Customers are saying

Customers recognize the exceptional battery life and reliable GPS functionality of the fēnix® 3 HR Smartwatch. Many appreciate its accurate heart rate tracking and durable build, although some find the screen brightness and size to be drawbacks. Positive feedback also highlights its extensive features and water resistance. However, the price point is a common concern for some customers.

Fenix 3 HR Does It All

This Garmin Fenix 3 HR does everything I wanted it to and then some. It is packed with features on board including heart rate monitor which appears to be very accurate. Bluetooth connection to my phone is very good and the app is very good as well. Lots of flexibility for you to set it up how you like. The charge last about 2 weeks unless you use satellite tracking frequently. The only knock I have is it is rather large, so may not be suitable to where for some sports and for sleeping. The charger is also a bit bulky too.

Heart rate monitor and run tracking is great. The treadmill run tracking isn't very accurate (understandable). It will reflect a mile pace a little over a minute a mile slower than I'm actually running. The screen can be hard to see as even when you hit the light button it's not very bright.

so many features, a little big

I had carefully researched the Motorola watches but on a recent Kayak trip with numerous portages I realized how great it would be to have a GPS function as well. Bought this watch and have no regrets. So many features and really nice looking albeit a little big. Great watch face choices and easy to sync with my android phone. Gives all notifications but the sound and vibration are both set to max and still easy to miss. Weather, heartrate, altitude, barometer, GPS, steps, etc., etc, etc. Really awesome watch.

    The Cadillac of Smart Watches

Let's get the 'bad' features out of the way: 1) a bit heavy and 2) default lighting a bit too dark. Okay, now to the... GREAT FEATURES: I just simply LOVE this watch (and I've owned plenty of them in the past, including the Apple Watch 2, Forerunner 610 & 620, and some Ironman-type watches). I'm pretty much in line with all the other 4-5 star reviews: 1) Easy to use - there's no touch screen, but the 5 buttons are straight forward and the menu is very user-friendly to navigate. Just google 'Fenix 3 HR instructions' for reference (learning curve is pretty minimal, especially if you've owned any main stream sports watch) 2) Data fields galore - no matter what your activity is, this watch has it. And when you sync it up to Garmin Connect, get ready to see some nicely laid out statistics (very Apple-like in presentation). With the HR wrist monitor, altimeter, and barometer, your Garmin Connect page will explode with the extra data graphs... 3) Practically indestructible - this watch is such a tank that it just survived a Spartan Race (an obstacle course race). Of course, a sapphire face definitely helps... 4) Bells & Whistle galore - I have probably gone through ~50% of the features, but I love the ones I've used so far - messages from your smart phone (e.g. iPhone), Widgets (refer to instructions), lock screen, run/walk timers, Heart Rate screen, customized layouts, etc. Oh, the insane battery life blows away any previous watch I've owned. 5) Price - yes, it's expensive. But it's actually great value for what you get (Like may others, I took the plunge/leap of faith that it would be worth the money. And now I'm not even thinking about it because I'm so happy with it!). SUMMARY: Put me in with all the 90%+ happy Fenix 3 HR owners - this watch does it all and I'm a happy customer/user!

I purchased this watch to be able to track all of my activities including running, biking, and swimming. In addition I use it awe my daily activity tracker. Battery life is great even when using the GPS. After a week of camping and hunting it was still >50% battery life. Finally have a watch that I can use all the time and looks like an everyday watch. While I am still learning all the capabilities this has to offer I am very happy with the purchase.

    Good but lacking

As a stand alone watch, this would be a great piece, but as a smart watch it's lacking and does not work quite right with iOS. Great battery life, averaging 6.5 days with notifications and activity tracking on. Waypoint and tracking was accurate the few times I tested it. I would not call this a smart watch, however. It would send Twitter notices and calls, but not test messages, and would sometimes not send anything then go crazy as it received them. The step tracking also seemed WAY off. I'd walk around a little in the morning in the house and would register 1200-2000 steps. I guarantee this was not accurate as I began counting some steps. Average was 300-500, so not sure where these extra came from. When I was cooking, making small steps around my work area, it would register nothing and tell me to move. It appears typing also triggered it sometimes. The other thing I was really disappointed was the screen was very hard to see. I scrolled through 30+ faces to get one that I could easily see and non-were good in bright light as claimed. The watch is very rugged and had no issues while swimming. After contacting Garmin, they have confirmed some features won't function 100% with iOS. If I were an android user I'd give this one another shot, but I am an iPhone person so until some features are more seamless I'll stick to other watches. Pros: waterproof to 100m rugged great battery life great sleep tracker very comfortable bands Cons: activity/step tracking was off no option (with iOS) to select which notifications come through and were intermittent as which ones worked

This watch is the best for the elite athlete. It does it all and have it all. What i love most is its big numbers. The fact that its a smart watch but not so glamorous that it cant take the physical activities done by the elite athlete. I love that it can be seen no matter the light. Battery last for days. This watch is better than my Apple Watch and my samsung s3 watch. As a military member and athlete, this is my go to watch on a daily basis.

The user interface is nice and the ability to change the look and what is displayed is very refreshing. As a runner, it's excellent, especially if you do long distance. Being able to hit one button and run is amazing, and to be able to look down at your wrist and see your pace, time, distance and more is amazing. Sleep tracking is also very cool. There is really nothing I don't like about it. This watch is excellent!

This is a great product. I love the fact that it can be worn in the water. It is accurate in tracking all activities and syncs perfectly with my iPhone. I also love the sapphire crystal which makes it super durable. The compass , heart rate, and sleep tracking features are super cool too!

I love this thing. I love it as a GPS, sport watch, and just a sick looking rugged watch. I had some reservations about buying mainly the price point, but I am completely satisfied and I would buy it again without hesitation. Bottomline, it does everything I need and want it to do and looks great doing it. Battery life is good took it on a 20 mile kayak adventure a week after I bought and it still had plenty battery left. On regular use, using the GPS 5 - 6 times in a week it last 5-7 days. Stop thinking about it and pull the trigger you won't regret.

The watch functions as expected and adding the widgets, watch faces, and applications that you like make it even better! The only negative thing I found is the battery longevity. I'm even trying just using the watch and no other widget or application or GPS in the background but it's still draining 4-5% a day. GPS is spot on, I used it during training. Still five stars.

The watch is a little big at 51MM, I wish the screen were a little brighter, and the app store is a bit clunky, but the wealth of information that it provides makes up for those shortcomings. Also, I don't know why it isn't advertised, but all Garmin 3 HR Models FEATURE A SAPPHIRE SCREEN. For the price ($299 on sale), it was so much cheaper than the 5 Sapphire that I couldn't justify the extra money for an arguably better size (47MM)

I have been a fitbit surge user for the last year as I wanted a watch that would track HR without a strap, has GPS built in, would track sleep and would track daily activity. After a year and 3 replacements (for free atleast), I had to move away from Fitbit because the build quality was horrible. After having the previous horrible watch, my view may be a bit skewed, but the Fenix 3 HR is a great watch. The battery will last me for up to 7 days ( I run 5 days a week with GPS), the GPS is more accurate than Fitbit, the display is great and easy to read in any situation and the HR functionality seems to be consistent. This watch is a bit more expensive than many others, but if you want something that is truly an everyday watch that you can wear both to work and while working out than this is a great choice.

I have really enjoyed this watch both for everyday use and fitness. At first it seemed large compared to my Samsung gear S2 that I have grown used too, but due to the light weight and comfortable fit i barely know I'm wearing it. Battery life is outstanding, easily lasting 7-10 days using all the features and wearing at night to track sleep.

I love this watch. My wife surprised me with it and I have not stopped wearing it. It is on the bigger side but not heavy and the battery lasts forever. I only charged it the first day and have had it for a week already and it is still at 60% battery life. Customizing it with the Garmin app was a learning curve but it integrates with UA new app and Strava. Beyond excited to see this thing help me with my fitness goals. The smart watch notifications are great too.

Saw this watch go on sale for Black Friday and I had to take the leap. It has been the best purchase I’ve ever made! Love this watch. I’ve owned a lot of activity watches in the past, from Fitbit to Under Armour, and this one takes the cake. It looks like a normal watch but has the ability to track any activity I want to do.

After my Microsoft Band 2 stopped working, I started looking for a worthy replacement. When it comes to the sensors and functionality I was looking for (built-in GPS, wrist based continuous heart rate tracking, activity tracking including mountain biking and great battery life), I couldn't find anything better. There are cheaper alternatives (Samsung, Fitbit and Polar) but each had some compromise (form factor, battery life or lack of sensors I needed). While this is more expensive, I'd say for what I needed, it's totally worth it. Also love how long the battery lasts. Hard to find that in fancy android or apple watches.

I've had this watch for about a week and it's been great so far. Battery life is really good even after using the GPS some. HR monitor is very accurate even when I have use it at gym. Have not been on my bike or swimming yet. I mostly plan on using it to track my fitness and it does great so far. And it doesn't look dorky!

This is not a smart watch, so if you are looking for simpcity and a lot of apps then this is not for you! The watch has everything I need and would want to have in a watch. There is a slight learning curve with it, but once you get hang of it it is excellent. Some pros are great fitness tracking, waterproof, golf gps, very long charge so no need to plug it in everyday, only couple times a month, notifications from smart phone and much more. Timekeeping is perfect since it syncs with phone. Highly recommend this watch and I have had an iwatch, a pebble, and traditional watches.

The watch does everything it advertises. I do not know the battery life yet, but it is at least a week using all of the features and a lot of GPS time. I takes some time to become familiar with the push button logic, but after some time, it is pretty good. The users manual is fair, at least it directs you in the right direction, but you have to learn how it works and what to see and what button to push next. I purchased it at the full price and was not able to obtain credit for the reduced price because of the return rules which was a bummer, but the watch is great.
