Best Fast & Furious Film Yet!

This is a must see film for both fans of the franchise or for those who have never seen any of the films. What makes this film special is the fact that lead actor Paul Walker passed away before the film was finished shooting. However, through the use of CGI and with the help of his two brothers filling in as Paul's doubles, they were able to complete the film and include a warm send-off into the sunset for their dear friend (and brother) Paul Walker.

By pre-ordering i was able to watch it on UltraViolet 2 weeks before it was released on dvd. The movie is the same Fast and Furious we've all come to know and love...the only difference is even more stars.

Not worth the 4k & DTS-X in this title.

Pros: The movie itself especially being Paul’s last. Digital cover. Slipcover Cons: Seems as if the 4k was auto generated transfer instead of being shot in 4k. The problem with these F&F soundtracks is that there’s too much overlapped sounds & can’t distinguish the DTS-X effects. Almost no over head effect. You have music tracks, movie score, bangs etc all at once that makes it sound all washed up & that’s in a calibrated 11.2 (7.2.4) system! The 8th part was an improvement. No steel cases like previous releases.

Who doesn't like the fast and the furious series. Too bad it's the last one for paul walker. I think they did a solid for him in this film. Still very sad at the end.

I've got nothing but praise for this movie. Here we are, the seventh film in to a long running franchise and it just happens to be one of the best, one of the most unique and one of the most creative yet. Throughout the Fast and Furious series, the franchise has slowly grown from its humble beginnings as an undercover cop film that featured street racers and fast cars to something bigger and more bombastic with each new entry. No complaints from this guy either. I've loved the ride. Furious 7 to me is the most "blockbuster" film of the series to date. I honestly don't think this movie was any less exciting or "big" than any Marvel movie I've seen except for maybe Avengers and Winter Soldier. It was a huge movie, even more ambitious than the 6th which I thought was extremely ambitious in its own right. This has instantly become one of my favorites in the series easily on Par with #1 and #5 my other two favorites. I also wanted to say what I thought about the Paul Walker situation. The way his character is handled in this film is nothing short of brilliant. I know the film was only half finished when he passed away, but you would never know it. The character "Brian" has no less screen time than he has always had. And keeping this spoiler free, the way they handled writing him out of further movies was straight up brilliant, touching and moved at least this guy to tears. Honestly. It was a tragedy that Paul Walker died so young and his unfortunate passing must have created a huge problem for the production of this film that could've ended up leaving it a complete disaster. Luckily that was not the case. I would love to shake the hands of everyone involved in making this movie for the way that they handled Paul's passing and finishing the filming with his character still completely intact. It was an outstanding tribute to an integral player in this franchise and an actor taken before his time. I'm sure it was not an easy undertaking. The creative team behind this film all deserve all the kudos in the world for the most respectful send off of Paul Walker they could have possibly come up with. I'm sure his family and friends would be proud, as would he.

Watching action movies on 4K is a lot better. Got this on a sale price which makes even more satisfying. I would definitely recommend switching to 4K, especially action packed movies like this one.

If you've seen the first installment of The Fast And The Furious franchise, you'd get my review's title is referencing a plot point from it, basically the award given to the winner of a race. Starting with the 5th installment, the series mixed up it's "parts" to consist of a movie that doesn't take itself seriously and contains action sequences so over-the-top they'll have you laughing while astounded by the impressive nature of them. However, this is not your average "popcorn flick", because James Wan, a renowned genre filmmaker, has crafted a film that (dare I say) is the best installment in the series. Not only is it a thrilling ride on the surface, but surprisingly features many subtle thought-provoking allusions to real life events. I.e. The War In Iraq, critiqing the US's hunger for oil in the Middle East, the NSA and the Patriot Act, even criticizing the laws surrounding Drone Strikes (particularly on United State's soil). The acting from the cast is for the most part what you'd expect from a typical action film, however their were some exceptional perfromances from certain cast members near the end regarding Paul Walker's character (most notably Jordana Brewster on the phone with Paul and also Vin Diesel when he breaks the "fourth wall" at the end of the film). As per usual with the series, the inspirational theme regarding family, like making sure to always love family members through thick and thin and to always help a family member in their time of need. In fact, the scenes surrounding memory loss with Michelle Rodriguez's character, hit close to home for me personally, because I interpreted them as her trying to cope with a mental disorder (like depression) and Vin Diesel's character supporting her throughout (just like a family member should do to support a person suffering from depression). Don't let that part of the film deter you with its serious nature, because it's a very miniscule part and for the most part the tone relies on the comedic relief supplied throughout. In conclusion, it's a great film and even if you've never been a fan of the series, it's a great intro to beginners. As for this product I bought from Best Buy, the Steelbook is wonderful, and the artwork beautiful. It matches perfectly with the 6 other Fast And Furious Steelbooks that Best Buy released. I highly recommend it to anyone and it'd make a great gift to that car fanatic in your life.

The video and sound quality alone is leaps and bounds better than the DVD or Blu-Ray versions of this film. However, there is a bit of graininess is a number of scenes which makes me wonder if this was even shot in native 4K. Various parts of the film seem like they have been upscaled to UHD.
