I really wanted to like this. I wanted to track swimming data. The problem is that mine is not accurate. I will exchange it to see if I can get a more accurate one.

I liked it for the most part. After 2 purchases of the same. The heart rate and calories were not accurate either time. Other than that I liked the watch.

    Garmin - vivoactive HR Smartwatch

Not what I would expect when buying the Garmin name. First they store did not allow you to try on or test this product. If I had I might have changed my purchase selection right there. The watch face was difficult to see even in good light, this device is for active people but there is no way you could read this while running or any thing else. The face was way too long to fit on my wrist comfortably. I returned it and purchase a different brand.

Good smart watch but I didn’t like their apps for that. Unless you sign in you can’t use the app or watch. For watch part it’s ok.

Purchased for my son who liked the previous model. This model reads heart monitor thru the wrist which is a vast improvement over previous model.

Waited 2 months for Vivoactive HR to release

I originally started with a Fitbit Charge HR, but returned it after 4 days for inaccuracy in activity logging and limited capabilities. I immediately got online and started researching fitness watches. I am a runner and triathlete who also loves to take H.I.I.T classes and lift. I need something this is all around. I found out about this item's impending release and waited over two months for it to come out. Best Buy: VERY happy with buying through Best Buy. They had it shipped out two days before any other company and I received my item in hand the day other company's shipped their product out. Also, because of the type of item this is, I decided to put the Geek Squad Protection Plan on it- they had the best all around protection plan and I like having the peace of mind that comes with it. Garmin Vivoactive HR: PROS: Built in GPS. That is the biggest selling points for me. I log in high mile runs and bike rides and not having to be tethered to my iphone (which many times is low on battery when I go for my workout) is a huge plus. After taking it out for a few runs and bikes, I compared info to my mapmyrun and runkeeper stats and it the Vivoactive is extremely accurate in pace, cadence, time and elevation. Waterproof. Being a triathlete and in the water often, I wanted a tracker that didn't have to be removed and could continue to track my HR and log my swim workouts. Heartrate Monitor: I wanted an item that would track my HR during workouts to show me my personalized stats, not just a generic estimate of a workout. CONS: Calorie Burn Count: I believe this tracker counts NET calories, not GROSS. I could be wrong on that- I couldn't find any specific answer from Garmin themselves. It seems to short me around 100 calories per workout. One of the biggest reasons I returned the FitBit was for this reason. I have been tracking and logging my workouts for years and I know roughly what I burn so it's frustrating that calories are calculated this way on the Vivoactive. Bulky: It's pretty huge. While it is comfortable, I don't really notice it's there- it is somewhat of an eye sore. The apple iwatch is very sleek and can be worn with any daily outfit. The Vivoactive is very obviously a large fitness tracker. OVERALL: It has some setbacks that I wish would have been addressed before release, but overall I am satisfied with this product and it's capabilities- especially at this price.

It works well and is everything I expected. It's not for long term wear, it's big enough to be uncomfortable particulalry when sleeping.

Display is not up to expectation. Not as bright as a watch should. This makes me to decide not to explore much over this product.

While comfort is subjective, we would like to offer some suggestions to hopefully improve the visibility of your display. The display in the vivoactive HR is designed to be as visible as possible when outdoors but there are some adjustments that can be made to increase its indoor visibility as well, including the backlight settings. More information on this can be found in the owner's manual at: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/vivoactivehr/EN-US/GUID-CE4F91AB-1F4F-4AE3-8937-CBB98C4C6442.html

A software update was released for the vívoactive HR, to add additional back-light settings. This should fix the issue you experienced. To download the software update, you will need Garmin Express which can be downloaded from www.garmin.com/express Once you have completed the update installation, select settings > system > backlight on your device to change the back-light. Best regards. ~QKO Garmin
