I did not have a chance to use the battery because I plugged it in all the time, so I do not know the battery life. The traffic alert seems function all right, I only had one experience with it. When I merged into a busy freeway, it warned me about it.

    So Far So Good

I have owned two Garmin GPS units now. The first one, high end model, stopped working after about 6 months. Sent in and Garmin sent out a temp replacement until my unit was repaired. Great service and no complaints. The new one I purchased, the 255WT, has been very good unit. The traffic alerts are sometimes not very accurate, or give a delay in the 1 minute range which in my area is no traffic. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend this unit and am considering buying another one for my foreman.

I bought this for my daughter who travels alot for work. This is makes it very easy to get to unfamiliar destinations. The Garmin is easy to view, even from the dash mount unit placed on the passanger side. It announces the next upcoming turn as you prepare to make an immediate turn so you know which lane you need to be in. Overall, a wonderful unit.

Can I Rely On My GPS If It Can't Find My House?

We are late to the party for GPS but we liked using one when on vacation in CA. So, when I saw the 255WT on sale for $129.99, I went for it. For areas that we know it is not helpful. There are often better routes. Also, it thinks our house is on the right side of the street when it is on the left and it tries to take me to a dead end service road when approaching my house from a specific direction I hope it will do better when we are traveling in areas we do not know. We will use it with caution. It is easy to use and the voice directions are easy to follow. The 4.3" screen is only for use when you are stuck in traffic or pulled over. So, it is OK but not the best thing since sliced bread!

    Great GPS Device

This is a great little device. We have used it weekly. Re-routes quickly and gives turn by turn directions. My wife is not very technical but she has no problem with this unit. We serve as pastor in a very small town with lots of small towns close by. It has been very helping finding streets in the types of places you don't want to be last. Great buy

I bought this GPS yesterday. This item was on sale at that time so I only paid 79.99+tax. Everything work really great but sometimes touch screen doesn't work well(probably, because of my nail length). However, this GPS work really great. I would really recommand this GPS.

Was very apprehensvie at first. Reviews were very encouraging. Going on vacation to Nasville in June and wanted something to help me while there. I am not very tech savvy and was very nervous. I wanted to give myself plenty of time to learn how to use it and ordered early. Boy was I suprised in how easy it has been to use. Would highly reccommend.

I gave my old Garmin Nuvi 205w to my wife and upgraded to this model. I was pleased with that model, but am even happier with this one as it was half the price and has more features (i.e. traffic updates, announces street names, MPH speed displayed on navigation screen). If you are looking for a mid-priced GPS, I would definitely recommend this GPS.

I took advantage of the Black Friday sale on Thanksgiving day and got this for $99.00, free ship. I was surprised at the small box which makes it difficult for storage, trying to get the unit back in its place, the charger, etc. The Garmin 255 is very accurate, places me at the correct house every time. The Lifetime traffic is a nice bonus too.

I purchaed this after destriying the screen by accident on my old Garmin which had served me well for more than 5 years. This was incredibly easy to use and there was no need to even read directions. commands are simple and the touch screen is nice and responsive. I also like the traffic updates with constant problems on our local highways.

This is one of the best GPS's I have used. Compared to Tom Tom, the Garmin has been excellent. If there is traffic, you can simply hit detour to find another route. The product is very easy to use, has a clear screen, and provides great directions. Considering the price, I would not go with another brand of GPS. Definitely a must have item!

This is my first gps unit , so I wasn't even sure I could use it. I deliver freight for a trucking company, I was surprised at how easy it was. Much easier than finding locations on a map . It tells me directions well before I get to the corners, even tells me which side of the street it is on. I love it, and would recommend it to anyone.

Awesome GPS! Inexpensive, EASY to use, quick setup

This GPS is awesome. I bought one today at the local Best Buy and unboxed it in my car. It was setup in literally two minutes and was ready to travel anywhere in the USA (didn't try anywhere else in North America). I had no clue how to get to my brother's new place and typed in his address; within about five seconds a route was mapped and I was being told where to go by the built-in voice I call "Rosalita". Rosalita guided me to my brother's house in no time.. features are great, presets are very useful, and ability to add points of interest and a home location are key. Definitely check this out if you're looking for a sub-$200 GPS. The Best Buy I went to had two boxes; one combo package for $250 with a dashboard stand, window suction mount, A/C adapter and a few other things, and also $199 package with just the GPS unit and a window suction mount. So, know what you want before going in! Great GPS. The ONLY con I have found so far is this: If you're going to, say, Main St., and there's a parking lot RIGHT next to Main St., the GPS will sometimes guide you into the parking lot and then recalculate the route from there. Obviously, this can be avoided by just looking at road signs.

This product has been great. I bought it for a family road trip, and we used it to find all the land marks and tourist sites without any problems. One of my favorite features was the ability to find rest areas and kid friendly restaurants (i.e. Chick-Fill-A) while driving in the highway... it may the driving more pleasant with the kids.

I bought this unit for $129 on Black Friday 2009. It was a great price for this unit. The Garmin interface is very intuitive and easy to use. Even my wife, who is not very tech savvy is able to use it. The traffic receiver is nice to have, but not very useful unless you are in a large metropolitan area. It will be great when we travel through large cities. I never have a problem acquiring satellites and the Ecoroute feature is nice, but mostly unused. The 4.3" screen is great, I also recommend getting the portable friction mount made by Garmin. Make sure you update the map after unboxing as the unit most likely will have an older map version. We live in a newer subdivision and our house wasn't found in the maps that came on the unit. Overall I'm very satisfied and would recommend Garmin products to friends and family

    Happy with Nav System

I don't use a lot of the features, but for navigating and allowing me to take a "short cut" not recommended but still routing me to my destination, the Garmin is great. I haven't been confident of the "traffic routing" system working, but the search for a destination works fairly well, it re-routes quickly and is nice and small (making transport easy). I can also plug my Blackberry charger or computer synch cable into the device to recharge it (and didn't have to buy an extra wall outlet chord - that was very nice!) This is my first device I ever owned after using one in Ireland last April. I haven't really seen that the traffic avoidance works, but overall it seems like a great product. I have only owned it a month, so I cannot speak to its long-term reliability. Seems like a safe purchase worth the money to me.

Found this Garmin on a black friday deal and have been really happy with it. It is super easy to set up and use, even for someone that is NOT techno savvy as myself. Love the point of interest option which helps a great deal to locate places in unfamiliar areas. I have not found anything negative about it yet over the last month.

Great at finding addresses and most routes are excllent. The traffic function makes me switch to better or different route and will keep me on time . Very easy to operate. Had a problem with first one a day out of the box it would lose the satalite. Returned with no hassel. The replacement has worked for 2 week. I give it 2 thumbs up
