    Good value unit

This unit is a good value, not the lowest price and not the highest priced unit for the size. As with all these floor units they are not as efficient and a little nosier then a window unit but work well if you slider style windows. One of the things making me buy this one was the window unit is longer then many on the market. this one extends to 48' were many only extend to 42'. For a vertical slider window I needed the longer window unit. Central air would be the best but if you are in need of a unit to move around or have sliders for windows as I have these are a good unit for a small room.

    Works Good, Easy to Install

I bought this portable AC unit to replace an older window AC unit for our living room. Setup is easy - unpack unit and connect exhaust hose to window using included mounting hardware. The unit comes with a rather long power cord, so making it to an outlet is easy. It's certainly easier to install than a window air conditioner since no lifting is required and you don't have to worry about mounting a heavy ac unit in the window frame. The unit comes with a full featured IR remote that works well. There is a small LCD on the remote that indicates fan speed, mode, and set temperature. During operation, the unit is pretty quite. Your certainly not going to forget it's running when your in the same room - but it's not distracting. During cool mode, a drain hose is not needed. However, if you want to use it in dry mode you will need to hook up a drain hose via the garden hose connector on the back of the unit. There is a place to store the exhaust hose on the back of the unit when it's not in use for the winter. My only real complaint is that the unit is rather large. It does have wheels, however, for easy moving around the house if you want. The exhaust hose gets rather warm during operation (think warm to the touch, not hot).

Instructions - terrible. Portable - NO

Just because something has wheels does not mean it is portable! As previous reviews have noted, this machine is bulky and not quite portable. The exhaust hose that goes out the window is also large and awkward. The instructions are TERRIBLE. No where in the instructions does it mention the unit leaks water when cooling (instructions only discuss when being used as dehumidifier). Water leaked ALL over the floor. So now we're sweaty AND have to clean up the mess. It is loud, BUT it does cool the room down. That being said, I wish I had bought the window unit!

I threw the box away because I thought this being a Frigidaire would be a great product but it isn't and I was told I can't return it without the box. This was a waste of my money.

I read all these reviews while we were waiting to set up. Agreed with most positive ones and can understand how the negative ones came about even though I disagree. -Installation was harder for me because I have swing open victorian style windows and we cut a piece of ply wood to make up the difference. Yes, the "exhaust" tube is a little fussy but we had no probs at all. -Cools fantastically! OMG. We live in an attic apartment and its always 15 degrees hotter and 10 percent more humidity. It was 90 outside yesterday. We turned the air conditioner on and after 5 minutes our bedroom was cool. I had turned it down to 62 because of our heat issues and I was actually cold this morning, had a comforter on and everything! -Noise, I dont know what anyone is talking about. Its the same loudness of a normal fan on high or any air conditioner. No its not whisper quiet but its not loud by any means!

I bought this ac thinking it was going to be a good product and it was not. It takes way to long to cool down the area and it needs to be on lowest temp.

We live in a condo without central AC on the third floor and it gets unbearably hot in summer and this summer has been the hottest on record. We walked into Best Buy and right at the entrance they had this unit hooked up blowing ice cold air and we stopped dead in our tracks, looked at each other and said, "Why don't we have this?" It was an instant purchase. We had it hooked up in minutes. We have a horizontal sliding window so it doesn't close all the way and the vent kit is not tall enough vertically so we have to tape some cardboard above the plastic vent kit. Also the tabs on the vent hose connector break off WAY too easy. Duct tape is your friend. It has kept our condo comfortable and cool since we first turned it on. We can't believe we have ever lived without it. We can now sleep comfortably at night. The unit is a little noisy and the compressor makes a slight rattle like a refrigerator which can be somewhat distracting if you are watching TV but considering how comfy and cool it has made the place I don't mind a little noise. It sure beats having a noisy window fan. We got the 2 year maintenance plan on it. Hopefully it will cover the compressor. We did notice a big spike in our electric bill about $30 last month so keep that in mind.

    A Good Recommendable unit overall

I purchased this unit in the midst of a record heat wave, breaking into triple digit temperature, yesterday just before they ran out at the store. The assembly of the window installation kit is not as straight forward as the manual says and needs a lot of tinkering efforts and ingenuity. The plastic duct does not fit snugly to the adaptor cap at both ends and the slider keeps gliding out of place whenever you fit it against the window frame. A little duct tape and a small screw solve all these annoyance but I must admit it is no easy task for the novice. After this huddle, it is just turning the unit ON and let it hum its way through the night. The unit does its job of keeping my room, 600+ square feet, to a very tolerable temp that enables us a good night’s sleep despite the outside temp is in the 80’s with high humidity. Yes, the compressor and the fan motor is noisily as some reviewers say, but this still beats suffocating in the heat of the night.

Cools quick, loud, very difficult to put together

This is my first portable AC. I bought this because I live alone and wasn't up to fighting with a window unit and possible hurting myself in the process. First, the unit is big, heavy, and very loud. Not a big deal though because it works very well, so I can live with that. My biggest issue with this unit is the instalation process. The directions are terrible! They want you to screw the ends of the exaust hose to the unit and to the piece which connects to the window. After 3 hours of stress, sweat and frustration last night, I it to stay together, although not for long because I just had to fight with it again. I have a feeling this process of instilation is far from over. If I had known what I know now I would have taken my chance with a window unit. It would have been a lot less money as well!

Good solution if you can't put the AC in a window.

The blower for the evaporator(blows the cool air) stays on all the time and is not that loud. When the compressor comes on the condenser fan comes on(blows hot air out of the house) and between them all it is loud. I sized the unit correctly and installed it well, so the compressor and condenser fan do not run all the time. Since I couldn't use a window unit in my finished basement this was my only option. I think the portable unit is well made and easy to install. It can also serve as a dehumidifier. I would recommend this to anyone who can't or doesn't want to use a window unit. FYI you still need to exaust the hot air out a window when using it in AC mode. Hardware for this is included.

I live in Ohio and we are currently without power (and will be for another 5-7 days) due to a storm. We have a generator, but it won't support our central air unit. With outside temps reaching 94 I had to do something. I read all the reviews on this unit, purchased it from BB, installed it within 15 minutes and It works great. I have it plugged into the generator to cool down the Master bedroom and within 15 minutes...the room was cooled down and everyone was happy. I feel that the unit is easier to install than a standard window air conditioner. It's on wheels so I can just push it into a closet once the power is restored. It will be great to keep around for the next power outage or just in case anything should ever happen to the central air unit.

    Unit great, exhaust setup complicated

The unit itself is wonderful - it cools the entire downstairs of a small 2-story house within 30 minutes, on the low fan setting. The problem is the exhaust hose setup. The hose will not stay attached to the unit. Duct tape only works until the heat from the unit weakens the adhesive, and then the hose falls off again. We fought with it for 3 days, then called Customer Care. It was a Saturday, so I got India. The rep simply could not comprehend that the unit was designed in such a way as to be unuseable out of the box - she insisted we had a defective product needing replacement. I don't want it replaced, the new one would have the same problem. The rep asked for the store where it was bought and then asked for the "Saddystaht" of the store. Huh? She meant City, State. After an hour on the phone with the rep, I gave up. We finally just wired the hose to the unit, over the duct tape, and that seems to be working, so we'll keep it. But a new product should not be that difficult to set up.

We bought this unit for our cabin to cool the main living space. The unit is rather large and noisy, but was well worth the cool air coming out of it. We were able to tolerate the 90+ degree heat and humidity and all agreed that this was a brilliant purchase!

    When properly installed - GREAT!

OK, some of the reviews rate this unit poorly. It is obvious that these reviewers did not install the unit properly. The unit is designed to pull heat out of the air and send the hot air out of the exhaust. The exaust must be directed out of the room that you are trying to cool. I think some of the reviewers need to look at the directions a bit closer. I purchased this unit as a backup for a computer server room. We had trouble with our existing HVAC system and needed a cooling system to act as a back-up just incase the main system fails again (a good investment to potentially save $100,000 in computer hardware). We are going to purchase another unit to cool and dehumidify a powder coat storage room to keep the powder dry. All-in-all, good investment. And, I think it would do very well in a 12x9 bedroom. Good luck everyone, and don't forget to read those directions!!

So I read all kinds of negative and positive reviews. I almost did not buy this because of that. But if I was not happey with the product, BBY would let return it. So I bought it. took about 15 mins to set-up. Now as far as duct tape on the air hose, come on folks, did you not read the directions right. You have to pull the end og the hose out FULLY, and SCREW (twist) the ends on the hose. Once that is done correctly there is no way it will come off. If you are taping it on, then you did not screw it on. As far as it cooling, it did the job quickly. The noise to me is not an issue, no wrose than window air conditioners I have had. all in all, I would say that this is a great product for the application I wanted it for and would recommend buying, and use care when putting it together.

So this is my first air conditioner I've ever bought. I wasn't really sure what to buy and I really only got it because it was the only floor unit they had at Best Buy and the guy working told me it was the kind that didn't have the hose you connect to the window. That being said, I still installed it with the hose and everything. It was a little tricky to get the hose in the wall slider, but after reading some other reviews of other units I'm glad I don't have to worry about the hose falling out. Its really securely in there. The unit is a little loud, but if you put it on auto its only loud in the beginning, then it quiets down. Its actually quieter on auto than it is on the low setting. Where I am its about around 90 in the afternoons during the summer, so if its hotter than that I'm not sure how it'll sound. Sometimes if I'm listening to something I downloaded from the internet on my MacBook, the unit will drown out the sound, but not if I'm listening to something from iTunes or anything with professional sound quality. I'm not really an expert on portable a/c units but I hope my observations help :)

I have only had the unit about a month, but it has performed better than I expected, the unit arrived quickly and as described. It was easy to unpack and set up. The unit is fairly large, but portable from room to room. It produces nice, cold air with a moderate amount of noise and I have never had to empty it, we keep it at 70 which feels pretty good when its 105 outside, it took 10 minutes to cool my 12x12 room. I would recommend this to you.

This air conditioner works great, it cools the room nicely but it is a little loud and the piece that goes to the window does fall out easily. But overall I love it. The settings are great, many different settings and can set a constant temperature.
