I have really been enjoying having a full time heart monitor on my wrist and having a cycling computer that will upload my rides as soon as I finish. The heart rate data can sometimes get a little weird but it usually reads accurately. Hopefully Garmin will continue to polish the software because it can get cantankerous at times. We learned you can reboot the watch by holding the left button for more than twenty seconds. I've only had to reboot mine a couple of times. One of my friends found out he had a heart blockage by wearing his band. His heart rate would be in the red zone for most of our ride so he went to a heart doctor and they had to put in a stint. It was a good thing he had been wearing his Vivosmart HR.

Switched from Fitbit Charge and the Garmin has a lot more activities it tracks plus the GPS works well. The heat rate monitor so far has worked very well. The step counter is less fooled than Fitbit and is probably more accurate.

My niece has been wanting a fitness watch and said it was a little confusing setting up but very nice. I got a notification Best Buy will set it up so will send it there to geek squad if needed. I like the idea of GPS added and Garmin the best brand for it.

it is a very cool watch, i love the different faces you can download and since I ride a motorcycle I really like the fact that I can look at my notifications on my wrist without having to take out my phone. I just wish the screen would be brighter indoors.

I researched different brands and models and really wanted the HR tracker on wrist feature. When I first started looking the model before did not have the HR feature on it. While looking online again, I saw an article about the new vivoactive HR being released in a few months. I waited and it was well worth the wait for me! Love it!!

I had a pretty tall order...I needed (wanted) an activity tracker that also alerted me to phone, text and emails from my iphone, and was waterproof, and finally did not cost $300+ dollars. This device fit the bill and after several months it has met my expectations. One warning, when it asks you to access your calendar on your iphone, say no. It does not play nice with calendars - but somehow it still alerts me of upcoming events. The battery is great - it lasts about a week between charges. Only negative is, it is pretty big (especially for a female), but I have gotten used to it.

I have been buying Garmin products from the last 12 years, top of the line ones. THIS ONE IS A STEAL. Cheapest product from Garmin, but it has everything, for runners, cyclist, and swimmers . Paid 120 dollars, for HR , Gps, plus much more. No need to buy the top of the line at will cost you 600 dollars. It also looks good. ers

Had a Fitbit watch that performed admirably but would not hold a charge after 8 months of usage. Have had other Garmin products and made new purchase based on their performance. Was not disappointed! Watch functioning perfectly. Has additional functions that the Fitbit did not offer. Easy to use with larger numeric readings.

    Switched from Fitbit to this

I loved my Fitbit Charge HR, but had to have it replaced three times in one year. The last time was just over the one year mark and they wouldn't replace it anymore. I decided to get the Vivoactive HR because my husband had his Vivoactive for one year without any hardware problems like my Charge HR. I also liked that the Vivoactive HR is waterproof and has GPS. I was ready for something more "advanced" after a year. I've had it for almost two months and so far so good. The software/phone app isn't as good as the Fitbit app. The app doesn't sync as quickly as the Fitbit and the info isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the Fitbit app (counted one star off for this), but I do like the way it breaks down calories burned to active and resting, and I like the different activities that it tracks automatically. I also like that the screen is bigger so I can see the info better with my older eyes and the screen brightens up more reliably when I touch it or raise the watch up to see the screen. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Great features and very accurate activities tracker including sleep monitoring. Little bulky on the hands and feels slightly heavier than anticipated. It stands out on the hand and may have to be careful not to ding or accidentally scratched.

I have used Polar devices before, but this is the best. GPS for cycling, hiking as accurate as the Edge 1000 on my bike. Long battery life even when GPS used, 5-7 days. Pairs well with smartphones and Garmin Connect. Well supported with frequent updates and features. Many apps and watchface options. The BEST out there!

After trying the fit bit surge and finding it to be lacking and a non replaceable band that is prone to breaking I returned it and purchased the Garmin, it works much better and is more accurate than the fit bit. the price is much better and it has replaceable bands. Also the customer service of Garmin is much better than the nonexistent service of fit bit. This is well worth the money. The reason for not giving 5 stars is because I never give five stars to anything, it is very good but not great and I have not found anything I buy great yet.

Has very good display with easy to read details. Very accurate. Upload to Garmin Connect provides interesting information on activity. Reasonably priced

I'm a triathlete. I do running, cycling with this smart watch and it works perfectly. It counts distance, pace and heartrate accurately. I've never tried swimming yet. Battery life is also good. From morning to night with some exercise, no problem. Light weight with flexible wrist band. I recommend it.

Really great fitness watch with a long lasting battery. Gives me all the information I need to follow my progress plus my sleep activity. Overestimates number of floors climbed but that's not a major issue for me.

The vivoactive HR has everything you probably want in a fitness watch. Unfortunately, all those features mean very little with such a poor quality dim screen. Beware, even with back light setting optimized I had a hard time reading the screen. This does improve in bright outdoor light but still hard to read. And I don't wear glasses and have no visual issues. Surprised Garmin would not invest in a better screen to support a product with so many features. Returned the product. Went with a Fitbit in the end. Pros: GPS, Waterproof, multiple sports/activities, comfortable band, reasonably low profile for a fitness watch, smartphone notifications Cons: Dim screen, poor resolution, clunky interface and Garmin connect app make navigating thru features a suboptimal experience
