This replaced a Garmen Drivesmart 50. The improvements made are not only the higher resolution larger screen but the software is markedly better Just got back from a 5.2k trip in the motorhome covering 11 states and i give this new model 5 stars. One of the nice chages was the abilty to Bluetooth my phone for traffic updates while not receiving calls. My old unit would allow you to turn off the call function but would revert back after being powered down.

I have depended on Garmin gps devices for many years now (this is my third) and my first DriveSmart model. I love that I can update it wirelessly, the ability to glance at incoming text messages, and having access to hands-free phone service. Most of all, I love the larger screen (increasingly important the older I get)! Most folks I know seem to use direction apps on their phones, these days. Please join me in imploring Garmin to continue their DriveSmart gps products for those of us (I know I’m not alone) who prefer them!!

This is a great “smart” GPS for road trips or if you want to offload your phone and have a separate device. Large screen size, touch screen and user friendly. Easy to setup and works flawlessly. Garmin is a quality brand. Would recommend for the price.

The Drive Smart 65 was purchased to replace an older Gar=min Nuvi that was nine years old. The Drive Smart is a huge improvement over the Nuvi. Bigger screen and better navigation features Used it for the first time a few days ago on a trip that was over two hundred miles and was impressed at the navigation prompts. Instead of just instructing to turn at an intersection the prompt said turn at the traffic light. Where we were heading there were multiple turns with more than one street intersecting and it was easier to turn on the correct intersection. Looking forward to using the Drive Smart for future road trips.

Decided to buy a gps since I’m traveling more. The gps software works well and is accurate but it doesn’t match up to my iPhone apps. The wifi works well and updating was a breeze. The Bluetooth is reliable and pairs with my phone quickly. The volume is loud but could be a bit louder. The 7 in screen is easy to mount and see. Is it perfect , no but it does the job.

My wife had always had issues with our old GPS system. this one is large, clear and very easy to use. She is able to get texts on it as well so she can see them without having to use her phone. This is a great unit

I purchased the Garmin blue tooth device for a senior citizen that is 80 +. He had a car with no navigation system. He drove to visit my mom in Texas from New Jersey and was lost and traveled out of the direction many times on his way trying to use a paper map. I purchased the device before he drove back to New Jersey and he did not get lost at all. His route traveled was the shortest. He is not technically savvy but was able to easily operate the device. He had a senior cell phone and the store was able to make the connection with it to the Garmin device.

Outstanding GPS. This unit has many more options than other Garmin units I’ve owned. The screen size is ideal and much easier to read. I absolutely love the weather feature.

The system sound is good. The GPS has a large screen. The voice command is a bit wonky- it can take many tries to get it right or it may never get it right. The full features are only available if you have a smart phone (which I told the salesperson my dad did not have). The Initial update would not work via WiFi.

After years (decades?) of “fiddling around” with smartphone apps, I have come to find that this dedicated road navigator is an excellent device. For starters, it offers more screen “real estate”: it’s large enough to see from long distances, yet small enough to fit onto the windshield of all but the smallest of vehicles, as well as into a pocket, glove compartment, or purse. In addition, it is far more customizable than the smartphone apps, and allows destination location via geo-coordinates. In all, I found it to offer a more seamless user experience. I have zero regrets.

SO MANY THINGS THIS GARMIN-DRIVESMART 65 & TRAFFIC DOES: SIDE NOTES TO LET YOU KNOW OF DELAYS, TRIP SAVER ALT ROUTE, TRAFFIC AHEAD WARNING AND PLENTY OF TIME TO AVOID IT, GRAPHICS SHOWS BUILDINGS, COOL. MUCH MORE. STILL LEARNING ALL THE NEAT STUFF PACKED IN THIS. I LOVE ELECTRONIC GADGETS. I AM 65 YEARS OLD AND DID NOT HAVE ANY OF THIS GROWING UP! YOU ARE LUCKY.

This is the greatest GPS I have used! It connects to you phone via bluetooth and then will give you live traffic, live weather for your current position as well as your destination, and it will generate a live weather map so you can see the path of any bad weather. I am a utility locator and I drive four to six hours out of the day. I'm about to put my entire route into the GPS in the morning from start to finish which can be as many as forty stops. It is easy to change the route as well if something comes up along the way and you need to rearrange. I've been telling everyone about it! Great Purchase!

the best of standalone GPS and smartphone GPS in 1

The best Garmin I have ever owned (and I have owned many generations of them). It's fast, it has a huge screen, and the years of refinement show. You get all the benefits of a standalone GPS but now finally, you get the benefits of a smartphone GPS. The biggest problems with Garmins previously were the POIs (or points of interest) and the search function. And I'll list traffic as a secondary problem. But now this Garmin model actually comes with a fantastic companion smartphone app that provides all the benefits of a smartphone. The search function for the app is nearly as good as Google which is a huge complement. You search and hit go and it sends the destination quickly to the Garmin. It's rock-solid. Anyone who uses the search function built into the Garmin knows it's not very good. It's wonderful for addresses but traditionally, the search function for businesses was terrible (partly because it wasn't good at partial searches and partly because it depended on Foursquare which is awful compared to Google). But the new smartphone search function cannot be Foursquare. It must be Google or Bing because it has a much larger database and because it's more accurate. Also, now you have very quick updating of traffic conditions because of the smartphone link. You always have the option of Garmin's previous traffic options such as HD traffic so they come in handy as a backup when you go into areas where cellular reception may be spotty. The new traffic updating is so good that I suspect they may be using Google data.

Was thinking I made a bad choice after I bought it. But I have nothing bad to say about it. Works great with your phone shows traffic times if its delayed or free flow of traffic. Easy to operate. Glad I bought it!

Had to replace an existing Garmin unit and when this one was on sale I decided to go for it. I couldn't be happier. The bigger screen and graphics are amazing. A big step up from what I had. I travel for business a lot and so far over the last few weeks and several thousand miles, this unit has been perfect and right on with directions. My only complaint would be that it wants to shut down a few times because of heat which never happened with my other unit.

The DriveSmart 65 & Traffic GPS replaced my older Garmin which stopped powering up (I think due to a bad electrical connection). Light year update with a much expanded library and more accurate GPS addresses. The larger screen makes it easier to use of course and the 3D building images are a plus. I'm able to locate specific businesses by using voice command and so far the unit directs the vehicle right to the proper physical location. Highly recommended.
