Some great information, very low production values

My family just got into the "sport" of geocaching about a month ago. When we first started I used a $10 app for my iPhone and thought "If we are still doing this and enjoying it in 30 days I will invest in a dedicated Outdoor GPS". Well, it's just over a month later and we are logging out 50th find this afternoon. After extensive research and insescent pestering of a couple of geocaching buddies I narrowed the selection down to the Dakota 20. While price comparing on a few websites this DVD popped up and I thought, "Excellent. I'm a visual learner. This will be a great tool to help me learn how to use my new toy". I was half right. The information contained in the DVD is excellent. There are chapters dedicated to almost all aspects of use on the Dakota 10 and 20. While explaining the steps involved they use an actual Dakota unit for demonstration purposes and of course, you can pause, rewind, stop and start as much as you want without bothering the 'instructor". There are some things about the disc that bother me though. The host is not exactly the most engaging of people. He is very laid back and a little wooden in his delivery. If you have fond memories of sitting on your grandfather's lap and being told stories until you fell asleep you may enjoy him a lot more than I did. I also had an issue with some of the production. At one point during a series of instructions the "hand" working the Dakota pressed a wrong button and the word "error" appeared on the screen and the user hit the back button and corrected their mistake. Why not just reshoot the scene correctly? I guess these are small concerns, but they bothered me to the point where I had to watch the section a second time because my concentration got broken and I was pulled from the experience. It may take a couple of attempts, but the information is excellent. It just seems that with a little more effort on the producers's part the entire experience would have been much better overall.
