Customers recognize the nüvi 2689LMT's large screen size and intuitive design as significant advantages, frequently praising its ease of use and accurate GPS navigation. Positive feedback also highlights the helpfulness of features like voice commands, live traffic updates, and lane assist. A common concern, however, centers around the device's battery life.

With my aging eyes I love the display on this unit. Great features come with this unit including lifetime maps and traffic. Having a minor problem with the unit but Garmin is all over it. First time in over ten years I have ever had a problem with a Garmin unit. Extremely reliable

A lot to spend on GPS, but well worth it.

Most people don't really like to spend $270 on a GPS, especially in the smartphone age, but I love this Garmin. If you mostly stay around your hometown or areas that you are at least semi- familiar with you can probably get away with a phone. But if you take a lot of road trips a dedicated GPS unit is definitely worth it. First, the touch screen is capacitive not resistive so you don't need to push hard into the screen. Second the resolution is 480 which is quite good for a GPS. Third, directions are clear and precise with a great view that shows street signs as you are passing them. Fourth, you don't have to chew through your phone battery. Fifth, a 6" screen is much better than a 4-5". Sixth, lifetime map updates are free. Seventh, if you go to Canada a lot (I do) a GPS is your only option. Eighth, GPS uses satellites instead of towers which is way better. I really like this GPS and I think its worth getting a specialized product instead of using phone that is OK.

Could not believe how much better the Garmin GPS was compared to the Magellen one we had. I was concerned about learning new things, but it was so easy to learn and much more informative. Definitely worth the money.

The 4 stars is because I Haven't used it yet, but I have only programmed in addresses. This was a replacement garmin for my other one . This one was easier to program and it has extra features than my old one. Looking forward to testing it out next month on my trip .

It was time to replace my old navigator. This one is great! I can call home without using my phone. My kids say it is sometimes hard to understand the call, but for quick messages it is great! Love the big screen.

We had an older Garmin and a TomTom GPS before. When we needed another one, this decision to get the Garmin nuvi 2689LMT turned out to be the best. I especially like the lane assist function because I have a hard time sometimes what lane to be in with my exit nearing. This GPS tells me what lanes to switch to ahead of time so my driving experience especially in new places is a breeze. I also like that the 6 inch screen is just enough for me to read and not be distracted while driving.
The only issue I had was it's hard to see the screen when the sun's up. But nothing that an anti-glare screen protector (which we got) cannot handle. Now, we bring this device anywhere we go. No more phone GPS backups or even Mapquest printouts. :)

I purchased this Garmin at Best Buy in Lake Jackson, TX. I tried one but the screen flickered as if going from daytime to nighttime. The store exchanged it for another. That one would shut down intermittently. Again the store exchanged it for another. The third one works fantastic. I think Garmin must have a few bugs to work out. This is a fairly new product. I liked it so well that I ordered another and had it shipped to my home. The one I received worked fine with no problems. I would recommend this model. It has great features and a large screen.

I use the GPS in an SUV, so I wanted it to be a larger screen, 5" was just OK, 7" was too big, but 6" is just right. I also bought this unit because it supports the wireless backup camera. I purchased and installed the wireless backup camera and it works great. Makes parking much easier. Easy to use, high resolution display. Was approaching a school, and it warned me that I was entering a school zone. Nice if you are not familiar with an area. So far, so good.

A very intuitive GPS. I literally mounted the unit and it worked perfectly. The screen size is a pleasure and very sharp. I like that it shuts off automatically when I turn off my car. My only complaint is the voice recognition is not very good.

I'm really happy with this GPS - it's pretty easy to use allows you to download spreadsheets of addresses. It works in all my remote stops where my phone navigation let me down previously.

Had a few complex trips in the U.S. and Canada planned and maps were not an option. Did not want to use the apps on my I phone so decided to buy a GPS. Read reviews decided on this one, and have absolutely no regrets. In a few cases deviated from its direction. The system updated and kept me on my way without hesitation. Screen is great but it was the verbal directions that were key and the voice was not irritating like some I've heard. Also am not a tech wiz but could easily figure out how to enter information and operate the unit.

If you aren't one for using your smart phone for GPS, this is a very good alternative. Offers lifetime map updates, a larger screen, and is very user friendly as far as getting it going.

This is a very good GPS. I had a TomTom, which went bad right after the warranty. I found out that the circuit board going bad was a common problem. What upset me most, was I only used it twice. I decided to try GARMIN. The 2689LMT has the features I was looking for. My only problem with it, and this is nit picky, is the TomTom had a better way to upgrade and install new maps. Other then that, the GARMIN works without a hitch, and was even more accurate then the other brand, on my last 2 trips. I've owned 3 TomToms, but I'm liking the GARMIN.
