    Great simple functional GPS unit

Great unit wit an array of little nifty features that I have not seen on others: displays speed limit, auto power on and off with the car ignition, quick satellite capture, tons of points of interest, functional QWERTY keyboard layout. Awesome design of subtle little things. You can also upload topo and other Garmin maps to this unit.

I love it mostly because we got a great deal on it. It was definately worth the money. I would love there to be more options for different voices. The Garmin website is great, you can personalize your Garmin w/different vehicles and such to be in your display. Battery life could be better. But I highly recommend it still (and have)

Garmin nüvi 255WT GPS works great

Very simple to use, well thought out software. Only drawbacks I have found so far are the list of businesses seems to be selective and I have notice an error or two in the maps. I'm sure this will get better over time as they continue to update. Overall a very impressive piece of technology that really makes my life a lot easier.

Everything about this is great except the traffic delay notification. That sucks, I cant even use it, it tells me theres going to be a delay after the fact, doesnt give me a chance to reroute before I get on the highway. Other than that, its great. The speed limit indicator is very helpful and the text read function is also nice.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and worried about it being user friendly as he is an older gentleman. He picked it up and used it the first night and called me later and said he didn't know what he did before he had it (he made me do a lot of goggle-ing and map-questing). So it turned out to be a gift for both of us.

I bought three and two of the free map updates only took 2 hours to download but the third took 5 hours (my wife's camera USB cable plugged right into the Garmin - instead of spending $17 on a USB cable just spend $20 and get a camera or MP3 player with the cable). I've seen TomTom's that are much more difficult to use.

    Fair GPS

Bought it to use on trip to Europe and especially in Rome. In actual operation, was had for it to find satilites in the narrow streets with tall buildings. Caused us to get lost walking around. Might have been better in a car but I'm not sure. If you're in an area with narrow streets and/or tall buildings, I'd be carefull with this one. May apply to other GPS units as well. Disappointed in unit because of this. the "virtual GPS" didn't seem to fare much better. Also, was very hard to see in the sunlight. Even with screen at full brightness, it was a little hard to read. Appears to be made more for cars than walking around.

The traffic alert feature is great when it works. Our vacation trip down I-95 to Myrtle Beach was wrought with 5 lengthy traffic delays. The traffic alert feature saved us 4 times, setting us up with alternative routes that cut the delays down significantly. The 5th time, the unit showed "green" lights, and we were sitting in stop and go traffic. We went with the alternate "detour" button to get us out of that one, though. On another note, "Serena," the British female voice option, sounds as though she has brain damage- she slurs words like, "North" into "Nor-eth" and "Boulevard" into "Boulevar-ared." It was good for some laughs.

The 255wt is a great GPS. It is my second Garmin and this one is for our daughter who has been trying to use the gps service on her phone. This is so much better, safer and easier to use and will be much cheaper and paid for in a year. Traffic service is nice when it works, but has to be something major to show up.

    Garmin GPS

GPS is a device to show directions to a destination, no bluetooth needed. California law does not allow GPS to sit on dashboard, if the device comes with a handle, not a suction cup on windshield, it would be appreciated.

Drove almost 3000 miles during Christmas holidays. Everything was good except traffic indication didn't work well, not accurate. It showed a heavy traffic (red and sometimes yellow) but it didn't have traffic at all.

Have had a 3.5" screen Garmin for years and wanted upgrade without spending $300 for a lot of Bells and Whistles. This one has 4.3" screen, traffic updates, full maps and POI's. Don't want bluetooth or cell phone connectivity. Next year I'll just buy the lifetime map updates and unit will be good for years.

Directions frequently make no sense whatsoever!

I used this GPS unit for a trip from Massachusetts to North Carolina and back. It did a lot of strange stuff. Kept telling my to turn onto a closed off I-95 HOV lane that had traffic going the opposite way. Had one stretch where it had me exit the highway, follow a street with red lights that ran 50 yards beside the highway and parallel to it and then in 2 miles told me to get back on the highway. Worst scenario was when I was back in familiar territory on the way home at 4AM. It provided direction that would have added 20-30 miles to the trip. Glad I knew where I was going because it sure didn't!
