It's an upgrade for ne. Have a couple of devices with no traffic alerts. This one has it, but a little different than I'm accustom to.

Easy to setup. Love the extra features it offers. The live traffic helps a lot when traveling long distances.

This GPS is the boss. I needed one with unlimited up dates and the screen is great at showing me the way.

Upon receipt, everything on GPS was in Spanish. After several atempts to switch to English, ultimately had to contact tech services to accomplish. Without contacting them, there iwas no other instruction / assistance available to switch. Device is not easy to navigate / operate.

. Replaced my Navigon 2100 Max with out-dated maps. This Garmin Drive 50LMT has similar basic features, plus a few more, and is fairly intuitive to learn. The Lane Assist and Junction View were "must have" features after being spoiled with the Navigon's similar features. I do wish there were more Junction View photos available. When Junction View photos are not available (quite often), the smaller displayed Lane Assist function appears to be adequate. I did not want to use my mobile phone for traffic updates, and the 50LMT includes the appropriate power / antenna cable. Although I know using a smart phone, paired with a supported GPS device (not this one), will provide superior real time traffic updates. I'm a big fan of the Driver Awareness features and alerts. Keeps me updated and my speed in check. I especially like the School Zones alerts that I will admit I normally don't pay as much attention as I should. (If that feature saves me only one traffic ticket, then it pays for the device.) I didn't realize this unit has a Portrait Orientation view option. Once found, it does comes in handy when I grab-and-go to use in my wife's car. Just sit it upright in in one of the trays for a short local location. Nice! The one major limitation is the very short battery life and the reason I only gave it 4-Stars. I can only use about 20 minutes before it auto shuts down. I do have the screen brightness maxed out during the day. In comparison, my 9 year old Navigon, at full brightness, still runs over 1.5 hrs before requiring a recharge. Now Garmin advertises "up to 1 hr battery life", and I guess 20 mins does meet that statement? Also this device appears to drain the battery when not in use and turned off, not just in standby mode, but off (hold down power button for about 10 seconds). If I could get a full hour of use without the power cable, then I would be a very satisfied customer and this would be rated 5-Stars. I can only surmise Garmin is trying to keep the size, weight, and price-point down using batteries that meet those design specs. Oh well... Overall, for the price paid (deal of the day), it meets my current GPS requirements when used with the power cable and hopefully will be as useful and lasts as long as my Navigon GPS device that still works although with outdated maps.

Wrote a long review explaining the many negatives of buy this unit and and it did not go thru. So to make it short if you buy this product you will be frustrated. Garmin is no longer my to go to of GPS units. I'm returning after just one week of use, any longer and I would toss it out the car window. If you buy it don't say you weren't warn. Good luck if you do.
