Q: Why can't this unit be put in a thru-the-wall opening?
A: Thank you for your question! We apologize for the delay in response. For optimal performance of the unit, we recommend this it be used in a window. Frigidaire also offers a full line of models designed to be mounted in a sleeve installed through-the-wall. The "Through-the-Wall" units must be installed with a wall sleeve and an exterior grille and possible a drain kit to lead away any condensation. Our models come designed to be mounted to these sleeves (our models can fit into any competitor sleeve using an available accessory). A window air conditioner cannot be installed in a wall sleeve in an efficient manner. Also, the window air conditioners "breathe" through the sides of the unit, while a Through-the-Wall, again because of its design only breathes through the back.
