Our version is used for play, but our son uses his to find places for his job as a marketing manager for a dental company. He says it is great but wishes he had bluetooth version though for hands free calls. Its holder/stand is not the greatest so bought a nav travel pack for it and this solved our problems for both storage and usage.

I had been using the Navigation on my cell phone for over a year and decided that I would purchase a GPS on Black Friday...found this one online and purchased on for myself and my mother. The navigation on my cell phone detected traffic but did not give an alternate route...whats the point in that??? I love the fact that the GPS can detect excessive traffic and will immediately redirect to an alternate route to avoid the traffic...Anyway...GREAT item...LOVE IT!

I liked this unit so much when I saw it was still available in some of the local Best Buy stores I went out and bought one for my sister for Christmas. I do a ton of traveling and since my Nuvi 350 worked so well for 3 years I had no hesitation buying this one. The holiday price was $129 so for me it was well worth the upgrade. The traffic helps out on roads I didn't think it would. If you have not already purchased a GPS the Nuvi series is a great way to go.

This is my first portable GPS. I normally use my Honda's in-built GPS so I had something to compare this one against. I bought this one for when I fly to other cities to visit client sites. Now about the GPS. -- The GPS was a good bargain given that I got it for $40 less than the listed price. While I do not expect it to perform at par with a standard Honda GPS, it lacks the very basic feature of displaying the remaining distance and time on the main navigation screen. You can look at it by clicking on "Menu" and then on "Map" but then you will have to back out by clicking "Back" again twice. That's four clicks while you are still driving the vehicle. And that's when the GPS makes you agree to not operate it while you are driving. Go figure! The other way you can determine the remaining time is that the main navigation screen tells you the estimated arrival time. So you can look at that, then look at your watch or the time on the dashboard and do the math. Even though I might sound petty complaining about the lack of this feature, I can't see a reason for not having it display on the main navigation screen. I expected better from Garmin. By the way, I checked out other Garmin GPSs and it seems to be a standard thing with them all. I guess it's just bad designing on their part -- The touch screen can get a little frustrating to use because it's hard to click on the correct key even when you think you did -- You type a little fast and the GPS has trouble keeping up with you. So while it will register the key strokes, the beep on every key press doesn't play and that gets confusing if you are concentrating on pressing the right key and going by the beep to confirm that you did press it -- Garmin does some strange things with the keyboard too. While using an arrow pointing left as the icon for backspace is pretty much the standard throughout the world, Garmin's GPS has an icon of a rubber at the end of a pencil. While it's just a matter of getting used to, it's rather strange as to why would they do something like that and confuse the users. And here I thought the world was moving more towards standardizing things and making people's lives easier -- Finally, I found it extremely surprising that while Bestbuy.com mentioned a discounted price of $159.99, when I visited the store, it was selling for $199.99. Although the staff was very helpful and billed me only 159.99, they had no explanation as to why was it selling without the discount at the store. I never expected this from Best Buy and am very disappointed Since, I only intend to use it occasionally, I will not return this for another, but it sure suffers from some serious drawbacks.

For 129.99, this was a good deal, though prices keep dropping and features keep adding on for less money. Lifetime traffic is a nice feature to have but things like lane change warnings and recommended routes are a really nice to haves. If you can get this for around $100 as newer models come out it is certainly worth the price.

Solid performer, good graphics, basic traffic info.

This GPS is primarily for business. Before I printed maps from the internet or would call my wife or office to look something up for me. Not anymore. It paid for itself the first couple of days I used it.

This is the best thing ever. I am cartgraphically challenged and this helps keep me on the right roads.

Purchased this Garmin for trip to Disney and other short trips. Worked great. No complaints yet; since only used for a one-week trip. A few times, GPS did not recognize roads into Disney complex; but then just followed road signs. Have not used to find local places of interest yet. Hope to soon and will add to review.

Was a gift for mom, works awesome and she loves it. Very easy to use and has a lot of great features.

Garmin does it right. The Garmin nüvi 255WT GPS is easy to use and gets you where you want to go.

Thisi is a great GPS. The touch screen is easy to use and the traffic updates are really accurate.

Free traffic for life (not as accurate as pay for service but it's free). Overall much like the one I replaced only issue is the touch sreen buttons seem to be a bit more touchy - i.e., have to touch and delay to make it select that letter.

I have used other GPS devices in the past, and nothing compares to the 255WT. It is a great deal for the relatively low price and the features are wonderful. The traffic feature and avoidance really comes in handy for long highway trips. It is also slim, which makes it easy to carry/stow away in between travel. The large 4.3" screen can be scratched somewhat easily, so it might be worth it to invest in a carrying case or sleeve.
