I had the original Vivoactive for 6 years. It just started to give me problems. The new watch is so much better aesthetically. It works as my bike computer and running computer. I just finished a 100 mile ride with HR monitor and speed/cadence all hooked up to the watch. The batter still had 65% of charge. I am very happy with the product

More Smartwatch, less Fitness than Garmin's other

If that's what you're looking for, then it's perfect. I was coming from an Apple Watch and looking for something more fitness oriented since that's all I ever used the AW for anyway. Going from a touch screen to buttons seemed like going backwards, so I went with this, Garmin's only touch screen watch series. But I ended up returning it and getting the Forerunner 645 - yes, its button operated, yes, the screen is a little lower specc'd, but these features are really style over substance (and buttons are sooo much easier to use which running/riding - I don't know what I was thinking when I put so much value on a touchscreen). The forerunner and fenix series don't do nearly as much in the "smart watch =" category - but what they do do (i.e. fitness), they do wayy better than the this or the AW ever did. Still, the vivioactive is a great device and I don't mean to cast shade on it. It is a very capabale middle ground. - more fitness oriented than the AW, more smart watch oriented than Garmin's other wearables.

I picked this over the latest Apple Watch!

Great watch — I preferred this over the new glossy fade they tries to be like an Apple Watch —- don’t get me wrong, the new version of Garmin watches has beautiful screens BUT the reason I love this one are as follows: (1) excellent price for the value (2) screen stays lit in dim mode until you move wrist or tap it —- which was what I wanted “stays on AND even dim is visible , especially in daylight!” (3) love the battery life —- I picked this over the latest Apple Watch and I’m APPLE all the way but sorry, Garmin watches ROCK! (4) the GPS and how it tracks activities — i’m an avid ROAD & MTB cyclist and this watch rocks ! GPS, watch faces you can download from iConnect app, etc.... Get this one IF you desire the screen to display the time all the time (in dim mode until you turn worst or tap it, remember, the dim mode is very visible in daylight due to screen design!

Love this watch, I had the Vivoactive HR prior to this and also loved it, but this watch is more comfortable in my opinion. It has mostly the same options. The main reason I gave it a 4-star instead of a 5-star is because the Vivosmart HR battery lasted for about two weeks, but this one last about 6 days. Still has all the trackable activities, and is a great watch for for any active men or women.

I was replacing a ms band, tried the fit pro 2, but the tracking abilities were to inaccurate. The vivoactive 3 gives me a ton of data and it seems to be fairly accurate overall. If it had music it would be 5 stars, but for a solid tracker without getting a fenix, it is great.

I've tried numerous WearOS-based watches but was always left disappointed when the battery could never make it through an entire day... and then I'd have to leave it plugged in overnight causing me to miss out on sleep monitoring. Then I bought this Garmin Vivoactive 3 and was introduced to the perfect watch for me. The battery easily lasts 3-4 days... and then when I plugged the watch into the wall it quickly recharges to full capacity in a short period. I love the flexibility of the numerous watch faces that I can add to the watch and since I follow the weather I now have the perfect watch face that tracks both weather, steps, and heart rate. Plus, the amount of additional apps make this watch (at almost any price) the best smart watch out there. I can quickly look up Bitcoin prices, tidal flow levels near my boat, minutecast weather, garmin training plans, events from my phone, and even get my messages and phone calls passing to my watch.

I have been using it for several weeks now. This Garmin smart watch has notifications, customizable watch face and a greater amount of activities available (eg: soccer, winter sports, etc) than older versions. The first time I used it for an outdoor activity, it took some time for the watch to catch GPS signal and locate me, but it was a lot faster after the initial run. Another advantage of this watch is the ability to easily & quickly change the strap. This watch is waterproof, so you will be able to use it for swimming.

If you want a fancy watch with an excellent screen, this watch is not for you. If you want good basic functions (heart rate, call and message notifications, and an excellent battery life if you use the all blue screen) definitely get this watch.

This watch fits my needs well. It's low power, so I like not needing to charge but once a week. It's waterproof down to 5m, so about to track swimming workouts. There's an app in their store that keeps the heart rate monitor running while doing a swim workout.

This is an excellent fitness devices with easy always on screen, 4-5 days battery life, GPS tracking is pretty accurate compare to other smart watch. It was off by .1 of a mile during a half marathon. As a smart watch features it is lacking lots of feature like you can reply back to message or delete email.

Was looking for a good fitness watch to replace my Apple Watch. I have Apple products for everything else I use so this was a big step out of my comfort zone. This Garmin is perfect! I’m a hiker and biker and this watch does everything I need at a fraction of the price. The battery lasts a least a week if I don’t use the GPS functions. I can hike and bike for ~8 hours using the GPS mapping feature and still have 30% battery left. I love the App results on my smartphone. Thorough data with visually appealing graphics. I’m a female with small wrists and I was concerned with the face and band size while researching online. Turned out to be a non issue. It’s not bulky and is very light. The face is more durable and I’m not as worried about scratching it. Highly recommend this watch. If you’re on the fence jump off and make the purchase!

The only reason I’m not giving this five stars is because it can’t send and receive sms messages. This watch I loved. I loved the fact that it charged so fast and that the battery would last me 6 days. The sleep tracker was awesome although it could use a little more tweaking. There are so many features in here including an app that allows you to make wallpapers for the watch in your phone. I like the music controls and garmin pay. It was comfortable and I could confidently shower with it on without worrying about it breaking. This is definitely a watch for an adventurer or someone that is very active. You won’t be disappointed.

I loved the vivoactive 3 touch screen and all of its many features. The main draw back is the screen. The display is fantastic for sunlight and direct light but very poor in normal room light which makes the display difficult to read. The backlight has a purple hue and will drive you crazy when you need it to read the display in your office.

GREAT PURCHASE!!!!!!! Easy and simple watch with a great battery life. Does everything I needed. I didn’t care about music, or Apple Pay or ordering chipotle- I wanted a simple fitness watch that tracked heart rate, sleep, activity and calories etc. Its perfect! I recently bought a Fitbit versa, and was mislead. Battery life was junk and had to pay for their fitness apps- so I bought this Garmin and decided to use and compare the two. The Fitbit didn’t come close to this watch and was more expensive! I immediately returned my Fitbit Hours after using this Garmin.

My original Garmin VivoActive 3 with a graphite bezel was purchased 2 years & 7 months ago directly from Garmin @ a price of approximately $330 when the VivoActive 3 was first released. The Garmin VivoActive 3 has served me well without any issues until recently when the battery life started to diminish at a faster rate than previously experienced. I called Garmin to determine if the battery could be replace and it cannot however by resetting the watch to factory defaults as recommended by Garmin Customer Support has help marginally with the recent battery power issues. With that done, I decided it was time to look at a replacement fitness watch. After considering Samsung, Fit bit and the most recent Garmin Venu & VivoActive 4 watches all at approximately $300 (on sales) I decided I would purchase another VivoActive 3 for $130 (on sale). The price difference between the VivoActive 3 @ $130 and the Venu & VivoActive 4 @ sale price of $300 is $170. My suggestion is that if you need music storage and pulse ox pay the additional $170 if not (like me) save the $s and purchase the VivoActive 3 while it is still available. Other factors that determined me staying with a Garmin Smart Watch platform was that it has been my experience that the Garmin interface thru Garmin Express / Connect and ability to use Strava and Endumundo is exceptional also contributed in my decision to purchase another GARMIN.
