Not current, therefore not that helpful

I bought this for a motoring trip through Ireland (Aug 2010). The information was not current with some new roads (but neither was a print road atlas from a well-known company) and as a result of believing the Garmin early in our trip, I ended up somewhat lost and burnt up about an hour just getting to main road. Basically, I couldn't rely on the info provided. I did find it helpful in keeping me on the primary road as it illustrated the primary road in one color and other roads in other color, so when I got to a ambiguous fork in a road, I went with the Garmin info - in this application, it never sent me the wrong way. It also helped in roundabouts (announcing, "Take 2nd exit in roundabout).

    Terrible Product

We just returned from 2 weeks in Ireland and after the first week I went back to using paper maps. The Garmin was virtually worthless!! - on several occasions I thought the buildings looked familiar and found that the device had us going around in circles when I expanded the map. - once it told us to go the wrong way on a one way street. - on 2 occasions it directed us to dead end streets that were several miles from our destination. - most of the roads in Ireland are marked by route numbers. Garmin tells you street names that are very hard to find and about 50 % of the time did not match the name on the sign. -if you are entering the name of a destination it must be exactly as Garmin has it listed. If it is missing a letter it will not find the location. - on one occasion at an intersection it told us to turn both ways!! I am going to try to get a refund but have little hope of that occurring.
