good product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was recommended to me by my brother. He said it is a very easy to use product and he was right. That is just what I wanted. It's been a great help to me because I am a bus driver and often travel to different cities. Now I can easily find restaurants and shopping and other points of interest without having to drive around just looking. I also like that the speed limit is posted on the map as I drive through unfamiliar areas. Good product.

Great GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had two other GPS's so far and this one is by far the best. It includes a good amount of POI's compared to my older GPS's. The Navteq traffic alerts me of traffic along my route and I can use the AVOID TRAFFIC to get me around it. The only negative is that the traffic will only work when the charger is plugged in (must be that the traffic receiver is built in the charger). I will buy only GARMIN's from now on. My old GPS was a M........n.

GREAT NAV TOOL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this primarily because of a job change to a hospice nurse that requires home visits. Rural Idaho can be challenging and this unit has not let me down yet. The estimated time of arrival is useful so I can give my patients a accurate time and look professional in the process. I really put this to the test and used this in Southern California on vacation with my family, man did it work well. The traffic feature is awesome and it was easy to detour around those areas and actually drive like we knew where we were going. Great unit, cannot give it enough praise.

Very satisfied!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research on several brands as well as different Garmins - very happy with this purchase. I think it's essential to have voice instructions - especially if you're driving alone. I purchased this for our college daughter (she didn't really want it but she's realizing it's more helpful than online printed instructions). We used it over Xmas while traveling in Florida and it was very accurate. Glad we went with the widescreen.

Excellent value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A. The Good: Garmin has addressed many of the issues with the lower cost 2XX line such as: - Voice guidance is clearer than the 255w. Appears that they have added some pre-emphasis for lower frequencies. - Volume. It is LOUD. I am using it at 50% or below. Anything above 80% causes distortion. - Searches nearby cities in its database for streets. For example, East Hartford Twn and East Hartford. The older IQUE series needed to be specific. Would be great if we could search by ZIP code. - Routing engine - almost as good as the 660. - Initial route calculation is very fast; re-route calculation is quite reasonable (Magellan is faster). B. Yet to be addressed: 1. Major flaw: - This unit has difficulty differentiating between "right" and "left". If it tells you to turn left, check the visual display, you may need to turn right. Also, if it says the destination is on the left, the destination may be on the right. 2. Minor annoyances: - The text-to-speech engine still leaves a lot to be desired. Here in Connecticut, the state highways are pronounced as "court", for example "Turn left on court 5" instead of "turn left on Connecticut 5". Takes a little getting used to. - My old IQUE used to automatically zoom out to the two end points of the route, progressively zooming in as the distance to the next turn got smaller. This unit requires manual zooming out and there is a limit. It does zoom in as the distance to the next turn gets smaller, promptly forgetting the zoom out setting, forcing the manual zoom out again. - When searching for restaurants. Garmin's view of "Asian" appears to be Chinese only. Someone please tell Garmin that there are other countries in Asia - 37 at the last count.

Paid for Itself in One Trip
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used it the first time on a trip from Iowa to Pennsylvania and we loved it! So much easier than using a map. Easy to use; didn't even require reading the manual. We just used for directions but the additional features (traffic, gas, driving challenge) will come in handy as we use it more. If you happen to miss a turn it's nice to know it will recalculate and get you back on the right track. Feel like it paid for itself in just one trip.

Good investment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our first GPS system. I really enjoy not having to print out maps from my computer before I go places. I'm still learning how it work, but all of the features I have used so far are great. I really like the live traffic feature. Its a good reason to have your Garmin on even if you know where you are going.

Great GPS device.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have another Garmin 265WT which my wife and I were sharing. Considering the quick reception and ease of use etc I bought the 255WT which isthe same as 265WT minus the bluetooth. The only thing I don't like about Garmin is that their map updates are expensive ($60 last I checked).

No complaints at all
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my husband who works route sales all throughout Northern Alabama and also travels to Atlanta frequently for his job. He told me this GPS has made his life so much easier when trying to find stores and he no longer calls me at my desk job to get on google maps and give him directions so I love it too! Add to that the fact that I got it on Best Buy while on sale for a really good price and you can't beat it.

A good buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first one I got was not working well as the touchscreen was misaligned but the second one was good except that the connection gets lost once or twice. Should be allowed to key in just the street name to look for some places when the exact address is not known. Other than that I think is a good buy for me!

Garmin Nuvi 255WT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used this for 2 months now in the Riverside-Orange County-Los Angeles-Long Beach areas. It took me a few days to get familiarized to its features; this has been stated clearly in the manual. Just click "Where To", pick your place and click "GO". I normally click the green button on the top left corner then click "Show Traffic". Love it. Listen to this: "Traffic Severe - Recalcualting", then it redirects you to local streets. The alerts are correct most of the times, like 50-70%. I would say that was good enough for 130 bucks I paid (not to mention I used 65 reward dollars and actually paid 65 bucks out of pocket. Found a few glitches: the map is not "THAT" up to date. I downloaded my one time updated map, it did not show the new entrance (on the right) from Magnolia-Corona to I-15 North, keep on telling me to turn left. But that is not a big thing. What surprised me was when I drove from Long Beach taking I-105 East toward I-605 South, this map did not see that exit which had been there for over a decade. Anyhow, I'm more than happy with this new toy.

Excellent GPS for family use and work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just received my Garmin 255WT for Christmas from my husband and really loved using it. Especially when visiting a large city like Detroit. It helped us find our way around and was great at giving specific directions. My sister in law received a Tom Tom the same day and she was disapointed in hers as she really liked all the cool features that my Garmin had. The best feature is "Samantha" tells you when and where to turn and uses the name of the road or Highway including Exit number and City coming up. I love the mileage reports which show miles traveled, time traveled, how much gas used and cost of fuel, as well as the carbon footprint. The main screen gives you an ETA so you can contact people waiting or know how long it takes to get somewhere. Cool tool! A fun feature we enjoyed using was in areas we know our way around and had a car full of people, I downloaded some of the funny voices like Elfred (The Christmas Elf) and the Yeti (who grunts the directions) Lots of laughs especially when they surprise you after it's really quiet driving down the road. We live in a rural area of northern lower Michigan and used it to navigate a shorter route when traveling across the state and it was amazing. Would loved to have been able to use it this summer when we go camping and exploring of the little towns and cities of Michigan and beyond. It would have been fun to explore the many other little towns and not get lost. I am so sad I lost it. I will try to buy another one as soon as I can afford it. I would definietely recomend the Garmin 255WT

Good product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.7 year old Garman needed map update. Did not make sense to pay $70 to update map when I could get this Garman with great new features and the latest map for around $200. Really enjoy the new features I have used and still have not used the travel feature. (Automatically warns of traffic problems.)

Another excellent item purchased from Best Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Again this is the second Garmin GPS I have purchased in four years. Itsi easy to set up. The features are easy to minipulate through and the unit is very understandable while driving. Again, the purchase through Best Buy On Line provided a very low price for a quality item. I would highly reccomend the Garmin GPS and would also suggest making your purchase through Best Buy! You will be happy both ways! I promise!

Great GPS!!! Love Garmin Brand!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me just say that I think that this is the most cost effective GPS that is on the market today. If you want the mid-sized screen (4.3") that calculates very quickly I would definately recommend this GPS. The Garmin brand GPS lives up to it's name and does what it is made to do. I found this item on Sale on Black Friday Online and instead of fighting the crowds I snatched it up for $129.99 (recently on sale at this price again I noticed). Only thing that I did not do my research on is the Free Traffic service. On the fourth line of the fine print on the bottom of the box it mentions that the Free Lifetime Traffic (which is in large print on 3 sides of the box as a major feature) is only available in certain major metro areas. So, I live in Savannah and when called and asked Garmin if service was available, the rep sorta laughed at me. He said that Atlanta and some suburbs of Atlanta were the only cities in Georgia. Long story short, just buy the 255W and save another $10-30 on your purchase unless you live a very highly populated area. The only other thing that is not perfect about this product is typing in street names/store names on the touchscreen. I average 2 mistypes per entry. Not too bad but could be much better with Capacitive screens now being all the craze for touch screen smart phones and the like. All in all, I love my Garmin. This was to replace a Magellan 1200 that was a cheapy that just died on me. If needed, will buy another Garmin in the future.

Garmin Nuvi255W
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 2006 Streetpilot C340 froze on me after entering my destination. Nothing worked. Couldn't do any touch screen and could not even power it off. In need of GPS NOW bought a NUVI255W to finish trip. The 255W doesn't come with a computer cable (USB) and the ONLY way to register the 255W is by computer and internet. My C340 cable and the download software drivers are supposed to work with the 255W according to Garmin support, but so far doesn't. The main reason for selecting the Garmin as a replacement, was I had just purchased the 'Life Time Maps' on the C340. I asked support if I could transfer my life time maps from the C340 to the 255W...... Nope! you got to buy another $119.00 life time for it. So if your Garmin dies so does the life of the' life time maps'. Not customer friendly!

Nice GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this GPS for about 1 month for personal use, not business. Have not used it extensively due to mostly local driving, but like it. I was surprised the user manual was so brief and almost useless. To use it you need to turn it on and figure things out, but the GPS does guide you step by step. There is a help function and a search feature. It pays to play with it, use the help and/or search to learn the tricks of using it. This unit has the free traffic feature. I do not live in a major metropolitan area so that is not of much benefit at this time. I did have the occassion to try the traffic function when driving through Charlotte and the GPS did report a traffic slow down ahead. I have not used the mounting bracket in my car as I usually just lay the GPS somewhere and listen to the spoken directions. I do like the estimated time of arrival feature and the feature showing the count down of distance to the next turn. I am overall pleased with my purchase and would buy this unit again.
