Great GPS, poor battery life

Excellent GPS, the only reason I rated it 4-stars is the poor battery life. That said, the unit works great, traffic alerts can be very helpful if you're traveling on the big roads (interstates, turnpikes, etc.). Another very welcome feature is the app you can download to your phone. The app allows you to input your destination, much easier than pecking your address into the unit itself. Large screen makes it very easy to glance at and see your route when you're coming to a turn or ramp, etc.

Garmin is the GPS that you want! I've had Magellan and TomTom, they were okay, but not as good as Garmin.
We travel a lot. We rent cars and full-size pickup trucks from Enterprise/Avis; this works with every vehicle.
This Garmin is great; it helps you plot out your route. Like all GPS or Escort Radar Detectors, you may have challenges with the suction cup. Sometimes it falls off Be sure to mount it very low on your windshield, so that if the cup falls off the thing won't drop too far.
My only minor gripe is the cigarette lighter power cord. A lot of cars don't come with cigarette lighters anymore; you may need a USB adapter. I wish that Garmin included a USB plug with it. Make sure you have the correct plug in your car, before you buy it.
* When traveling, I still suggest using a road map or Bing map on the internet, to make certain of your intended route. Then let Garmin take you to your destination!

This GPS makes me very happy. The feature that I like the most is that if the route the GPS comes up with you can modify it to eliminate streets or roads that you don't want to go down. It is also large enough and bright enough that I can easily see everything clearly at a normal distance with my 73 year old eyes. I also have purchased the Garmin backup camera that operates through this GPS and they work great together.

Very good GPS that is able to understand verbal commands pretty well. Easy to read the map and understand its commands Gives warning in advance of turns in plenty of time to prepare. Only negative, the where you’ve been feature is not visible without opening the app and date. This makes it difficult to backtrack a previous route.

I had an old Tom Tom that could no longer be updated. I told the wife it was time to get a new one. After looking at several we decided on the Garmin DriveSmart 65. The menu's are very easy to navigate and the screen is very easy to see. I like that it gives distances to small town in between your destination and that it also gives an audible sound when the speed zone changes. Did I mention the LARGE SCREEN. I really like this one better than the TomTom and the optional pieces such as the mounts are really nice and reasonable. Best Bang for the Buck for this old boy!!

I love Garmin. I know everyone has a phone and uses a map app but the screen is so small. I really like the pictures that appear when traveling in an unfamiliar area. I have GPS in my car but the cost to update it was as much as the Garmin with lifetime updates AND traffic. It came in handy when traveling to other states and renting cars. I wish they would come up with a better suction holder though. I purchased something else to hold it. Great features also include directions with landmarks, driver alerts and link to TripAdvisor.

Easy to use. Provides accurate, meaningful guidance in highway splits and multiple ramps. Screen is large enough to provide easy viewing for aging eyes. Good value when on sale.

The price was OK however I took it on my first trip to California and it would not reroute me to less traffic. I had my Google app on and it moved me. Also, it doesn’t show traffic lights. it is a great size. You’re able to connect to your device. The other thing it keep sending me notifications of items on my phone. A little annoying.

Larger screen, very clear, shows buildings, etc giving a good idea of where you are. All the features you need, delays, speed, arrival time and more than I can remember. This was an upgrade from the Garmin we had for some years and we are very pleased with and would recommend it.

Great graphics and voice directions. Leaps and bounds better than older versions. Can see what's ahead when traveling (gas stations, restaurants). Able to customize your route to avoid problem areas. Recommend printing off the online manual to get best use of the Garmin. Some features hard to understand until you use the Garmin for a while. The more you use it, the easier it is to navigate the different features. Better than phone navigation apps because of the enhanced graphics (highway signs, speed limit notification, lane recommendation, etc.) Updates via wi-fi instead of connecting to your computer.

Used too buying the 5 inch models. But this was on sale so purchased and very happy. Easy to read and the slight updated features really rounded out this model. I used my phone for gps as well as my other garmin. Nice thing about a dedicated unit is that my phone can be left for other things. The inclusion of lifetime map updates is a plus not like car gps devices or radios with built in gps you have to pay for upgrades which is a rip off. The nicest feature is update over wifi and not tethered to my pc so ABOUT TIME GARMIN.

This new Garmin replaced one that just stopped working after about three years. Because I had the extended warranty, I only had to pay for the extended warranty on the new Garmin. I love the large screen which is easy to read. The "voice" is normally muted, so it's important that I can glance at the screen to see where I should go. So far, I really like my new navigator. :)

We are replacing an older Garmin and this one by far exceeds all of my expectations. The larger size is great as we have a larger vehicle that fits this perfectly. The Bluetooth and voice assistance are wonderful and easy to use. Sometimes does not pick up what I am saying, but that could be the Deep Southern Accent :)

Set up was easy; the mount is especially simple: it is easy to remove and remount so you don't have to leave it on the dashboard when the vehicle is unattended. This was a replacement for a Magellan RoadMate which I really liked, but died after over 6 years of use. The screen is large and easy to read, and the secondary screen also has an elevation readout that I came to like on the old RoadMate. The voice interface may take some getting used to since it seems to have a limited vocabulary and method of response, but it does work. Map update took a long time though.

Compared to older model that we updated from this unit is excellent. Faster satellite connection, bigger screen and more on screen info is a great improvement. Live traffic updates using the app is a great help especially driving through the cities.

Driving through national parks in Canada (Banff and Jasper) and in Washington (Mt. Rainier and Olympic), where mobile phone connectivity is spotty or non-existent, this Garmin GPS was exceptionally reliable. The directions and maps were excellent even in backroads (to reach lakes and canyons deep inside the parks). We were thankful we purchased this GPS unit before heading out on our trips.
Beep warnings on changes in speed limit, approaches to residential areas/railroads/curves, including in cameras installed at traffic lights, were very helpful.
