, this is loud. Don't get it for a bedroom. Even using the controls, it beeps louder than a microwave. (The box says this is the quietest Frigidaire ever. Yikes!) On the positive sides, it's efficiency is 10.8 and it uses less Amps than comparable units. Also, it is 20 lbs lighter than any of the LG units. A plus when holding it out the window.

Saved our life and electric bill!

It's been brutally hot this summer, and I had two 10 yr. old A/C's in the house. I upgraded to the Frigidaire 12K that I bought from my local Best Buy. I had to wait until they came in and claimed one, since they were flying off the shelves. Setup was a breeze, and this 12K unit cooled down my familiy room and sunroom without a problem. It has been running basically non-stop since I bought it last month, and I was afraid to look at my electric bill. Was I ever wrong! When they say energy star, they mean it! My bill was a fraction of what it would have been had I been using the old A/C's. Thanks, Best Buy!

    great affordable ac

Have a kitchen that opens up into the living room so the area is big. I bought this unit because the reviews on it were decent. The problem I have was the afternoon sun hits the whole left side of the kitchen and living room that is all windows and the rooms heat up real quick in the summer. I took a chance and bought the unit and it is amazing!! Install was easy and cooled my rooms in about 20 minutes. In fact it was getting the rooms so cold that my central AC wasn't kicking on anymore and all my bedrooms were heating up and we couldn't sleep . So I keep it at 76 on the unit so it stays nice a cold in the rooms despite all the sun and heat comming in thru all the windows but still lets the central ac kick on as well. This thing is great for the price!!! I should not have $400 summer electric bills this summer.

My 10 year old swamp cooler finally gave out & with the 107 degree I needed somethin that worked great for a great price. This was it! My house has never been so fresh. Im using it in my 12x24 size living room , all I did was point a fan towards the kitchen & it cools that down as well. Love it! My husband questioned my decision at 1st , he thought I'd be too small, but even loves it. Not the quietest but what do you expect from a window AC?? If the noise bothers you that much leave it on high for a few to cool down then put it on low.

Well we found out recently that our central air unit had finally died so until we can afford to get a whole new HVAC system we decided to go with a window unit on our main floor which is approx 550 sf and with the help of a fan this unit has cooled down two bedrooms, living room (where the unit is located), kitchen and bathroom. We are very pleased with it and would recommend it to friend's and family without hesitation. With the energy star rating on this unit we may not even go back to central air.

My husband and I use this to cool about 800 square feet and it has worked perfectly. On our last electric bill the year to year comparison was significantly lower than this time last year with warmer temperatures. The fan settings and the capability to program the unit make it easier to conserve energy stay cool .

I bought this unit. and placed it in the living room widow (which is middle of my apartment, bedroom in front, kitchen/bathroom in the back) It cool's the Apartment quickly with the help of a small fan to circulate the air. When the air conditioner's fan is on high, you can't hear the TV. Other then that, it's a very good unit.

So this unit replaces a BTU 9000 unit, very old, loud. This one I was worried about since it's bigger and larger. This one is very quiet for the size and I would recommend getting one if you can. This fits in most standard windows. I would advise to put a small piece of wood in the sill to make sure you do not damage your window.

Our central AC went out and we don't have the $5,000 to replace it just yet. It's only the beginning of summer and already we're in a heat wave, with inside temps reaching the mid-90s. After much research, decided our best bet was to install this 12,000 BTU window unit in the living room, which is open to the kitchen, dining room and front room (all open, no walls). It took a full day of running on HI but this unit has cooled this vast space down to 73 degrees. It is the BEST money we've spent in years. Installed in 15 minutes, quiet operation, wise investment. We may never get the central AC fixed now -- no need! An excellent buy, highly recommended.

Workhorse, easy to install, but beeps loudly

I purchased this after reading the other reviews, and pretty much agree with what others have said. My house is about 2300 sq feet, two stories, with about 1150 sq feet on each floor. Some knucklehead replaced our heat pump before we bought the house with a 3-ton unit, but the house is ducted for a 4-ton unit. As a result our heat pump simply cannot keep up during any season and we are either too hot in the summer (especially with 100+ degree weather lately) or too cold in the winter even though it runs 24x7. We couldn't afford to replace the whole heat pump, and opted to put this in our dining/living/kitchen room area, which is all open. The size of our room is 25' x 33' and is the hottest room in the house, easily over 80 degrees in 90 degree weather, and in 100 degree weather it approaches 85 degrees. Of course, since our heat pump runs 24x7 and never cools the house down we have huge electric bills. Installation was a breeze, even though my window required a little modification but that is because it was not tall enough. However, the window I have is about 8" wider that the side baffles, so they were not wide enough to stretch all the way across to seal the opening. I have instead put in a piece of wood on one side of my window, cut to fit, and that is working fine. I am hoping I can find wider side baffles to install. The unit is light enough that my wife and I simply lifted it up into the window and it fit like perfectly. The unit says it requires a 15 amp outlet. In my house, the circuit that we are using is often overloaded and the circuit breaker blows, which I was worried about. No problems with this A/C unit though, so I am thrilled about that! The remote works from quite far away. Every time you make a change the unit beeps to confirm. However, the beep is VERY loud and VERY annoying! There is no way to disable it. The beep is loud enough that you can hear it on the other end of the house (1100 sq feet) with the bedroom doors closed! How does it work? After about 5 minutes the air was blowing VERY cold, far colder than our heat pump. The current is very strong, and blows with quite a good breeze all the way across to the kitchen, the entire 25' , and in fact my wife was complaining that it was now too cold and literally went to put on some warmer clothes! After about 2 hours this little unit had taken the "edge" off of our hot house and the temps dropped to a wonderful 71 degrees, and our heat pump also shut off, the first time all summer. It is a little loud, but it's only slightly louder than the 20" box fan we had running in the living room on high speed. The air ducts cannot be adjusted left/right/up/down very much, but it still cools the place down just fine. The unit has controls on the face as well as the remote which is nice. The auto fan setting is nice, but it does not actually turn the fan off, just the compressor. Therefore, it never shuts all the way off which I think would be nice because then it would at least be quiet some of the time. The "energy" tag on the unit says it will cost around $89 a year to run. if this is the case, and it takes that much a load of my heat pump, I am hoping to save a lot of money on my electric bill this summer. Anyway, all in all it was an EXCELLENT buy at the price.

We have a nice size downstairs about 575 square feet with the living room, bathroom, and kitchen which has an open view to the living room so we needed an air conditioner to take care of all these rooms so we decided on the Frigidaire 12,000 BTU and so far I am very, very happy !!! Within 10 minutes the whole downstairs was cooled by 6 degrees and the remote is very good. I would recommend this brand to all my friends !!

    Great A/C Unit

Been using this A/C for about a month and I'm very happy. Replaced a 5,000 BTU A/C and the new one is lighter and puts out a LOT more air. Temps have been in the low 90's with high humidity the last several days, and this thing keeps up with ease. I havent turned the fan over medium yet :) One last thing, I really like the design of this, more of the unit is inside the house than most others I've seen. It's not in the way at all but balances much better, not pulling on the window as much.

It's doing just fine and it has really had a workout. It was installed on July 5 and July was the hottest July on record. It's on the noisy side, but the literature didn't say it was a quiet unit. But it cools better than our last one which was higher in BTUs.
