Overall I can only give my Fenix 5 Sapphire three stars. It does some things very well but has several major opportunities. It's a good looking, solidly constructed, comfortable to wear watch that is an absolute major finger print magnet. The watch is great at tracking daily steps and outside runs but is WAY off on stairs. It is absolutely never even close to being accurate on climbing or descending stairs. I purposely walked up and down 20 flights of stairs and they never registered on the watch. The GPS works super on hikes and I love the track back feature. The Garmin Connect app gives me lot's of good data to analyze my activities. However, the watches weightlifting activity software is confusing and difficult to use. My Fenix 5's heart rate monitor is accurate when I am not exercising. It tracks sleep and stress levels well. I have used this watch constantly since buying it a month ago and the software has totally frozen twice already. The watch just stops dead when this happens. The time stands still and the battery drains at an alarming rate. Down -15% in an hour. I have to connect the Fenix 5 back to my computer and "sync" it to get everything operating again. Another issue is that I set the watch up to notify me ten minutes in advance of sunsets and sunrises. This feature worked for about a week and then just stopped all by itself even though it is still clearly programmed to do it. When using the watch on a treadmill with the Garmin heart rate monitor the distances I run never match up. Either the treadmill or the watch reports a distance variance of up to one third of a mile. I used several different treadmills at the gym. The faster I run on a treadmill the more variance there is between the two. The Fenix 5 has tremendous potential and I really want to speak highly of this watch but all the software hiccups are unacceptable at this +$700 price point.

Also when your watch is not recording the correct distance when running on a treadmill. You can calibrated that application after each run. Below is an article exampling that feature.

Worth the money if you do any hiking or running through different terrains. Love the 2 bands it comes with. Battery lasts a long time. Waterproof. Sapphire glass. I like having the watch face you can change and customize. Plus the display is NOT touch and is always on.

It does everything and does it great. Easy interface and constant updates with your phone. All around data gathering and won't let you get lost. Tons of tech! Totally worth it!

Bought this watch as a general fitness tracker and for use on the golf course. Watch has exceeded my expectations. Using features that I did not think I would be interested in. Would highly recommend.

Easy to use battery life is excellent and the pairing with the app is clean. Altimeter is a bit odd at times or requires calibration more than I’d expect. For the price and functionality it’s better than the 910xt I had and definitely not as flashy as an Apple Watch

This smart watch is amazing. It's used daily. It's like an extension of my body. I'm an active guy so I use it quite heavily. I wish the battery lasted a month or two but the technology just isn't there yet. It's expensive, though, which is really the only downfall.

This watch is by far the best smart watch I've used. I pretty much have it on all day every day except for when I have to charge it. Great features, sapphire glass is apparently super hard to scratch or break. So far so good. It's really expensive though.

Scratch Resistant Lenses are worth it

Bought this watch in 2018 and wore this watch every day including at work for 6yrs. Paid extra $100 for scratch resistant lens's. Just recently stopped taking a charge. I work at a refinery in maintenance, pulling pumps, bolt up flanges, climbing towers and vessels etc. changed band 2-3 times is it, no other issues not even a scratch on the lens. Hope I can get this charger issue fixed ,,, very happy with this watch
