I studied all of the different brands of HR monitors. I purchased this one because it had all of the bells and whistles. Unfortunately my husband opened it and studied the paperwork only to find that he would have to buy accessories to have the heart rate to work.
I returned it because he didn't want to have to buy extra when another brand had whT he wanted.

I bought this along with the Garmin Heart Rate monitor strap to track my cycling activities. It has a built-in GPS tracker that sets it apart from other devices. While it does not have heart rate monitoring built in, I think a chest strap is more accurate and less battery drain. If you don't need routing/directions and want to track heart rate along with the route covered, this is a good option. More use for workout tracking, less battery life naturally.

Love this item. It does everything I wanted and more. It's easy to navigate and easy to set up how you want it. It's light weight keeps relatively accurate stats and has kept me honest regarding my daily activity level. I've seen them all and this product is the best I've owned. Try swimming in an Apple Watch and let me know how that goes.

I wanted something to track my jogging pace, distance and overall time. This product is accurate and syncs to google maps on your phone to show your exact route. Also has lots of other features, most of which I don't use. It was a little clunky to get initially setup, but after first sync with phone, worked fine.

Purchased the watch a few weeks ago after buying and returning Apple Watch. Love that it has GPS and phone notifications. Took a few times to set and then adjust activity settings, but all good now. Only complaint is with notification vibration on activity alerts (I do run/walk intervals)...even at highest setting, I really have to pay attention to my wrist to detect vibration alert. My old Garmin 220 had much better alert (sound and vibrations). Hopefully this will be addressed in future updates.

I already had a Vivofit and wanted something that was a little more like a watch but didn't want to spend money on the apple watch. This does all the things that the Vivofit did plus it interacts with my iPhone. The addition of being able to track distance via running, walking, biking, or swimming is nice.

GPS function for golf courses has been accurate after 8-18 hole rounds at 6 different courses. Downloading courses was easy following on-line manual. Sleep information appears to be accurate. Notifications via a minor vibration takes some getting used but can be adjusted using your phone. Wish watch face was a little smaller but like the fact that it does not emit any light in the middle off the night unless button is pushed to illuminate. Have had no issue with getting the watch wet and have been able to buy additional watch bands which I swapped out easily. I would definitely recommend this watch in lieu of the Apple Watch based on price and golf GPS function.

Battery doesn't last long enough, charge every day. Watch face hard to see in sunlight outside. Tracks activity as advertised. GPS works but getting into website every time is time consuming putting in user name and password every time.

I wear it literally all day every day and still only have to charge it about once a week. I love that I don't have to take it off when I shower or swim. It's more geared towards activities rather than social media which I love. But it does show you notifications from you phone. I would highly recommend.

I bought this watch after my Microsoft Band died on me. I am still getting used to all of the functionality and settings that the watch has. One of the things I like most about the watch is the screen visibility in outside direct sunlight. I was originally concerned that there was no way to adjust the screen brightness, but I am no longer concerned. Hopefully, Garmin continues to improve the software experience, because that is probably the only real downside so far!

While the Garmin Vivoactive may not be the most attractive device on the market, you get a lot for a relatively low price. I checked out all sorts of devices priced higher and lower and chose this one mainly because I have an ANT+ heart rate monitor and heart rate visor. They are more accurate than devices with built in heart rate monitors. The Vivoactive tracks running, walking, sleep, golf, biking, swimming. It is also one of a few devices that are waterproof, not just water resistant. Want more info or to see it in action? Check out YouTube. There are quite a few videos to help you make the best choice for you. Great device for the price and functions! One downside is it can be a bit hard to read indoors but it does have a button for a backlight. It is so easy to see outside though!
