You need to be outside to connect to satellite in order to update and set up the unit. Instructions do not tell you this. You have to set up your home address in order to orientate the unit to where you live. This is bad as someone using your device will know where you live. It has difficulty in locating addresses you input. Both operating system and maps need to be updated. It does a good job routing you, once you get it set up. There is virtually no battery storage to operate it when not connected to a power source.

I used it on a highway trip and it was fine but the data base for local retail and restaurants is poor. I looked up well established stores and the Garmin had no info.

Not as good as my last Garmin. It takes me on routes that are more complicated and loses connection with my cell phone and says to see the app which does not exist.

When functioning properly, it's a great asset to have. Furnishes a wealth of travel information and guidance. The only glitch is it oftentimes takes an overly-long time to "acquire satellites." Ten minutes or more. Very disappointing. Suppose I had very high expectations.

Started out by not being able to locate the address of my destination. Then is said that the major highway that runs north to south on the east coast was "closed". It was not. Then it tried to send me 2 hours out of my way as a detour. Eventually, it took me off major roads and dumped me in a bad part of New York City where I was lost for hours after dark. A nightmare for an old wo man traveling alone. If you can't trust it's directions, what good is it?

Great device. Lots of new features. The Trip Advisor is a little limiting though.
Sorry to hear you've experienced this. I recommend looking for available updates on your device. We release map updates free of charge multiple times per year. Having said that, we always encourage drivers to stay alert to road signs when navigating.

The audio is so low, you can not hear it. I adjusted volume controls all to maximum and it made no difference. I am very disappointed with this purchase.
Audio shouldnt be so low that you cannot hear it. Although audio performance can depend on the type of vehicle/environment its being used in. Lets discuss further to work towards a solution for you. Visit us at support.garmin.com.
