This Garmin is easy to install and easy to use. The features it has like Lifetime Map Updates and Lifetime Traffic Updates are invaluable!!!! The screen size is so easy to look at and read. Buy this and you won't be disappointed. We love it!

My 3 yr old Nuvi malfunctions every 2-3 months. Installing the software again corrects the problem, but I finally got fed up with it and purchased the 2689. The larger screen is nice since I need reading glasses, but not for this screen. Spoken directions and graphics are substantially improved compared to the old one. Easy to transfer saved places, but custom POIs had to be reinstalled. Have not yet needed to use the smart phone interface. Four square found a restaurant I could not locate in the regular database, so it's worthwhile for me.

An updated GPS with good features & a weak battery

I conducted a relatively comprehensive review of GPS devices prior to this purchase. This device stood out as the only GPS in the market that seemed modern. The look is sleek and it has a solid piece of glass as the front. Other devices continue to have that cheap plastic frame and seemingly plastic screens. This device is easy to use, easy to enter locations etc. Somehow the volume seems to lower at times. I find the split screen useful and informative. The only negative with this device is that it seems to always need charged. I basically must keep it plugged in at all times. I purchased one of these devices for me and one for a friend. She enjoys hers and often gets comments on how modern it looks (as everyone is accustom to the outdated plastic format used by many).

    Good picture and advance warning

This has a nice large screen and is excellent about advance warning. It provides a side picture showing which lane to be in for major turns. Voice commands are nice. I wish I could edit when it speaks to me. For my experience, it talks way too much so I just shut the voice off completely. It is nice that the speed indicator gets a red rim when I exceed the speed limit but I wish I could adjust it to not turn red unless I exceed it by more than 5 mph instead of the default 1 mph. The auto light adjust works very well too so driving at night I am not blinded by the GPS. Overall, very good.

    Best GPS I own

I bought the Garmin - nüvi 2689LMT in Florida this November. I didn't think the voice commands would be a big plus for me, but I'm using them all the time. We used this GPS on the way back to Ohio for the holidays. If there was a traffic issue it automatically popped up and told us. I have another older nuvi with traffic but all it does is display a symbol and gives you and indication of where the bottleneck is. I also like the larger screen. We used the ahead feature to show when rest stops were coming up as well. I give this one high marks.

    Fantastic 6 inch navigation system.

If you are looking for a navigation system in six inches, then I would strongly consider purchasing the Garmin 2689LMT over other navigation device brands because its a very user friendly product with a lot of features, and the screen is very HD clear. I chose the 2689LMT because I was looking for a six inch GPS device and I found it on sale inside the store. I have had Garmin navigation systems for a very long time and I am repeat buyer for that brand because the prices are very reasonable and very unique to use. I had two TomTom navigation devices before, but I stopped purchasing that brand because they don't last long and are very faulty.

I was using an old GPS when I saw this in the Best Buy store and bought it. It has the features I was holding out for. Big screen but not enormous and voice commands are two of the most important features for me. No GPS is perfect. This one is relatively easy to use. The touch screen is nice. You will discover lots of features in the owners manual. I like it!

I recently bought this GPS since my phone doesn't have service everywhere but this thing is great. The screen quality is great and so is the sensitivity on it, Gives great notice on the upcoming directions so you know where to go in advance rather than last minute. Also tells you delays in the route coming. Only downside to this is that for live traffic updates you have to buy a additional device from Garmin. One other bad thing is that the built in battery of the GPS is only 2 hours long.

GPS is easy to use and I like the fact that you can speak to it as well as use a phone with it. However, I have had problems with it not wanting to turn on, even with a full charge on the GPS. I have already had to exchange it out with another one. If it gets warm at all, it will not turn on.. at all, even with a power cable plugged into it. Good product, but has some problems.

This is by far the best GPS that I've owned. It has voice recognition so that you can SAFELY enter an address without touching the display screen. The screen is huge and I found the directions to be extremely accurate. The traffic feature and the zoom in at complex intersections keep you safe and secure. It's most definitely worth the cost. I plan on purchasing one for my wife and teenage son.

I have had 2 Garmin GPS devices in the past and really like this new 6" larger screen for viewing. I especially like the voice command features. I also like having more detailed directions for example turn at the light and the ability with the larger screen to see the lanes and signs on highways. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to easy change the route to one that you have chosen beforehand so that it could map that route.

My wife gave this GPS to me for father's day to replace my old one which had lost it's sound and beginning to lose touch controls. Now I don't have to worry about touch as much due to the voice control. Very nice feature. Also love the much bigger screen. Works perfectly for me so far. Can't go wrong with Garmin!

I love my new Garmin GPS. Being able to use it instead of my phone to get places is an incredible convenience. Plus the traffic updates make travel easier & less time consuming since I'll know what delays are ahead before I arrive at the scene of the delay. Being able to use the Bluetooth on it & answer phone calls hands-free is always a big plus in my book. Overall, a great product to own & I highly recommend it!

Previously I had bought a top of the line Garmin NUVI 3597 LMTHD for my wife's car and wanted something similar for my truck, only with a bigger screen. I found that in the NUVI 2689 LMT. Not only is the screen larger and much easier to see across the much broader dash of my Dodge Truck but the various features make using it a dream. An excellent unit at an excellent price for the pickup truck owner who needs one.

This is not my first Garmin but this product corrected everything I disliked about my previous Garmin. Great voice command recognition My car's Bluetooth does not work with my phone so the Garmin's Bluetooth option is very helpful Great options Love the search function No longer says "recalculating" Lane assist is very helpful

In the store the employee explained the features of the GPS models they sold. I have found the device easy to use and I like the larger screen. Having the security of being able to navigate through unfamiliar areas while driving alone reduces the stress of finding a place and then being able to get back home. It's a great tool for work and for personal trips.

I have had 2 other Garmins and this one is the best one so far. Love how I can zoom in just like on my cell phone and the larger screen. Still wish I could change the route by moving the route on the screen similar to using Mapquest or Google Maps. To get it to take me the way I prefer I had to add another destination to the route. I would love to see this in future updates. Also I was excited to have hands free available. This featured didn't work well for me. I could hear the caller they couldn't hear or understand me. I was happy overall.

I'm in sales and do a lot of highway and back road miles. The built in GPS on my 2011 Highlander is basically useless. I bought the nuvi2689lmt because my old Garmin charging cable wore out, and used that as an excuse to get a bigger screen. I like the bigger screen and some of the newer navigation features, though I miss the ability to add multiple info points on the bottom of the screen that my old Garmin had (i.e. ability to see speed AND miles to destination AND arrival time AND current elevation all at the same time). Also wish there was a way to have a mute button visible all the time. It's annoying to have Ms. Garmin yelling at me at the same time a phone call comes in over the car's blue tooth speakers. That said, I plug this in even when I know where I'm going. It's nice to have an accurate ETA, and having the speed limit and my current speed easily readable on the dash without having to look down helps keep me out of trouble.
