    Great Fitness Band

Great product. Charged it on Sunday and still have 53% battery life left. This is including 2 GPS walks that were 30 minutes each. Very comfortable to wear and the Garmin Connect app is great. I had the Fitbit Charge HR and the app for Fitbit is very user friendly but Garmin Connect is much more complete with stats. Highly Recommend the Garmin Vivoactive HR.

Despite what webpages indicate out there about the screen lacking brightness, this watch service its purpose as an activity tracker, and goes above and beyond on the simplicity of usage. I love the gps tracker and the life battery on this thing is also incredible. If that is what you are looking for in a fitness watch then this is for you.

I have enjoyed this watch tremendously. It has helped push me to do more when it comes to fitness. The first one I bought had some glitches so I had to return it and get a new one. That is the only reason I am not giving this 5 stars.

Good, but could use some small improvements in GPS

I owned a Garmin GPS unit for car navigation many, many years ago and the issue I had with that unit and this watch currently are the same, the GPS takes too long to pick up in my opinion. As someone who enjoys see their running path on a map, it's somewhat disheartening that it takes anywhere from a quarter mile to half a mile before the GPS picks up and can start tracking. Perhaps this is a Garmin thing, but I would've thought that in the last decade or so, Garmin would've made some improvements to how fast their units acquire GPS signal. Other than that, the watch itself is pretty amazing, but I would hope in the next decade, that Garmin will improve this.

    Very disappointed

I was extremely excited for this device when it came out. I was originally going to buy the Fitbit Blaze. However, I then heard this device was coming out at the end of April and decided to wait. I have been so disappointed since. I'm a golfer and bought this as opposed to the Fitbit for the golf app. The first day I got it I took it out on the course with me and a big white line appeared down the screen. The yardage was also extremely off. I would be standing on the 100 yard marker and it would tell me I had 160 yards to the middle of the green. It did this constantly for about half of the holes on the course. I also noticed on a run that the speed on the treadmill and the speed that the Garmin was recording were about 2 miles per hour off. Very frustrating when I'm running 3 miles but the watch says I only ran 2.3 miles. (I emailed customer service about this issue and they said you need to be at a 1% incline for best results. I did this and I still had the same results on the watch, constantly off about 2 mph). Last complaint, not that it really matters to me,but the flights of stairs are also not accurate at all! Worst yet, their customer service on my issues has been less than helpful. It takes about 3 days before you hear back from them and their recommendations and advice have not solved any of my problems. On a positive note the battery lasts about 5 days even having used the GPS for a round of golf. It's waterproof! The sleep monitoring is very descriptive on the app on your phone. Lastly the heart rate monitor is very accurate. I'm hoping that customer support finally provides me with an update that fixes my problems or I will be returning this device!

    Good features, disappointing quality

I had been waiting for the release of the Vivioactive HR since first reading about it, so drove an hour to a Best Buy that had one upon release. For the pros, the features seem accurate (HR, steps, etc), the notifications from my iPhone are seamless and convenient, and the setup is easy. For the actual software purposes it seems great. Like others here have stated, the band is massive. I'm a 6' tall male and this feels large and heavy on my wrist. It would take getting used to. The most upsetting Thing to me is the screen and quality of it. It's very dim and makes it hard to read even on the highest brightness. Additionally, it's not the most visually appealing screen out there. The worst thing for me has been screen quality. At $250 I would expect more. I take care of all of my electronics, and have no scratches on my phone, never had one on my Apple Watch, etc. I've taken great care with this device, but noticed a huge scratch the length of the screen on day two. I had no major bumps with anything or anything that would have caused me to look to checking for damage. For a device built around exercise and activity, I would hope for and expect a lot more.

We’d like to address some of the concerns you have about the screen. The screen is a transflective MIP (memory in pixel) display which allows it to see better outdoors when running. Good watch, GPS stops during runs

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I like everything about this watch from top to bottom except one thing, the GPS during runs. I select the run option and start my run. The pace meter and everything else on it works fine until I sync it with my phone after I get back. When I go to view my run it shows the first mile or so on the map of my run and then it just stops right there not showing the last five miles. It just shows a straight line. I'm not sure if I got a bad one or if it can be fixed, it's a let-down.

    Great do everything device

I've now been wearing the Garmin Vivoactive HR 24-7 for over a week. I've run with it, tracked steps and sleep, played golf, all of it works extremely well. Prior to purchase, I was looking at a number of other smartwatches online. This watch has more features than most, but the quality of the running features really sold me. No chest strap needed, and tracks distance, HR, and cadence better than any watch I've owned. Highly recommend.

This has everything I wanted but it doesn't do much good if I can't see the screen! I adjusted the back light to the max and still notice little to no change. Also, after wearing not even 24 hours, I started to get a rash around my wrist. None of the other ones I've used did this. Going back to the Samsung Gear S2.

The vívoactive HR received an update to add additional back-light settings. This should fix the issue you experienced. To download the software update, you will need Garmin Express. This application can be found at www.garmin.com/express Once you have completed the update installation, select settings > system > backlight on your device to change the back-light. If you have noticed a rash, please make sure the device is properly cleaned ( http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/vivoactivehr/EN-US/GUID-B9A459F4-A65C-4E04-ACF0-14E2593F491B.html ). Have had the Vivoactive Hr Smartwatch for almost six months and found the functionality pleasing. Use in conjunction with garmin connect and map my ride to keep track of my activities from hiking, running, cycling etc. provides multitudes of statistics and segment data and comparisons which is useful for review. Able to view watchface indoors and outdoors to check time and other data provided. Swiping from screen to screen is easy as is setting activities. Seems to be fairly accurate for my needs. Like being able to change widgets.

This is my first fit watch and I'm very happy with product. The options are good and it keeps up with my workout data. I was a little worried it wouldn't "syn" with my I phones but, after following the Garmin express inst. I had no problem. I use my old IP5 that has no svc. at the the gym on their WIFI, and switch to my active phone IP6 when done. Just remember to switch the blue tooth connection. I would like a chill option when sitting and watching TV and the sleep options need some more R&D I want to know more details " Net Net" this is a winner.

    Mixed Feelings

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After months of anticipation, I got this on Wednesday after work and immediately got to setting it up. First issue I found was that I cannot use WIFI on my phone while it's paired to the watch. So I have to choose between getting notifications on my watch or having a good internet connection on my phone. Besides that, I love the look, feel functions overall. Day 2 I got my first chance to go golfing and I was very happy with the accuracy and ease of use of that app, which is a large reason I chose this over other fitness watches. Day 3, back to work where I work on a second floor...I know I went up/down at least 6 flights and the watch said I did 1. Continued testing and it really seems like the flights tracking flat out fails 9 times out of 10. Besides that, step tracking works good, sleep monitoring, heart rate, and other measures are giving good data, and I love that you can download and customize new apps/widgets. So, overall I like the idea of this watch and hopefully a future software release will fix the flight tracking and Wi-Fi issues I'm having. I'll adjust my rating accordingly as I get a chance to use more apps and if these things are fixed.

    PRODUCT MADE TO BREAK

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am an avid Fitbit user, but my one problem with them was that they didn't have a high quality swim tracker. So after being told to check out Garmin, I did research and decided on this product. For the first 90 days I had it, it was a great product. I had outfitted it with a new band and a screen protector. But I noticed that there was a very large crack in the screen one day and assuming it was the screen protector, I went to change it. (I had been very careful with the device and had never banged it against anything that would cause a crack such as this) Much to my dismay, it was a crack in the actual screen that was affecting the touchscreen and it also no longer allowed me to use my device underwater. (NOTE: There was no damage at all to the screen protector. The screen just cracked underneath it) When I contacted Garmin, they told me that third party screen protectors cause more harm than good (Okay...really?? Come on) and that it was not under warranty. You can replace it but it will cost you $120. After searching multiple forums, I discovered that it was not just me to experience this problem but a whole bunch of people. Personally, I'm just going to wait for the new Fitbit Ionic to come out, of which I have high hopes for. Do thorough research before buying this device, and maybe consider buying a more reliable one.

I read reviews of many smart/sport watches and decided on the Garmin vivoavtive based on the Company's reputation as well as overall reviews of the product. So far I like everything about the watch except readability in low light, even at the highest setting. It is very easy to read in sunny conditions, which for some other devices can be an issue. I haven't had a chance to explore all the features, but am looking forward to checking out all it can do!

First of all it fits my skinny wrists better than I thought. I'm thrilled with the performance. When I'm using the chest strap pulse monitor the accuracy is excellent compared to the Tele-monitor at the cardio rehab. The wrist pulse monitor is accurate in most instances and beats most other brands but the chest strap makes it spot on. There are so many different activities and it interfaces with all kinds of apps on my phone and computer. I spent days reading in depth reviews of these types of smart watches and I'm glad I choose the Vivoactive HR.

    Great All Purpose Watch

I looked around for an all purpose watch. This one fit the bill. Great features and the golf put it over the top. The Garmin Connect web site is great and full of useful info. The watch is a little pricey but if you use it and all of its features then it is worth it. I wish it had better watch faces but I think that will come with time. Garmin is a great product and I highly recommend it.
