It wasn't everything I wanted but I think it would be good for other people. It was my first Garmin had Tom Tom's before this.

I love my garman... My last one was 13 years old and loved it now the new one is even better with the map views and touch screen.

I am very satisfied with my Garmin. It gives miles left on the trip and upcoming turns.

Sensitive to touch and responds quickly. Has a lot of options to look up and locate places from grocery stores to restaurants.

The Garmin - nüvi 2689LMT 6 GPS is a great a great global positioning system, but it isn't without flaws. The durability of this particular Garmin GPS is pretty rugged, but I still recommend getting the the Best Buy Protection Plan just in case you manage to crack the screen. I have dropped it once, and it survived the drop with no damage at all. The quality fo the materials is really good, and the window suction cup works perfect. The free lifetime maps and updates is awesome. If you are in the market for a GPS, make sure it comes with free lifetime maps and updates, as some brands or models of GPS actually charge for updates. The screen is very large, easy to read, with brightness controls, and the angle can be adjusted easily when attached to the windshield suction cup mount. The screen is a touch screen, or there is a voice command as well for hands free operation, great for when you are driving and want to avoid being destracted. However, the voice commands, especially when speaking a location, only works about approximately 50% of the time. The problem is with pronunciations of places, which the GPS has a hard time with. Using the voice command feature to find places is like taking an elementary school Hooked on Phonics course and needs much work. Compare this to my Apple Mac, where the voice command works perfect, without flaws. The default voice is pleasant, but there are other voices available for download, along with other cool downloads to enhance or personalize the GPS. The GPS has many great featues as far as it's tracking capabilities. It has the option to find alternate routes when a toll road or bridge is coming up. Built in speedometer is nice, especially if you have oversized offroad tires and haven't got them calibrated to the physical speedometer yet. For the most part, the GPS will find the fasted and easiest route, but not always. The GPS will warn you of road closures and upcoming traffic jams, etc., which is an amazing feature, espeically if you live in an area with heavy traffic congestion on a regular basis. One problem I did find that occurs on a regular basis is the speed limit of the road you are on may differ from what the speed limit the GPS tells you it is. To avoid speeding tickets, DO NOT go by what the GPS states the speed limit is, pay attention to the actual speed limit signs on the road. One feature I really like is the ability to customize place names. Sometiems I punch in or speak a place name and the GPS can't find it, but I can punch in the actual address, then add the name of the place, and save it in my favorites places. This feature is amazing. Overall, I highly recommend this Garmin model, even with it's few flaws. It works great, makes traveling easier, espcially if you are unfamiliar with the area. But I use it all the time, because of the great traffic and road closure information tha the GPS gives.
