Garmin nüvi 255WT GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is very easy to use and it helps me get around places that I don't know very well. It was also a great price at the time I bought it, best price around was here at Best Buy. I would recomend this product to anyone looking for a great GPS.

Very Nice Little GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an older Magellan which worked fine, then I bought a new Magellan Maestro 4370, and it was a piece of JUNK. I mean, it was the worst piece of technology I have ever laid my hands on. I returned it the same day, and picked up the Garmin Nuvi 255WT which was actually a bit cheaper, and I was so stoked to find out it had FREE TRAFFIC FOR LIFE!!! It works right well. The tracking of the unit by the sats is so fast, almost seamless. Nice sound and fun icons and interface. A plus in my book

Great GPS at a Great Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned an older Garmin with all the bells and whistles but decided to go for this new one rather than paying $100 to update maps for 2010 because it has lifetime traffic and a larger screen. My old one had bluetooth, but the quality of voice transmission was poor. I use my Plantronics headset for that. My old Garmin was good, but the new one gives refined the oral directions with much more clarity on lanes to be in. I always take it with me when I travel and hop into my rental car with confidence that I can get anywhere I need to be, and find a Micky D's along the way. It easily fits into my purse. I liked it so much I gave each of our children one for Christmas. They had TomToms before and were pleasantly surprised to see how much better Garmin is. Great unit, dependable delivery and great price from BestBuy!

my very first gps
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since this is my first GPS,i have nothing to compare it to,but with such self explanitory screens,in just a few minutes i had it figured out. I bought this unit, for a trip from Illinois,to Flordia, just so i wouldn't have to keep looking at a map. The directions were perfect,i knew exactly how far my next turn was,and what lane i needed to be in,even estimated time of arrival,to my next destination. The posted speed, and my actual speed feature was very helpfull, and how quick it registered was amazing. I know the Garmin 255wt will be with me any time i travel, the best investment i've made in a long time. Also, the many other features it has, once you have arrived at your destination, will help you find just about anything you can think of. Totally blew me away, with the amount of info there is,at your fingertips.

Very good GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second GPS (first one was a Sony NVU-78) and I like this unit a lot. It works right out of box, plug in the power/antenna and very quickly it located me and started to receive traffic information. The brightness is very good, text-2-speech is good in general, and depending on the voice you chose. The accented voice adds some entertaining factor to the drive too. On the down side, the color of the planned route (pink in night mode) does not stand out enough. Also, I like to be able to change the heading (north up or 3-D or vehicle directio up) with an on-screen icon. The ETA is useful, but there's not display on distance left. Overall, I am happy with this GPS. The downsides are not dignificant, and at the price I paid ($125) for a 4.3" GPS with lifetime traffic, it simply is unbeatable.

Great GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Broke my 780 NUVI I bought this one, it works very good. The voice is a little down so I have to turn off my music to listen to it other than that it is very easy to set up once you updated.

Better than my Tom Tom
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced a Tom Tom (which broke after 2 years) with this Garmin, and I love it. It's much easier to use, both in terms of set up and use while driving. Have not needed traffic feature yet but did purchase this model for that feature and was happy with the price after comparison shopping. A minor thing, but suction system for securing to inside winshield is great--very secure and easy to set up and take down. I'm sold on Garmin. (Have not had it long enough to rate durability, thus a little lower score.)

happy so far. Too premature to give a full review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am happy with this product so far. Wide screen and mapping is really good. The feature where the color of the screen changes when there is daylight and when there isn't is a very good feature. Directions were clear and good. I do not understand why they have some specific informations like route information linked to the top bar of the screen instead of being a menu item. That looked really odd. Recently I went to DC and it gave Traffic alert and asked me to take alternate route, but I saw no traffic problems. I think, that is an old information.

My first GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the first GPS I've purchased and after some research and helpful advice from friends I chose this model. It's affordable, easy to use and intuitive, and the qwerty keyboard makes punching in addresses extremely easy. So far I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

Good unit for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nuvi 255WT does what you would expect from a basic GPS. Maps load quickly, easy to use and the QWERTY keyboard option is a big improvement over older models.

not bad, not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first gps ever and I got my garmin during the black friday sale so I'm pretty happy about how much i paid for it. I haven't used it much but it has yet to lead me astray (as in i didnt come to an edge of a cliff, which is ome of the few horror stories i heard about a gps). Im sure a lot of people would like to know the negative aspects of it so here it is. 1. The exit i use to go to work doesnt even show up on the gps. I'm on the freeway and suddenly the gps says i'm off the freeway. the gps map indicates that there is no exit. However, i did not mind that too much because I heard that the entrance to the freeway at that street was closed years ago. I guess it was assumed that the exit ended up closing as well. 2. It gave the wrong street name, but so far it only happened once. The street was called one name but the gps gave a completely different name. Luckily I kind of knew the area so I didnt panic (getting lost is one of my biggest fears, which is why i got a gps in the first place). 3. This is the one big problem i had with this product. When I need to merge from one freeway to the next, it has a tendency to NOT mention if I should be North/South or East/West. For example, I'm on the 405 and I need to go on the 710. It will tell me to move to the right side of the freeway so that I can get on the 710, but the speaker on the gps doesnt tell me if I should go on the 710N lane or the 710S lane. It also doesnt show up on the gps itself. In fact, it wont mention which one i should take until at least 5 seconds before the 710 lanes split up into 710N and 710S (dont take my word on the 5 sec timing. its just a guess but it really doesnt give you a lot of time). What if you were on the wrong lane? I cant switch lanes that quickly if I'm going 70 and I'm checking for cars that might be in my blind spot and also worrying that i'm going to crash into the divider because I wasnt quick enough. Anyways other then that, i do like having a gps. However, I always do make sure that I look for directions on the internet before i head somewhere new. My gps is more of a comfort if i do get lost. In that situation, i would trust the gps more then my own instincts. Hope the review helped!

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never owned a GPS, but I have used them in the past. This model is very easy to learn how to use, re-routes quickly when you make a wrong turn, and gives good directions. I especially like that this model speaks the street names and will repeat the next turn if you missed what it said or were talking to passengers. I don't like the search. It seems a little slow. If you are looking for a location based on name, the search takes over 30 seconds and doesn't always come up with expected results. The menus are also unintuitive. since they have to cram everything onto a small screen, you may have to go many levels in to get what you are looking for and may have to back out many times. Overall I would recommend this unit.

Great Choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 255WT is a great value and is reasonably intuitive. I just have had it 24 hours but have used it several times and it has been extremely accurate and chose routes that made sense to me. The default voice is clear, volume is terrific and reminders are good. I researched GPS units for a week and considered several Garmin models. My car has Bluetooth built in so I did not need to purchase that option. The 255WT seemed to be the best value and have the capabilities that I wanted. I was right! It acquires satellite signals instantly. Very impressive. So far, so good!

Great Purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always thought Garmin was the easiest to use compared to the others. I just purchased the Nuvi 255WT on "Black Friday" and I am already loving the ease of use and its functionality. Took not even 2 minutes to set up and start using. I like the speed limit indicator, traffic level indicator and a new feature I did not know about the EcoRoute. This GPS is loaded with many extras other than helping you find your way around town. I have already recommended this device to my friends and family and would strongly suggest you take a look at this as well when purchasing your next GPS. Again very simple to use just turn it on select your country, language and your ready to go from there. Enjoy!

Nice GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my husband. He loves it! It is easy to use. Garmin has a large variety of voices and vehicles that you can download for free (device did not come with a USB cable, but uses a standard one, we had one from a camera that also worked for this). The maps are clear and so far it has given us accurate directions. You can also download games if you want to (we havent). Will put it to a real test soon when we take a 2 week road trip!
