Great GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a recommendation from a Best Buy employee. This was my first GPS and I didn't want a real cheap one. This was fairly inexpensive and it has a lot of great features. For example, since it's portablle, this GPS can navigate you while you are driving, or you can set it to PEDESTRIAN and use it while you are walking to your destination. I take my GPS just about everywhere. It has it quirks like every other GPS out there. You know, it sometimes will tell you turn down a one-way street, but it gets easily resolved. I highly recommend this macbine for anybody who wants a simple and affordable GPS. I later bought one for both of my parents. They love it.

Great Car GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GPS unit is great! My wife bought it for me for Christmas and I was excited to start using it. Many (MANY) more features than my 4 year old Garmin. I like the customizable automobile (I was able to pick a pickup truck picture). It finds the satellites and locations quickly. It's easy to disconnect and throw in my briefcase. The only problem I've had is trying to connect it to my computer. My computer (Windows Vista SP2) found it, but then I had issues downloading the Active X controls and getting the Garmin software to work. I haven't tried it on my home computer, which will be my next step. Overall though, I'm trilled with this little guy!

Clarification, box is correct, it is a 255 wt....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our 1st GPS and I came home to read more reviews & read about the box being mislabeled & what one really gets is a 255w, instead of a 'wt' (includes traffic updates). I did see on the front of the box 255wt and on the side, it says it contains a 255w. I called up Best Buy & after going around & around about the wt vs. w, the guy explained that if I were to read further down on the side of the box, it does explain that it includes a FM/traffic receiver (built into the charger). So glad I do not have to return our GPS. I am giving it high marks, because it should meet our needs. If it doesn't, I bought the extended warranty. Btw, I got it for the $129. I would not have paid any more for this, like many unfortunately have.

cool technology
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the garmin is accurate to within 10-50 feet depending on location. it seems to be extremely accurate in the home area, but not quite as accurate out of area. i love the fact that you can't put in an address that doesn't exist. it also makes sure that you are going where you want to go by making sure the street designator such as avenue, street, place, etc is correct. the directions are clear and easy to follow. this is by far the best gift i ever received!

Top of the Line GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasn't sure if my hubby would get much use from a GPS but just using it he was very satisfied with it. It took us right to the front door of our Destination. It will definitely come in handy when we take our next trip.

This GPS has everything you need
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GPS is a great value for the money. I like how it tells you the street names along with the distance to the turn and which direction you will turn. The size of the screen is great and easy to read during the day or night (it adjusts the screen brightness depending on if it is dark or not). My favorite feature is the "Points of Interest." It allows you to look up restaurants, stores, etc. purely by name, without having an address. Overall, this is a great GPS. Others have more features that I do not find necessary. Also, anyone of any age can use this GPS. Look no further, this is the GPS you want to buy.

Road tested and recommended
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this great little GPS on Black Friday so I got it for a great deal from Best Buy. I had spent the past month reading reviews and weighing what options were the most important to me and settled on this model. I had an older model from Garmin which was always reliable so I decided to stick with a good thing. True, this model does not have all the bells and whistles that many of the new models have...but really, who needs to have voice recognition on their GPS? It takes only a minute to enter my destination so that was not a feature that was a priority to me. I also decided to choose a model without the hands free blue-tooth option, again not a feature I had to have in a GPS. What I was able to get for my money were all the features I really did want, plus the added bonus of the free traffic service. Living in snowy MN it was appreciated during a recent snow storm to alert me to the best route to take, and to tell me the approx. (fairly accurate) delay that I should anticipate. The small ads the pop up are barely noticeable, I am curious to find out if anyone other than Best Western advertises on it! This GPS was ready to go right out of the box, just updated the software which took only a few minutes and did the free map upgrade. I also purchased the lifetime maps feature as at the time of purchase as all accessories for my GPS could be purchased at a discount which saved me over $40 on the accessories I purchased. While I like the online My Garmin features I wish there were more voices to choose from, I think I've tried them all, and finally settled on one that has the best tone quality for me. Not sure why but my first reaction to the sound was that it was tinny. I'm not sure if I got use to it or what but the sound quality sounds fine to me now. Though this unit has some great routing options...fastest time, shortest & eco route I do wish there was a way to select to avoid certain roads. The eco route is really a neat feature though. I've gone through and determined the eco route to all the places I go to regularly and while it may add a minute or two to my travel time I can see that I make far less stops & travel on roads with my most fuel efficient speed limit so I have noticed better fuel efficiency. I did not expect to use this unit so often around my home, I bought it mostly for when I travel, but have found it to be really helpful to find new routes I would never have thought to try in the Twin Cities, and to find new points of interest in my own area. I've been using the unit now for almost 6 weeks and have not had any problems. I can now find the closest coffee anywhere I am! I recommend this Garmin GPS if you are looking for everything you really need in a GPS without all the extras you'll never use.

Easy to read, easy to program, easy to use,
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purcahsed three nuvi 255wt - one each for two adult children and one for me. We all agree that the viewing screen is excellent - lots of information but all can be read easily. My son likes that he can fit it in his computer case while traveling and using rental cars and my daughter likes that it will fit in her purse when she leaves the car. I find it is also a 'monitor' for a heavy foot on the gas pedal as it displays speed limit as well as your current speed. My main issue is that it routes you via the most direct roads which tend to be two-lane rather thatn interstates or multi-lane

A GREST GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It took only a few minutes to set up. Simple to program home address, and all other destinations. The FM traffic feature worked great in the NY metro area indicatiing where traffic was bad and if I wanted , how to bypass it. The window mount works great and comes off easily as long as you remember to pull the rubber tab. A free map upgrade came as long as you register the gps within a month of purchase and download the maps within a month. The registration and download require a USB cable which does not come with the unit. The download took ablout two hours using a cable modem connection.

Ok...but loses sattelite reception too easily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this before Christmas, as a replacement for my older Navigon GPS that was playing out , this is the 2nd GPS device and first Garmin I have purchased ...and have used it alot since I got it, it is very easy to use and it gets me where I'm going but I have a big problem with how easily it loses it's Sattelite reception. It does it quite often, especially the last time that I used it. I am not too sure that I would go with a Garmin again.

Excellent product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first GPS and I am very statified with it's operation. At first, and due to my lack of patience, I found it difficult to operate. But once I took the time to learn all its options, it was very easy to set up (and I am still learning new things it is capable of). It appears to be a very popular unit to many, and that indicates to me that I made a good choice. I would definitely recommend this to others.

It's just "OKAY"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to best buy originally for a garmin because of the popularity of it. i ended up buying a tom tom because it had a better deal at the time. after one day of use with the tom tom i "thought" it was too complicated and returned it for a garmin. BAD move! the maps on the garmin dont even come close to comparing to the tom tom. there are many different routes to my work but the back roads are always the best choice. the tom tom uploaded the route i take every day in 1 try of the detour button, the garmin never recoginized that route untill i came within 5 miles of the destination. garmin kept wanting me to turn off onto the highway. also, i live in an apartment complex with a few different turns and streets. the tom tom knew everyone of them while the garmin actually told me to make a right into my development when i knew to make a left. although the tom tom is known to be a little more complicated because it has more menu options, that isnt always a bad thing. once you learn how to use them they are way more helpfull. put it this way- i had the 2 most popular nav systems in 2 days and my opinion, hands down, is the tom tom. now i am returning to besy buy one last time to get my tom tom back.

Fine; Points of Interest lacking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fine GPS (and I have had far less technical problems with it than with TomTom) except for the points of interest listings. I took it on vacation and would liked to have used it to find local restaurants and attractions. However, I found that many of the restaurants listed were no longer there and there were a lot that I passed that Garmin didn't mention. My old TomTom was much more extensive in this area.

Ecellent GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Garmin Nuvi. I love it. It's easy to use and works great. This new one has live traffic which makes it even better than my last one.
