Was this a bargain! I paid like $5 for one of the greatest films of all time, in a beautiful production. Crisp and clean visuals, great sound, just a marvel. A little light on extra features compared to other packages, but that definitely won't detract from someone who just wants to enjoy this masterpiece of a war movie on its own merits.

This blu-ray played on my 4K TV = no need for 4K disc! GORGEOUS picture and sound! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this feature on our humble system.

Real 4k, not an upscale. This is basically two different films, the first half where they are in training and then the second half when they are shipped off to Vietnam. The first half is arguably better than the second but they're both entertaining. Decent extras, pretty good looking steelbook.

R. Lee Ermey was a Marine drill instructor during his tenure in the Corps, making for the best Marine Corps bootcamp scene in any movie. The movie primarily follows Private Joker with a series of interwoven vignettes. It is a look into Vietnam, and the struggles of wartime, to keep yourself and your comrades alive.

Great addition to my Steelbook collection. Love this movie and they did a terrific job on the 4K remaster. Clearest I have ever seen it, probably clearer than when I saw it in the theater. As rough as boot camp seems in this movie, it still didn't stop me from joining 2 years later. LOL.

I joined the Army in 1972. This film captured the times, including the violence, the conflicts, and the politics. The 4k restoration is good, although there is significant film grain in some scenes. Worth the upgrade. Definitely one of the best of the Vietnam movies.

This is really cool! I recommend this to anyone who likes this movie. I do however wish they added some kind of tribute to the late “R. Lee Ermey” in the artwork, he was the one actor that helped make this movie into a big success and helped make it so memorable.

A master piece! This borderlines on part truth during the vietnam war and made up group of soldiers going through boot camp. This 4k version is totally worth it, colors look realy good and natural and sound is mixed really well.

Full Metal Jacket is one of my favorite war films ever and to have it on blu-ray dvd for the highest quality sound and picture was a must for me. Seeing it again reminded me why I liked it so much the 1st time and filled me with satisfaction to now have it in the best quality available for a film with lots of action (explosions, gunfire and general warfare) in it.

This was a movie to see if you ever wondered what happened to our children (as young adults) thru boot camp & the viet nam conflict. Even though the didn't show what happened to them when they came home, but did cover a lot during the conflict. I lost my Brother due to this but I still loved this movie & will forever remember that conflict. A must see movie!

Most people will just blind buy a release like this because this is a Kubrick classic ok so that is what I did. I really don't care how you package a Kubrick movie, just release it. I needed the 4K digital copy and like a dope redeemed it without looking into how to redeem it and I got hosed. Don't redeem into Vudu or you will only get HDX , not UIHD. My bad . The art is cool as we see the reflection of the movie in Jokers shades.

Managed to get the last one in my store! It’s such a great movie made by an absolute genius. The artwork on this steelbook is fantastic. I’m so glad I got it! Thanks Best Buy for continuing to create such beautiful editions!

This film satirically displays the Vietnam war era. It shows firsthand how the regiment trains for the war. And it shows how impossible it was to reach a conclusion on the vietnam war. This war was bringing down the morale of America. This effect was shown in the battle sequence in which nobody won.

This is probably one of the best looking steelbooks releases ever! Great movie looks and sounds better than ever! No new extras on this new release that does suck but overall a great pick up if you’re a Steelbook collector.

This DVD presents an honest look at the Marine Corps Boot Camp Basic Training leading up to serving in the Vietnam War; and, an intimate look at the individual struggles each combat soldier faced in war. I'm a Vietnam Veteran and had disabling injuries in 1971, and think this is a GREAT movie!

In basic training they tell it like it was! Having been in the army during this time, but never in Viet Nam, it brought back a lot of memories. Although a lot of this did not happen to be, similar things did and others happened in other companies. The Viet Nam action is truly great!

This looked very good in 4K, a war classic from the legendary Stanley Kubrick. The picture quality and HDR shine in the second half of the film. The only issue I had was the 5.1 audio mix was overblown and the mono track not being lossless. However, the mono track sounds very good. If you are going to watch the movie, watch it with that audio track. Steelbook casing looks nice.

The dry and vulgar humor within a war movie was one of the first and this movie is timeless! Glad this was decided to bring this to 4K and I’m very happy with yet another steelbook purchase only found at Best Buy!

Classic movie and looks phenomenal on 4K. The steelbook design and make are fantastic, as it seems very well made. I love the movie, and definitely recommend this steelbook for any avid fan of the classic film.
