    Fail for $650

This watch isn't that great. Lcd quality is poor and the casing feels cheap. Back button gets stuck after being pushed firmly. Garmin needs to set the bar higher on their quality control. Tools did not fit for band swaps. I returned it

    Better than the average smartwatch

Takes the typical smartwatch, adds a better fitness tracker with GPS (although you can only measure heart rate with an added strap), and mashes that into an ABC (altimeter, barometer, compass) watch, all in an attractive steel case with sapphire glass and interchangeable bands. It comes with a metal bracelet attached and a rubber strap that can be swapped out, but Garmin also sells an attractive brown leather strap for an alternate upscale look. You can also download watch faces to adjust the look of the watch to match the band. The default software also allows fairly extensive customization of the watch face to suit your preferences. There are a ton of Garmin apps for various activities that can be loaded onto the watch, and there is an online "store" where third party apps can be downloaded.

This watch replaces a Garmin Forerunner 110 and there is absolutely no comparison. The satellite link is significantly quicker, the interface is easier to use and see. The functionality includes many new features (including indoor setups for trainer rides and treadmill runs). It is simply much more substantial and classy. Wear it on the workouts and at work and everywhere in between. The most surprising feature I've discovered in this first month is the ability of the watch to estimate distance run on a treadmill based on my stride that is auto-calculated while outside running (under GPS surveillance). I now have accurate speed/distance/splits while on a treadmill without needing to link to the machinery. Nice! This version of the Fenix 3 is Sapphire glass which I have yet to scratch (let's hope that continues). The band on this watch is a very heavy metal band, which I love, but makes for working out a bit uncomfortable. The great news is that it also comes with the synthetic watch band and the tool to swap them out. I'm still learning the functions on this guy, but I am very impressed so far.

After several months of research and reviews, I finally decided on this watch. This watch is as good as a smart watch IMO. I am a very active person outdoors and this watch meets all my requirements and then some. The watch offers several activity tracking capabilities, tracks and updates well with the Garmin Connect app, and connects to smart phone using bluetooth so all my phone notifications are pushed to my watch. This is truly a great buy and I would highly recommend.

This is a nice watch and it has a lot of options but I purchase this to go hiking in Alaska. while hiking it did not work I would have been lost while in wilderness.

Nice looking, sturdy construction, weight is just right , not too heavy when using the rubber bands. The mobile notification feature is great, all texts and calls are displayed on the watch. The GPS and compass are accurate (as far as) being a wearable device. The battery life is incredible, holding charge for days on heavy use. The watch connects and syncs with ease. Overall it is the perfect all-around watch for the busy body active types!

    So far so good

The watch was easy to setup and get started with. Batteries last a good while and charge time is quick! I am waiting for my chest sensor to get in so I can run it through its paces in the gym. I am also considering the VIRB XE for some trips this summer. My one and only knock on this product so far is the lack of customization for the watch face itself. Yea they have a spot to download other faces from the Connect IQ store but I feel like there should be some ability for me have more options than what are available. I am an IT guy but I'm no developer. I would love some sort of app I could install on my PC to build a watch face through a GUI.
