This is my first Garmin and purchased on Black Friday. What a fun unit, that you can do with all the cool downloads off the Garmin website. I had a no-name GPS unit before and I realize now what I have been missing. Alot!

In jersey there are 10 ways to get to everywhere. The unit has a very limited capability for re-routing beyond shortest distance or eco-routes.

So far this had been a great product. I got it for my wife and she's thrilled. I could have gotten a cheaper one but with free Traffic for life there's actually a return on investment instead of just a glorified map.

I would recommend this product to anyone. I am very happy with it. My sister had one when we went to Hawaii and it took us everywhere. It was wonderful, so I decided to purchase one for myself and it's so worth it!

Very good gps with really no complaints except for the occacionaly freeze when recalculating route. Picks up signal very well and fast compared to tomtom garmin is the best. Live traffic is a nice feature as well.

My wife has had the Nuvi 755 for a couple of years and when I bought the 255 I expected to see a dramatic difference,because of the cost difference, and I did not. This unit gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

The price was really very good. Waited to receive the Bean Bag mount before using. A little confusing setting up, but the mechanical voice is good; the small screen is idle for me; directions are clearly stated.

We had a Garmin that needed to be updated and given the price of the update, we went for a new model instead. This was a gift to us for Christmas, that we were able to pick out ourselves. The main issue we have is that it freezes up at least once every time we use it. This is very frustrating, as we must completely turn it off and then back on and re-enter the address. The maps do not appear to be updated and strangely enough, it will show an update one use (say a new addition to the interstate) and then next time we use it, it will not be updated. Also, the traffic alerts have been worthless at this point. It does not show delays and when it does, there typically is not a delay. Given that this was a Christmas gift, we will be returning this. It was quite a disappointment for us.

its a real good buy. a perfect buy for a person who wants to gets started with his gps system as soon as he gets it. TOTAL VALUE FOR MONEY

We enjoy this product even for travel in our town. The down side is that it doesn' always select the shortest or even the fastest route.

Very disappointed at the route the unit took, routed me on and off the innerstate highway on to red roads I guess because programing told it this was the fastest way to go (stupid?) -while towing a trailer. Downloaded new programming and maps and the unit picked up a few turns returning home that did not exist! Latest maps did not pick up new highway route that has been open in this area for 3 months- GET TO WORK GARMIN !

love the text to speech, also mph display! I like it much better than the previous nuvis

I bought the 255WT, hoping that it would help me on my trip in NY. Boy, was I wrong! I haven't been to NY area before and I thought I could rely on the device and save myself some time. But I actually wasted more time than I ever had on any trip with a map. Yesterday I was driving from Holbrook NY to White Plains. It should take about 1.5hrs according Google. With the help of this GPS, it actually took me 3.5hrs. It took me to the NY downtown area and I was stuck in the 1st ave for two hrs in heavy traffic. The live traffic feature of the device rarely worked. It only showed me some traffic with 3 or 5mins delay, while there was actually no delay at all, and didn't show any alert when the delay was more than 2hrs on the 1st ave. The right way to White Plains from Long Island should actually be all highways instead of small local streets. The GPS took me way off the short/quick route, although I selected "quickest" navigation in the setting. I am not happy with this 255WT at all. But considering that I should take some responsibility for not preparing for my trip and that I should not rely too much on the GPS, I'm still going to keep it. It did take me to the destination, although through a very long route.

Three differnt cities and it took me where I needed to be. I used both options (shotest route, Quickest route) and it was wonderfull

This Garmin makes sense for anyone interested in a gps for occasional use. At the price I paid, nicely under $100, hard to beat.

I gave it as a gift to a friend and she absolutely loves it! Says it is so easy to use and uses it often!!!!

This is our first GPS. Im actually here because were buying another. Will probably get the same model and unit, but am considering an upgrade. We love it and it has definitely been worth the money.

What I most like in this GPS is a feature that tells you the side of the street that the address is. I would recommend.

I am older and sometime have a problem getting to where i am supposed.to be.(Doctors office, dental, Garage sales.Some restrauants) Put in addy, and listen..( Thats what I am talking about.)

The algorithm is stupid. On default settings, it will lead you to the nearest but not the fastest. The priority of highway is very low. It is also misleading. Recently example: I type in New York, Riverhead, West main street. The auto-finish is West Main Street. But when you finish and press GO. It changes the address to Main Street. I spend 2 hours, usually it is 30~40 minutes. Stupid algorithms.
